Before buying a N9...
Hi.
Before buying a N9, I'd like to have, if possible, answers to few questions.:o I had search but found nothing::( Is it possible to add or edit POIs in Drive? (for speed cameras, of course, but not only: I need gas stations supplying the E85 for example) Is N9 compatible with the Jabra BT620s and BT320s headphones and with the Parrot MKi 9000 kit? Nokia Suite will work, reading and editing messages, contacts, and calendars? Is there a application (or equivalent functionality) as Autodisconnect on N900? is it possible to edit Office docs, even if reduced? (Gnumeric?) TV access is it possible with browser (as with the N900 by changing the useragent in Firefox, for example ...)? Is group contact possible? Many thanks for your help!;) |
Re: Before buying a N9...
NS will work, there twks around to get it going, but watch out for the very latest updates.
Nokia's trying to kill support for it apparently... There's a thread at beta labs all about it. No time to answer the other sorry.... |
Re: Before buying a N9...
Office docs editing not possible yet but as this is app based may be possible in future.

Re: Before buying a N9...
i still confused which will i gonna take, n9 or gs2, damn they are both cool,

Re: Before buying a N9...
Is N9 compatible with the Jabra BT620s and BT320s headphones and with the Parrot MKi 9000 kit?
-> Not owning your specific kit but, I suppose this would come down to comparing Bluetooth specs devices supposed to pair to be matching / overlapping. Well then no... To me my Sennheiser M100 was unusable on the N900 due to interference noise when Wifi was turned on. The N9 does not suffer from any problems with regard to the above. A nice upgrade for my M100. |
Re: Before buying a N9...
Headsets and carkit are working with N900 (carkit with Bluetooth PBAP patch..., even if not all functions are working, as dialing with the kit, but all contacts update and voice dialing are ok).
Hope it will match, I don't want to change my headsets and... my car...:D |
Re: Before buying a N9...
Poi can be added via maps.Nokia.com and then synced with the n9 in the maps apps.
|
Re: Before buying a N9...
I used to work with .upi POIs in Sygic, or .ov2.
Wich POIs can be use in Nokia Maps? Are they working in Maps and Drive? |
Re: Before buying a N9...
Checked on my computer and unfortunately I dont see a way to import POIs. This sucks.
|
Re: Before buying a N9...
Isn't there a way to add them in map folder, as it's possible with Sygic?
Genuine Nokia POIs must be in a folder. I'll receive my white(!!! :D) N9 thursday or friday, I'll try to check it.;) |

Re: Before buying a N9...
Well how about not having any maps at all for a country? I spent a month in Pakistan (home of Nokia!) and had to use CloudGPS to navigate as nokia had no local maps.

Re: Before buying a N9...
I think he meant in terms of popularity compared to many western countries.
Either that or he was being sarcastic/cynical.... :) |
Re: Before buying a N9...
Pakistan should be the home of Nokia. In the east anyway - heck is Nokia even popular in Finland like it use to be?
I've been to a few countries in the east and Nokia is not as big/popular as it is in Pakistan. Almost everyone has at least two handsets - one a dumb phone with a flash light on its top (electricity load shedding is very common) and one a smart phone (N series) for serious use. I must have seen tens of posters advertising N9, and almost every phone store i visited was a Nokia specialist. This sort of Nokia love is hard to find in 2011 when Samsung/HTC is eating away at Nokia's eastern dominance. So not really the home of Nokia but it might as well be! |

Just based on some of the stories he's written recently explaining the shift/s. |
Re: Before buying a N9...
You can use Google docs - just install this one: http://www.crochik.com/gapp/
You can use Nokia Ovi suite - just install it by following procedure: http://mynokiablog.com/2011/11/01/no...-sync-with-n9/ ... you can update it up to 3.2.100 You do not need any separate software to load maps for N9 ... just use Maps apps of N9 to download and update your phone maps ... Try Nokia Live View - it will probably tell you all local gas stations, ATM, etc. ... http://betalabs.nokia.com/blog/2011/...e-for-nokia-n9 |
Re: Before buying a N9...
Thanks, but I decide to use a TomTom for the road, now!
Drive is so poor, for me... As I got my white N9, now, I can tell you that it's working like a charm with Jabra BT320s, BT360s, and with my Parrot MKi9000 in the car (except dtmf button...). Live view is amazing, but you can't use it while driving!!! :D Well, except for customizing, I love my new phone!!! |
