[Announcement] ManaQuest: Upcoming Game for N9 + N900 + N950
 

Hi Everybody, especially Minecraft Lovers,

My name is Alex. I am one of the developers of a upcoming Cross-platform game called ManaQuest. I am a early N900 adopter and recently an N9 owner. We are targetting a concurrent release for Maemo/Meego, iPhone, Android, Linux, Mac, Windows and soon after, Playbook.

Some features include:

• Cross Platform Multi-player (uniform play across all platforms, no game feature limitations on mobile)
• Advanced shader effects
• 3D block world building sandbox
• Quests, Dungeons, Mobs, Castles
• RPG-like Levelling, magic weapons, etc

Instabuy Games, Inc. is an indie game company. 3 developers, 1 graphics guy with no startup capital or investment.

We are also accepting beta signups! EVERYONE gets into the PC beta, we are looking for mobile testers as well.

Thank you for the signups guys! I am excited about this release. I am even more excited to be adding a new production-level game to the Maemo and Meego phones out there.

As both an N900 and N9 owner, it's always disappointing to see our devices left out of games and apps, especially because of how easy it is to port SDL games to all OpenGL and native code supporting platforms.

This project is a culmination of almost 1 year of hard work. Professional level graphics and music are just a taste of what will be coming out. We have kept back a lot of the features from publication to prevent copying of ideas before we get a chance to launch.

Either way, any Minecraft players here?

shouldnt it actually be under games, since it doesnt target just meego but also maemo, the OS this community is all about

You're right, games is most appropriate, as this isn't just targeting maemo6x, & isn't an application.
Not sure if it'll get much visibility there, but it is the most appropriate sub-forum.

I have tried reporting my post & getting the mod to move, but so far nothing.
I am a serial pest though, so maybe they've decided to ignore me for a while ;)

Report your post to the mods (exclamation mark inside a red triangle, on the top right hand corner of every post)
And in the text-box box explain that you need them to move it to the games sub-forum.
Or wherever else they feel is more appropriate....

I was waiting for this! Finally a commercial-quality 3D open world game on the N900 (which I hope will fully utilise the HW keyboard)!

I signed up for the beta, hope I'll get to test it soon!

The goal is to enable custom character mapping. For those of you who have purchased the "Game Gripper" for the N900 (I have one!), you should be able to map the keys properly.

The N900 is a powerful enough device with all the necessary support (game runs on the iPhone3G). The game is built with SDL, greatly facilitating the multiplatform launch.

Hi everyone, Someone sent us an email asking if there will be N8 support. We investigated and saw that since it supports OpenGLES2.0 and there is an SDL port, there is a good chance we will be able to make it work.

I have added checkbox for Nokia N8 to the beta signup, if you already signed up or didn't because you didn't see N8, please try again.

I have also added a field for Maemo and Meego forum usernames on the beta signup form at http://instabuygames.com/beta-signup/

I signed up as a N900 and Linux (Desktop) user.

Just a question though - you had 2 options for Linux - RPM based or DEB based. What about if the distro use none of these (like, Arch Linux that use pacman)? Will you provide a straight (non-package-manager-handled) binary or will you not?

Hi FIQ, I appologize, that was an oversight. I have added a "Linux - Other" option for people looking for binary installers.

2 of the 3 developers on this project are Linux-only desktop users. I can assure you that the Linux/BSD users will be handled properly.

We are also evaluating releases for some very interesting linux-based platforms. Large surprises coming throughout the release period.

Yes there is! We are doing final Alpha tests on networking. Beta signup list is still active at http://instabuygames.com/. We have set up a facebook page http://facebook.com/ManaQuest as well where we will be posting our updates.

We have a new video coming out soon. Cinematic gameplay with original music!

Hi, I randomly found this thread here on TMO and here is my 50 cents :)
I have a feeling that you might also want to port your game on BB10 platform (http://developer.blackberry.com/nati..._a_glance.html - SDL is in the list) and not just on a Playbook.
