N9 can't receive text's
 

Hi guys

My Nokia N9 can't receive text messages anymore :confused:

I can receive calls, i can call out, and even text other persons - But i never receive the replies..

I even tried with my sim-card in a Lumia 800, and then i could receive messages. So it has to be my N9?! :mad:

I tried restoring it to default but that didn't solve the problem.

Any help?

I had a similar issue with my faulty(as in locking up) 64GB N9, what was causing my problem was smileys, if my wife for instance sent me a message from her iphone containing smileys then I simply wouldn't receive the message. If there were no smileys in the message then I would recieve it no problems.

I didn't have the phone long enough to say if the issue extended to other phones as had to send it back sadly, might be something to look into though.

Get a new SIM, my phone went all funny turned out it was my SIM. It wasnt very old either.

I have the same problem on 2 N9's both of which are running PR1.2

A message sent from any iPhone with a smiley will not be recieved by the N9. Remove the smiley and the message is recieved.

Sending a message with a smiley from one N9 to another N9 works.

yes its a known bug that iPhones non-standard emoji messages are never received on N9. There is a bug open about it on bugzilla.

As a workaround you can disable emoji option from iphone, and only send standard text messages.

As mentioned, the issue isn't with your device, it is with all N9s. Dev team is "apparently" fixing it in PR 1.3. Just tell you iphone friends to disable emoji :)

Thanks for that information, I have been having the same problem with my phone so it is good to know it will be fixed soon

'soon' is relative term, fix is not coming in PR1.3, but may or may not come in some maintenance update.

That is quite disappointing, especially as it somewhat largely affects the users experience with the phone.

Anything new about this problem? I am on PR1.3 and can't receive texts. Added with all the wazapp issues, I am ready to ditch the phone. I really like it most of the time, but can't really spend so much time with workarounds and fixes as I need it for work...

OTOH, don't really want to go to iOS or Android...

The earlier users complianed about not receiving emoji's from iPhone but if you are having a total blackout of all texts its advisable to get your micro-sim changed especially if it was a cut from normal sim in the first place...

I receive text messages daily on my N9 and have never had a problem with them. My providers were TMobile and Simple Mobile.

But I think it's a different problem...
I DO get the messages, they just don't show up on the conversation as they should immediately... How do I know if I receive them? Simple, I can read a small preview on the notification bar if I was using the phone, or at the lock screen if I just unlocked the screen...

Nothing to do with iPhones either, so I think I'm spamming right now...

Put me.down on the list of.persons with this problem.

Is there any dirty fix in the meanwhile? Any file that can be deleted to reset the conversations inbox?

I also see the messages arriving, sometimes up to 4/5 times in a row for the same message, but they only appear as a preview bubble. If I go to conversations they are not there.

Also, I am getting the very old bug where messages appear "merged" under the wrong contact, which can potentially lead to bad problems - and no, no talking about relationships but instead about work related messages.

I think the problem we both have is different than the rest of these guys, on this thread.
thedead1440 has been extremely helpful in terms of offering solutions to fix the problems, you might want to give them a try ;)

Stupid question. Have all of you applied a certain tweak, or recently done anything to your phones?

I had a slight messaging problem with my N9 once I applied a tweak incorrectly. Can't blame anybody but myself. I had to reflash but the problem went away.

Hi, I had the problem that I couldn't receive any messages at all.
Doing a backup with the build in backup tool (settings->Sync and backup->Backup->New Backup) an restoring it, resolved the problem for me.
I think that the message database was corrupted and restoring fixed it.
