Missing apps in OVI store?

It seems like some people are installing and using cool games that I just cant seem to find. Example:
  • Samurai II Vengeance.
  • Kona's Crate
  • Gears
  • And a whole bunch more!

I'm based in Malaysia with a 16GB N9, got it through a carrier but seems to be unlocked (no carrier logo).

Is there any way to get a proper version of OVI store that isn't crippled like this?

On the N900, we could use aptitude to download apps that aren't available for your country... Don't know how it works on the N9 though.. :(

There is no aptitude on the N9. N9 uses apt-get.

I did an apt-cache search <program_name> and couldn't find any of the paid apps. I could find the free ones though, like Miniature Chess and Bord. Both are pretty awesome btw.

Bump!! Any idea where to find these apps? Are there any downloadable packages?

I think no one really knows the answer, the N9 is rather elusive in certain parts of the world.

Here a few non-Ovi-Store sites, but you have to enable "Allow installations from non-Store sources" and confirm the warning in the Settings -> Applications -> Installations.

The best one, by far, trustworthy and much better than Ovi, is:
my-meego.com

There are a few others trying to get into the "business" too:
everythingn9.com
n9-apps.com
apps.formeego.org
n9fanclub.com

Please expand this list !

We're not really a store repository... We're more a mod-centric site, we barely put up any applications, though Shaun is a hacker and I like step by step instructions to install and modify my N9...

I've noticed that the Sims 3 from EA isn't available on my Ovi Store client, even though the game is widely advertised as available for the N9....

Re: Missing apps in OVI store?

That's weird. Sims 3 HD is available for me here in Malaysia.

Does anyone know what is going on? Why are paid apps missing for some countries?

Re: Missing apps in OVI store?

When you distribute an app on the Ovi store you must select the distribution countries, so an app publisher can choose which countries have the app available on the store. I think Ovi QC can determine whether a certain app is not suitable for a particular country.
This could be related to the problem, but I don't see what problems Gears could have...
For the record, I can see all the apps mentioned except Samurai on my N950 in the UK...
