[Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
So today i finally got myself a nokia n9 and i already have the/a first problem:). I noticed it had PR 1.0 installed and i wanted to upgrade it to 1.1 but couldn't do it via Nokia Software updater because it said there's no updates available.
So then i tried it with Nokia flasher, i followed all the steps from this thread and got error code 10, security failure, downgrade disallowed. Is there any way to flash it? My software version is: 10.2011.34-1.313.01_PR_313 Ty! |
Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
Hi!
Got the same problem, must be the Slovenian firmware... Been tired of waiting for an update, decided to flash. I've tried several images (from Nokia sever and from external server), always the same error. Allso tried via terminal, got error 404... Is there any way around it, or must we wait for Nokia to decide to finally roll out the update to the sunny side of alps. Thanks, cheers |
Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
Looks like you must wait.

Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed

Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
I have the same issue with my N9. The version I'm trying to install is 20.2011.40-4.339.2 and the model is 059L7S2.
Which other versions can I install? |
Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
I've changed the Slovenian code to Balkan, but update via Nokia Software Update fails. It shows the updating progress bar for a second and the it turns off. If i try to flash it i get the error code 10.
The only firmware that it let's me flash its the one is already installed. |
Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
Hi, while flashing my N9, after a "apt-get autoremove" of death which left my phone bricked, I am seeing "Downgrade disallowed" but to my knowledge the versions are ok.
Basically it's a N9 coded 059L4L3, Argentina. I try to flash the firmware: DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4.348.1_PR_LEGACY_348_ARM_RM-696_PRD_signed.bin obtained from navifirm (I've tried both production-external and nokia-care) and I am getting the following error: desktop:/float/download/n9/firmware/image_20_nokia_care$ sudo flasher -f -F DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4.348.1_PR_LEGACY_348_ARM_RM-696_PRD_signed.bin -F DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4.NOMAPS_EMMC_NOMAPS.bin -R flasher 3.12.1 (Oct 5 2011) Harmattan WARNING: This tool is intended for professional use only. The same error is shown when I don't use the eMMC image. For the record I am using Linux Ubuntu 2.6.38-8-generic 64 bits, and the phone isn't booting. Thanks, Sebastian. |

"flasher -f -F main.bin --erase-user-data=secure flasher -f -F main.bin -F emmc.bin --flash-only=mmc" this appeared " erasing this may take a while " but when i entered second command it replied with "error code 10 security failue" " downgrade disallowed " product code is 059K0Z8 HELP !! Thanks |
Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
@Danishgr8: without knowing which version+variant you were flashing and what version+variant you had on your phone, it's not easy to help you.
Post some details, please. |

Because if you currently have *any* other variant for PR 1.3, that would explain the 'downgrade disallowed' message. You should be able to get the current version with "flasher -i" (if that value hasn't been already overwritten with your latest attempts). |
Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
i checked it and my phone has 40.2012.21.3 variant and what i am trying to do is install 40.2012.21.3 varint files , and it should allow it .
i dont know if i had overwritten it as this is my first time flashing my phone . please help i am not able to use my phone for about 23 days |
Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
Five cents from me:
You never want to do --flash-only=emmc command, that is just wrong, and if your following some flashing instruction that says to do that, then the instructions are just plain wrong too. The right command to erase lockcode and flash to factory state can be done with just one command (you never need to run 2 seperate commands). sudo flasher -f -F main.bin -F emmc.bin --erase-user-data=secure -R And second point DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958_ARM.bin is not a variant file, that is the vanilla file. If you want better quesses about you problem, you need to copy paste the full flashing log including the flashing command. |
Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
I borrow a sentence from rainisto's answer to point out the version and the variant numbers:
Quote:
001 is the number of the variant. As rainisto wrote, this one (001) is the basic variant, or vanilla file, or the 'Rest-of-World' variant. If the device previously had any different variant than 001, e.g. 009 for Central Europe, or e.g. some of the 3xx used for operator-specific variants, it is not possible to flash the device using a variant 001, because it would be considered a 'downgrade'. |

Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
BTW, to all those who are flashing. RENAME YOUR FILES TO MAIN.BIN AND EMMC.BIN. Save yourself time! If you need to find your product code exactly, go to settings and there should be a QR code under about device. Scan it with another phone or something, and post it here. Someone will probably be able to direct you to the correct site (Don't ask me. I have no clue where to get firmwares, another user sent them to me.)

Re: [Problem]Flashing Nokia N9 - downgrade disallowed
You can't flash the firmware (main.bin), because 006 is less than 480. You should be able to flash the user-data EMMC with whichever region you want.
You'd still be stuck with, for example, all the 460-flavour system languages if you did this. |

What do you not understand? Be happy that youn not have flashed a chinese version. If you can convince Nokia to give us a newer FW_Update (PR1.4), so you can flash a version with a lower number, even 001 |
