First of all, this is NOT MY app.
I would like to thank the author of this app!

Seems like the author didn't make an announcement thread, so here is a thread about this wonderful settings app!

With this app you can:

• Lock the home screen orientation to portrait or landscape, or unlock it to have it both ways.
• Hide weather icon
• Change all the text on the home screen to white for better reading
• Use wallpaper on home screen (you can even change the blur and brightness of the wallpaper)
• Use wave live wallpaper à la PS3/PSP background (You can pick a color scheme: Black and white, cyan or magenta)

Edit: Seems like some options requires PR1.2, so hold your breath N9 users for this amazing features!

i've v1.2.3 but missing the wallpaper settings. on ovi store the last update is on 19/12/2011. could you check when is the last update on your store. it could be region specific...

Does this something have to do with N950?
Can someone with N950 confirm which options he has with this app?

Confirm, I have both N950 (1.2) and N9 (1.1) with the same verison of the app (1.2.3) and my N9 does not have this enabled, yet my N950 does. Am using the moving background, similiar to PSP

You got the same options as I have, but if you pick wallpaper, it will also reveal the "blurring" option.

Not even in description it's mentioned about live wallpaper , blur radius or brightness .

The awkward moment when you realize that you have extra features but you think it's normal and everyone else is "wtf" . :D:D:D

So, are this aditional options from app or from pr1.2 itself? As now is obvious that pr 1.1 don't have this.

App and PR 1.2, deleting it removes the home screen setting, and it seems that PR 1.2 unlocks these extra functions of the app

Unlocks it or is part of an UI wich is complemetary with app...I know what you meant, but I'm still not sure if app is doing this. It can only developer of this app tell us :D I have doubts because someone mentioned that all aps must be compatible with all PR versions till now, so PR1.0, PR1.1 and PR 1.2

Well it is compatible with 1.1, just enhanced features in 1.2. A dev mate of mine has N9 from Nokia pre-loaded with 1.2 beta, and he confirms it works on it, so not an N950 limitation, just a FW one.

I'm on PR1.1, app version 1.2.3, and all the options I see are "Lock Orientation", "Hide weather", and "Only white text". I uninstalled then reinstalled the app from Ovi Store and rebooted. Another reason to wait expectantly for PR1.2!

So this is an extra "hidden" options on the rp 1.2 "as many other" and has nothing to do with the dev??? or hes the one who done them? confused :\

Same here. The interactive background surely is PR1.2-only feature.

Yes that is definitely a must have app.

The only thing that would make it perfect would be to be able to choose a different picture than the current wallpaper, and to set transparent weather and notifications icons.

Could you tell me please the path of config files of this app ? I'm using cyan theme and I have some problems because homesetting app works for blanco theme , so I wanna try to make it work for cyan theme also . :)

Updated today (v1.2.5) from Nokia Store. The new build has an image option in the background setting to allow custom image on the home screen background.

Is there any fix for unsynchronize icons and icon names when it turn from portrait to landsape VV. You know, the moment when the icons is in fix position, but the icon names blanks for a while.

And in feed homescreen, turn from landscape to portrait, the notifications feed is cutted on the landscape margin until its appear after you touch the screen.

I always not use/uninstall the app, because of those two. Since landscape tiles re-arrangement on the multitask homescreen is nearly impossible.

These are problems in the home screen itself and cannot be fixed by a third party application. (The problems have not been fixed because switching between portrait and landscape is not officially supported and thus no time has been spent in making it perfect.)

Anyway the app is one of the best solution on N9, for everyone who want playing landscape on their N9.

Those features require Harmattan PR1.2 or later.

At that time Harmattan PR1.2 was not publicly available so it made no sense to advertise the features (yet).

From the application. They are only visible for users of Harmattan PR1.2 or later.

The application is compatible with PR1.1. It just has more features on PR1.2 or later.

The options are part of Home Screen Settings, not Harmattan PR1.2, but their visibility depends on the Harmattan version installed.

Choosing a background image other than the current wallpaper was introduced in version 1.2.5. Non-transparent weather widget background is a Harmattan problem/feature and may (only) be fixed in a future Harmattan update. The backgrounds of the icons come from the Harmattan icon graphics assets and should not be modified by a third party application.

on another thread it was mentioned that Vesuri had sent it to MFT for testing only hence MFT posted the screens on MNB.com. it'll soon be released on Nokia Store pending some testing and QA approval.

I just upgraded to 1.5.3. The horizon animation is beautiful! And there is a nice touch that the speed and direction of the animation changes when you scroll the screen.

But there lies the problem too. The speed increases as you scroll and soon you'll be going warp speed! There should be some speed limit in the animation. But still, a very nice app.

This has been fixed already. If you look at the MeeCast thread, the dev there has patched a system package (inception is needed to install) that fixes the black square on weather. I have used it with the latest version Vesuri sent me and no bugs what so ever.

Do I need to reboot to activate horizon or images? Because those two doesn't activate immediately like others background features. I'm using 1.5.2

Yes, after a reboot, you will get the horizon, as well as the "glitter effect" on the sine waves

Agreed, it's kind of a gimmick :) A speed limit will appear in a future update.

I suggest you refrain from using Inception for things like this unless you understand the risks. PR1.3 will fix this for AccuWeather as well.

You need to restart the home screen one way or another. Otherwise the home screen will keep using the old version. You can, for instance, toggle "Only white text" on/off and select "Yes" from the "restart home screen" dialog. Restarting the device also restarts the home screen.
