N9 random reboots
 

Hello there ,

I just reflashed my N9 once and it's still getting random reboots , this could be solved somehow ? On nokia forums some people were talking about sending it to service . :-s

Also why are you using PR 1.1.1??

Are you in asia? Because PR1.1.1 is NOT for everyone to use!

Please in future NEVER flash your device unless you thoroughly research and know what you are doing, you may now be stuck as I do not think you will be able to downgrade back to PR 1.1..

I am from Europe , Romania , I have no idea about this PR , I just used NaviFirm+ to download the firmware .

You should have read up before your did this :(

You are NOT meant to flash with PR 1.1.1 :(

PR1.1 is the firmware you should have used! I am afraid I do not know if you will be able to downgrade to PR1.1 :(

Have you tried to flash with PR1.1?

Yes I tried , it doesn't work , but PR1.2 will work . But this firmware it's bad or what ?

This isnt PR1.2...

The firmware you have used, is for Asian countries offering diferrent languages and text input choices, the models of the N9 sold in them countries are probably slightly different internal wise and thus causing the problem with your N9..


It seems you either send it off for repair to Nokia, OR leave it dead for 6 months and await PR1.2

I would say send it to Nokia, they will fix it.

Next time don't just flash without reading and double checking

I know this is not PR1.2 and I don't think warranty covers this problem . Nevermind ... why PR1.2 needs 6 months to get released ? screenshots already leaked . :-S

PR1.2 will most likely come out around the end of Q1, this is Nokia, they never release things in a quick fashion :(


Also the use of Nokia's Flasher does not void your warranty, so give Nokia support a call or go down to your local shop :)

Most likely they have the ability to downgrade the software to a stable version, what difference does it make to you?

I think they will fix it. There has been instructions for Nokia service somewhere around here to replace components, and there is no reason why they wouldn't try to do that first.

Now to think about it mine hasn't crashed not once, although I saw some weird things with pr1.0. And this is over a month of heavy use, so unfortunately yours definitely needs repair.

If you read his original post you will see he installed an incorrect firmware version for his phone

He mentioned "and it's still getting random reboots", so I interpreted it as that he had reboots before the flashing too...

With N900 two years back me and my colleague troubleshooted one that was unstable for a week; in the end it just turned out that we found out about the powersaving calibration error that could've been curable with later firmware versions, but it'd have taken at least two months (next release) to prove that it'd have helped in the first place.
Powersaving features causes lots of problems in servers, so it is no wonder that a chip can be badly calibrated or plain faulty in phones too.

Waiting for a new firmware would have been two months for him with one or two reboots per day, while mine was solid. And there was no any kind of guarantee that it'd have helped. It was over much faster by letting Nokia care handle it, even if it took some many days to get it back, so that's why I think you shouldn't torture yourself with trying to troubleshoot it too far.

I've noticed something weird with system info app , when I close applications , they do not return 100% of the memory they used to run and swap memory is almost untouched . Here are some pics of system info before and after launching an app .

Ohhh I seee, well yes, dont mention the flashing to 1.1.1, just send it in saying that it has random reboots, and they will replace the device :)

This is a question you best ask your local service centre instead of this forum. I think there's a very slim chance you will get a 1 to 1 replacement and they will most probably fix it.

If you don't want to get it fixed you have a barely usable phone so it's your choice.

I went today at nokia care and they told me "it's ok , it needs a reflash" (LOL) then I told them I already did this so I will send it after new year eve .

I've sent it to some authorised service and they wanted to change the motherboard but they didn't have one on stock so they returned it to me with a letter that asks the dealer to replace it . So far so good , I've sent it to the shop where it has been bought and now I'm waiting my new N9 . :)
