Flashing emmc could help?

Re: N9 security code reset

In the N900 the security code is stored encripted in a partition that isn't touched by the flasher, no matter what you flash. The only way to get rid of it would be brute force it. So probably N9 has this feature too.

But how can the community know you legally have this N9?

Re: N9 security code reset

Forgotten security code on the N9 can easily be retrieved using NSS (Nemesis Software Suite). See here:

-->0 file(s) found.
-->Please copy the loaders first!
->ADSP Loaders Dir('FlashUsb')...Found.

->DCT3 Loaders Dir('fls1sup')....Found.

->Products Dir('products').......Not Found.
maybe its relevant? Can someone help to resolve?

Re: N9 security code reset

Actually, i thought you could reset your code to default if you reset your N9 via the Settings options - i had to do that with mine prior to forcing the 1.1 upgrade as i had forgotten the code. (code was set but not enabled..)

Totally invalid article, and perhaps just a fake.

"(of course this is just the example showing the unchanged factory code)." - you should prepare such fake documents better, there is no any factory code on N9 by default.

Can anyone confirm that this works?

Re: N9 security code reset

Verified to be a total fake. I have a Nokie N9 and I purchased it from the original owner. Luckily he was nice enough to give me his passwords and even call nokia to verify he sold it to me but I am still locked out. Nokia support has had me calling him daily harassing him asking every password he uses. Any work around would be greatly appreciated. I would provide all my paper work of the purchase.

Re: N9 security code reset

NSS is not able to read the code, but there is a solution:

--erase-user-data=secure also clears the security code when you add that parameter to full flash command. Flashing with that argument will take around 10 minutes.

PS. this question about resetting security code with --erase-user-data=secure was already answered in previous threads in this forum, so please use search before re-posting the same questions again.

Thank you,
Can you provide the thread, and possibly on a personal email send me instructions. I can provide all information on my purchase and original purchaser. Nokia has pretty much told me to give up.

Reach me at my email address :

rspjose@yahoo.com

I haven't tried it yet but I am assuming you just add the command you suggested to the command to run the flasher correct??

Thanks again.

I wiped my unit with success.

Creating a trackandprotect account on the telephone doesn't require you to enter the security code.

Create account, log in to the webinterface using computer browser and select wipe.

Now the Nokia is wiped and no protection code required.

Re: N9 security code reset

Hi Friends,

New/proud owner of a Nokia N9 here from the Philippines. :)

I was flashing my N9 a couple of times yesterday while I was making a YouTube video tutorial for N9 Flashing (here). In one of my flashing attempts, my Security Code was wiped out. I can't remember what I exactly did though, because I was trying the different methods. But for sure I was concentrating only on two methods:

1. Regular (flash the RootFS only)
2. Comprehensive (flash both RootFS and eMMC)

I do remember that for #2, I tried 2 variations of the command. One variation was the one written exactly in the wiki, and the other variation is where you combine the 2 commands in one go.

Just sharing my experience in case this might help. :)

Rainisto, if you could please assist me as well, it would be appreciated. My Nokia N9 fell off a chair today, and now the stupid Security Code crap has come up with no remedy.

When you say:

I assume that step one will be to download a program which can flash. If you could please direct me to the download link, and then provide additional follow up guidance, it would be much appreciated and I would be in your debt.

Thanks,

Now this is something unheared of???
You mean you had no security code on before, and you bashed your phone to floor and somehow it got activated??

I am afraid if that happened so it must be something else, possibly uncorrectable by SW fix or device flashing... It might be that you damaged something inside the phone so that some pins on chips are either shorted or disconnected, thus the device thinks it's security locked.

With this, the only fix is to deliver to Nokia Care, where they will propably notice they cannot do anything about it. --> it's broken beyond any repair :(

Yes, but it only fell about 30 cm. Not far, but now the security code nonsense is here :(

I would still like to try flashing it. There is important data on the phone. I have just downloaded Pheonix. Can you please tell me what to do from here?

Re: N9 security code reset

1st dont use Phoenix since that wont do you any good, as it will also erase emmc.

Just use the normal flasher binary to flash the device, you can save your mmc partition with that one if you only flash the firmware side.

Guide is in here http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82693

No, (un)fortunately not.
N9 is somewhat hardened, not like N900.

Does it ask you to input an existing code to enter the next screen? Or does it you to define a new code?
In the latter case you are in open mode (but there is a solution available by HtheB).

Niel, tss, tss. ;)
12345 was THE security code up to N900/808.
The N9 had as default: 'not defined'.

I have open mode kernel. It asks to define an new code but when I type an code it says that that code isn't correct

what is the HtheB solution?

This IS the behavior with OpenMode kernel!
CAL area locked, so no chance to write a security (device lock) code.

Sorry for dragging up this old old topic but...

I gave my n9 to a friend whose phone was broken as a temp device and his kid managed to lock it down, I really don't want to flash the device and lose all my stuff just to gain access.

Was a way to get this ever found? Or can I brute force over USB instead of typing on the screen?

Edit: don't know if this should be reported but my-meego (on the first page of this discussion) now redirects to pron.

Seems all binaries involved in flashing and firmware have vanished so even if I did want to do a destructive recovery that is no longer an option :/

Yes it still is!
I did it very recently, and the firmware is still there. You can download directly, but I'm also actively seeding the torrent.
