Calligra Suite (Mobile): is something more substantial coming for Maemo5/6x?
I know the document viewer in the N9's Maemo 6x is based on work done for Calligra.
Anyone know if there's something more feature-packed coming as-a-result of ongoing work? This looks to be more substantial, but it's Calligra Active: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB9f48XxoX0 Which is more for tablets, & was simply tested on the N950. I've been talking with a dev in the comments here: http://www.shantanutushar.com/conten...ve#comment-277 My latest post isn't approved yet, hopefully he can clarify everything. This is all the other relevant info. I can find, nothing clear-cut as yet: (I wouldn't be surprised if I've missed something amongst it all!) http://www.calligra-suite.org/ http://www.calligra-suite.org/news/c...mattan-office/ http://community.kde.org/Calligra/Calligra_Mobile http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calligra_Suite http://dilfridge.blogspot.com/2011/1...lligra-24.html http://quality.calligra-suite.org/ https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi https://build.pub.meego.com/package/...brink%3Alibkok https://build.pub.meego.com/package/...%3AKDE%3ADevel |

I would like this to be also updated for N900... I use it now on my Kubuntu desktop, and I like it more than "libreOffice", even if it lacks some (a Lot) of tools...

Looking better for Maemo6x, see comments on these 2 pages:
http://www.shantanutushar.com/conten...ve#comment-280 http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?...reply_received So Calligra Mobile is deprecated in favor of Active. It is not only for tablets, I was wrong in my OP... Editing that will be added to Active soon, can be repackaged for Maemo 6x. However it'd be good if someone can make the UI more suitable for SwipeUX. Otherwise it will work, but look somewhat out of place. Hopefully it'll also be do-able for Maemo5x.... |
Re: Calligra Suite (Mobile): is there something more substantial coming for Maemo6x?
Is there anyone that is able to help with the packaging for Maemo 6x?
Anyone who might be able to twk the Calligra Active UI, such that it adheres to SwipeUX guidelines? There's only one guy working on this, & those are two things he doesn't have time to do. Once he gets close to actually releasing betas, I will have a crack at packaging myself. But tweaking the UI, I doubt I'd have enough time to work-out how to do that. My last response to him here: Quote:
http://www.shantanutushar.com/conten...ve#comment-280 I really hope he can get something out within the next 6months. |

His latest response
http://www.shantanutushar.com/comment/300#comment-300 I think I'll lodge a enhancement request soon... When I have a minute, so busy lately, feel free to lodge one before me. If anyone has some ideas/thoughts, please weigh-in. |
Re: Calligra Suite (Mobile): is there something more substantial coming for Maemo6x?
Given symbian just got it, any chance if Microsoft office? :P
Otherwise, there has been little movement from any developer on this, so yeh let's open an enhancement request and hope Nokia do something. |

http://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1076 Does anyone know about this supposed open sourcing of the Harmattan Office UI that I mention in the bug report (http://www.calligra.org/news/calligr...ttan-office/)? I would love to help out in this endeavour to get editing capabilities, but I'm a real novice programmer. |

http://harmattan-dev.nokia.com/pool/.../office-tools/ In case anyone is interested. Presumably there isn't any obstacle in using the UI to base editing capabilities on is there? (again, my novice's view of the situation) |
Re: Calligra Suite (Mobile): is there something more substantial coming for Maemo6x?
You wouldn't think so if they directed you to the sources. But its a bit more difficult adding editing that just mucking around with the UI. I wonder though if it could be stuck on to the front of gnumeric....

Surely that's the way forward, to better integrate any new functionality (not saying it'll be easy). |

He does make a good point, that little can be done until the editing for CA's done, or almost done. Then we can move towards what you're suggesting. But good idea to start thinking about it now. |

Contacted the dev asking for an update about this (post not approved yet):
http://www.shantanutushar.com/conten...ve#comment-369 Doubt much will ever come of it beyond Plasma but can't hurt to ask... |
Re: Calligra Suite (Mobile): is something more substantial coming for Maemo5/6x?
I don't think we will ever see it on our N9's
OT : yesterday i was viewing some dead qt project demoed on N900 and were post beta quality but never got out like shazam accuweather and peregrine . so i won't expect anything now . |
Re: Calligra Suite (Mobile): is something more substantial coming for Maemo5/6x?
I wonder how Jolla/Sailfish will take care of document viewing (/editing). Could they be using Calligra as a base for their viewer?

Put it in the appropriate Google doc please (if it's not there). And feel free to discuss further in the thread for discussing those docs: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=87764 |
