Should do - the image file contains a full partitioned SD image (the same as the Meego one), so it should be just a matter of writing it to an SD card.

m4r0v3r 2011-11-10 12:01

Re: Nemo with new UI and apps!

i did that, and i created a combined uboot image from palis repos for the 49v power kernel but i cant get it to boot, but if i manually load the kernel through the flasher it works fine

Join the channels #mer and #nemomobile @freenode on IRC to follow the development. A lot of stuff going on there :)

"Nemo 11-03.1"

May I ask what's going on with the version numbers? I struggled before realising it wasn't even close to dd/mm/yy. I'm far too tired.

That looks to be the shortened format, and is MM-DD.sequence from the looks of it (if you look at the releases, the directory is 0.20111020.1.CE.2011-11-03.1).

First one is Mer core release number, second is the release number of Nemo

Re: Nemo with new UI and apps!

How is Nemo compared to meego 1.3? It is an usable OS? (at least, more usable than meego 1.3: few apps, speed...)
It is a suitable option for install in the emmc and destroy Maemo installation?

shmerl 2011-11-10 23:15

Re: Nemo with new UI and apps!

Is Nemo/Mer going to build a separate infrastructure eventually? Or it'll use Meego / Maemo forums, lists and so on? Right now I spend time reading updates here and on Meego forum, which is not really comfortable.

Auto-reply for me:

No, it is not usable at all. Just try it in the eMMC and it is faster than meego, but still for devs

for me the latest image kernel panic when i load it through the flasher, and still having problems with uboot.

Re: Nemo with new UI and apps!

For me everything works with the latest image. But i´m still on kp 46 and u-boot for v46

Edit: Well it boots to desktop and some apps works. Still a lot missing but i think things will turn out fine eventually :)

Re: Nemo with new UI and apps!

This thing's a lot faster than the Fall Release.

Man, it looks like we have a real competitor for Maemo on the N900 within a year!

I bet that with an overclock to 750, it'd run smooth as butter, just like the N9.

Is there anyway I can contribute to the project? As in is there anywhere I can go to get a quick run down and do you have a mailinglist/IRC channel that's frequently used?

So for N900 users basically camera, contact, dialer, calendar and photo apps are missing.

At the moment yes, but features arrive in a steady pace from the old meego builds

video of installation of nemo for noobs would be usable.

Re: Nemo with new UI and apps!

its easy install uboot and then check the meego site for instructions on howto install the image onto sd card

It doesn't replace Maemo, no. Eventually it may be able to (unlike Nitdroid), but that's a fair way off yet.

Thanks. Could this possibly be simplified, e.g. just to Nemo 1.0, Nemo 1.1 etc.?

From the mailing list today:

Hi,

So new release is out which contains fixes for: camera, policy
framework, themes, pin query and many others.

Also this release adds gesture support to the UX. So you can minimize
applications by swiping from sides.

http://repository.maemo.org/meego/Ne....2011-11-10.1/

If you find any problems you can write them to our wikipage at
http://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Nemo#Nemo_11-10.1
NOTE: All lines that are not crossed over on previous release are still
valid for this new release.

The bugzilla is currently being setup and we should have is up and
running for bugs in during next week.

Regards,
Marko

Yes, and what's probably most useful is to make side gestures (left, right, up and down from the outside) user configurable, to make it totally flexible. For example they could be set to something like "show homescreen", "close", "open task manager" or even more actions which Harmattan doesn't have.

Just download Swipemanager from the OVI store for the N9. Works great :)
