I thought offering so much information was doing too much work? Perhaps now, I think I was being unkind because on doing a Power Search or Wiki Search, for the word format or phrase format phone gives no relevant information.

However, searching the Wiki for reflash, goes straight to the mentioned page.

Replace the word format with the word reflash, because not only does the process wipe data and set up how data is stored, it writes the boot mechanism as well. A full reflash also rewrites the whole directory system, i.e. has effect of wiping all directories, including user data from the FAT partition (aka MyDocs or "N900" in default file manager).

I edit my original question: where in the Wiki page linked-to are you struggling?

Go to Settings, click menu bar, choose "Restore original settings", or even "Clear device" if you want to lose some data (or make a backup first).

Mahi... try this before u restore to factory settings:

for the device being slow, pl check whether u have more and more msgs (sms). my N900 also bcam damn slow, then i deleted some msgs. situation improved. also uninstall some unutilised apps. it may suffice i feel. btw, i also have the same cam issue.

Reflashing is not difficult but it is easy to get in muck-up, especially by doing thing out of order.

Please read the Wiki Page. We will help when you post where you're up to, if anything goes wrong. You have to get the ball rolling yourself - or take to a shop if you want to pay someone else...
