here is the link to the youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-eT_tGH7p4

here is the text:

Quote:

Oltre all'inserimento vocale, QVIK permette l'inserimento dello spazio,
la cancellazione carattere per carattere con il tasto backspace e
l'invio/a capo.
and translated into english:

Quote:

QVIK has landed in the Ovi Store by Nokia: the Quick Voice Input Keyboard
is a keyboard that is used to write with the voice, bridging a gap that
Nokia N9 had, compared to iOS and Android.
By downloading this plug-in will enable Nokia N9 to vocal writing
for SMS, email, notes, and to search in the phone book and
the web.
By pressing the MIC and speaking into the microphone of Nokia N9, QVIK
is able to transform your voice into text.
QVIK makes use of Google services speech (you then need to be
on line for its operation, such as iOS and Android) and capture the
phrases in all languages supported by Google's speech, but is
been tested only in Italian, Spanish, French, English and German.
In addition to vocal, QVIK allows the inclusion of space,
Delete character by character with backspace and
the enter/return.

Yep, says in one review or two that a reboot is needed to get it to be swipeable in the keyboards.
Let me know how it is if you don't mind. I was just looking at it and don't know if it'll be worth it.

It's ok, it works well enough, it won't replace texting for me though....

warrentaye 2012-02-02 01:06

Causes really bad battery drain uninstalled.

dagee04 2012-02-02 01:34

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

Yea agree with the battery drain. It does what it's supposed to do but the loss of battery life may not be worth it. As long as it's not activated it doesn't affect the battery though. Wouldn't be using it much unless there's an update to solve that

Sniper_swe 2012-02-03 16:37

My idle went from 8 to 40. Uninstalled and killed process. Back to normal:)

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

Where's the Nokia Store link...
That's a shame, sounds like it would've been great if it weren't for the drain.

Sniper_swe 2012-02-04 15:19

Yeah it did what it says but the drain is to much. It puts about 10%loaf on cpu at all times.

The problem has been solved in the next release, that now is under store's QA review. I think it'll be online in the next few days, maybe monday or tuesday.

I have put my email address on the store's page, when something doesn't work properly I'm happy to help solving issues.

Cheers,
Patrizio

The keyboard uses google's voice services for transcription, so it supports every google's supported language. You can find a list at:

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

Thew new release is finally out (thank's Ovi Store, you're much faster than AppStore), battery drain and poor vocal performances issues have been solved. Also added toolbar support, to send sms and insert emoticons and attachments into messages.

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

I installed the new version today, but have had no luck in actually getting it to do anything. Hit record, speak, then the cog turns around and just a blank input. Frustrating!

Using the configuration app, try to switch to "more accurate" the recognition method, if it's on "less accurate".

Finally worked using the above :) Thank you! Takes a little practice with the Aussie accent, but its pretty good in translating.

I've made many tests and everything always worked fine, but I've never tried to talk immediately after mic press... There's a little delay between the mic press and the real start of voice recording, just wait a second before you start talking. I'm working on the next release to add feedbacks, so to start talking int the right moment.

When I swipe the keyboard to change into voice input, I cant change it back to the default keyboard with a swipe anymore. If you swipe, it will minimize the app. So I have to change the keyboard everytime within the phone settings. Can this be fixed?

swipe in the lower part of the "keyboard" to get back.

Works now... took a few reboots, and activating it a bit but it works.

Edit: it's still very hit or miss, but when it works, it works really well.

Got the newest version from Store, but voice input doesn't work for me anymore, even if I wait a second or two before talking, it just shows me the cancel button for ~2 seconds then fails to suggest anything.

Hope to see another update soon =)

The swipe area is the whole keyboard, you can swipe in the center, so if you don't hit borders, you don't minimize the app.

I'm harldy workin on new updates :)

Just few questions: have you set the accuracy and the language of the keyboard?

Aranel 2012-02-12 13:51

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

By accuracy, if you meant "less accurate transcription" option, it was unticked by default and I didn't change it. Language is already set to system default (Turkish), also tried with English without any success.

Another small bug I noticed: as far as I understood, SOS button gets us the standard keyboard. Problem is, even If I use a different vkb (such as Turkish) it brings English keyboard, also adds it to my input methods permanently.

switch "less accurate" so that is becomes "more accurate"

ATM that's the behaviour of the SOS button, you can disable the US keyboard by Settings->Time and language->Text input->Installed input methods. SOS button is not a fast keyboard switch, but something to be used when, for a mistake, you selected only keyboards that couldn't input your password to unlock the phone. In a next release it'll be configurable to select the layout you'd like as "SOS".

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

This app is awesome, but maybe in the next update could you implement Symbols into the app for basic punctuation/symbols and numbers, it would be it much more usable as ATM if we want a number or a full stop we have to switch keyboards :(

PS Quick bug report, the app doesn't capitalize the first letter of the first word either at the beginning of the text or after a full stop, not sure if you could implement that :)

About punctuation, there will be an update in the very near future. About numbers, just dictate them, it simply works. If you spell numbers there will be spaces between them, one of the next updates will have auto-space-removing too.

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

Has this been pulled from ovi? If not, i could not locate it under "Quickvoice" search string.....

Never mind. Its two words and ovi cannot suggest a close but not exact match.

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

i did, it is empty nothing to show except to press done .

jefftb 2012-02-20 22:59

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

App works pretty well on the translation part.

The only problem I've found is that it does not like messages that are more than six to eight words long. Beyond that it truncates the string.

Anyone else have the issue?

Sadly, the same happened to me. I upgraded and ended with 0 installed keywords.

I think it is time to learn how to reflash.

It is incredible that just today I bought this application, my first commercial one.

I was very impressed with this application. I hope the developer could make it more stable.

alephito 2012-02-21 03:41

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

Well, after rebooting 4 or 5 times, my regular keywords reappeared, so I avoided the reflashing.

Now I will reinstall this app and see how it behaves.

alephito 2012-02-21 04:33

Re: [application] Quickvoice input

I can confirm that keywords will disappear randomly after a reboot. Rebooting again will activate Swype keyword (in my case) and I will be able to install my regular keyword. Until next reboot.

Please, correct this.

I'm investigating, may I need some info about your configuration:
- which release of harmattan do you have: pr1.0 or pr.1.1? (you can get it by Settings->About product->Version)

- which system language have you set?
