GALAXY Nexus reviews, anyone?
Hi
Wondering if there are any users or someone who has experienced/usd GALAXY Nexus and have any views reviews, I am looking at buying another phone along with n900. thanks |
Re: GALAXY Nexus reviews, anyone?
It is inferior to the Galaxy S II (which will be just as loved by XDA, even if the Galaxy Nexus is a Google Experience device)
Why? The glass is curved. It's NOT comfortable. There is no SD card slot. The screen is RGBG (yuck!) Pentile. (This will be the first thing you notice!) |

I read on various blogs that ICS will be available on SGS II In first quarter 2012 but I believe it does not have NFC

Re: GALAXY Nexus reviews, anyone?
SGX 540 is a VERY POWERFUL GPU.
It just needs the right settings (kernel, driver, and overclocking). For instance the first 540's gave a performance that wasn't much greater than the 535's but the latest is close to Mali-400 performance. I also prefer (trust) OMAP SoC's but Samsung's in-house units have proven to be just as good! Btw, I prefer the curved display, its a small detail but it really is genious addition to the experience though some (a small *cough* minority) dont like them. The 720p screen is dense enough that you hardly notice the Pentile layer (using the SGNOTE), though a SAMOLED+ with qHD resolution yields the same result. The 4.6in size is perfect much better than 4.2in, but I prefer the 5.3in NOTE since my hands are LARRRRRGE! |

Battery test, disappointing.

Re: GALAXY Nexus reviews, anyone?
It feels like anything with a dualcore A9 is too powerful for a phone, and anything with an A8 is too weak, and neither is good with battery life.
Feels like the sweet spot/compromise for the gen-pop is something with a: 4.6 inch display 960x540 SAMOLED+ solo Cortex A9 (1.2GHz) + solo Cortex A7 (0.6GHz) 1GB RAM + 1800mAh ....efficient use of idling/power/OS But for power users (and large handed) people The SG NOTE is the best combination: max screen, max power, max battery = max experience with good battery life! |
Re: GALAXY Nexus reviews, anyone?
I have a Galaxy Nexus. It's a really good phone. Has NFC, a very high resolution screen and is lightning fast. The only fault I have with the screen is uniformity at low brightness. If you have any questions, ask away.

^ Does yours suffer the Green-tinge problem? What can you say about the gloss?
I've turned off Auto-Brightness and fixes the green, but the gloss really really deteriorates the experience :( |
Re: GALAXY Nexus reviews, anyone?
^ screen burn-in?

Re: GALAXY Nexus reviews, anyone?

I think they both use the *same* screen (SAMOLED, HD, <6in) or more likely they use the same drivers on both screens. I have it, I disabled Auto-Brightness and it seemed to fix it. |

The gloss on the screen? seems OK, not too shiny I think it has an antireflective coating (since I see purple in the reflection). |
Re: GALAXY Nexus reviews, anyone?
Decided to take a picture of screen and back gloss. To show what I mean.
Notice the reduced direct reflection of the camera flash in the Galaxy Nexus and the purple/blue glare around it. http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/356/p1020058f.th.jpg If you were talking about the gloss on the back here's a comparison (a bit blurry, sorry) http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/1130/p1020060f.jpg Screen on (should have taken this in a dark place with the flash off but against the sunlight and direct flash the visibility held up pretty well) http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/5209/p1020059m.jpg It's pretty thin too compared to the beast (my main phone N900) http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/4296/p1020061i.jpg |
