Hi,

It seems that Nokia has released a new application to store. At least we have the video calls for gtalk :p ..and it even worked :9

Note that the device reboots automatically after installation, so don't get scared :)
N9 gets better with everyday!

I wonder if it'll work with other XMPP accounts (it shouldn't be different).

It works nicely with Google Talk plugin in the browser, but I wasn't able to make a call to Pidgin Messenger (using GTalk account).

Installing gtalk video did restart my phone but after reboot I can't play any music files. I get a warning that's says "Can't play file". When trying to watch a video, I get a "Can't play video as the audio's being used by another app".

I was listening to music while I was intalling the application, so Im not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Did any of you experience this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ok downloaded. Attempting to make Gtalk video calls between to N9s and the call starts fine but hangs up within 4 seconds every time.

Anyone else having these problems?

I think who are program.. can recovery GT App to Skype App.. Only search the words GT for skype and the skype ready in Nokia N9 with Video Call

Did it work for anyone with the back camera on N950? Doesn't work for me. If it fails for everyone, I'll update the bug for it.

It worked for me using a personal XMPP server (ejabberd) to a gtalk buddy, although the gtalk client on his android phone crashed a couple of minutes into the video call.

I had the same problem :(

When I tried first, the other client was a Chrome, and it didn't work. Next, I tried with Explorer and it worked perfectly :)

Did you try with Chrome?

First log in into your XMPP account (i.e. make status on-line). Then open your contacts choose someone on-line. There should be an option for text chat, audio and video calls.

There is no option for video call! i have a friend on and i have my self. doesn't give video option

didn't worked with desktop gtalk programm, but worked in Opera!:)
finally we got it. waiting for skype videocalls now.

Skype video calls will come soon. I think it will be either through the integrated Skype or Peregrine app. I emailed Peregrine to ask them if they have a time scale for video calling. I will let you know what they say. Fingers crossed! :)

The video call works amazing with the front/back camera selection feature.... but... my stock camera app (including other camera app like HDR etc) stops working once I use video call.

I have to reboot the phone. :confused:

Umm... not sure why everyone is drinking champagne and singing and dancing. I tried to get this and it was a fail for me. I have PR1.2, I tried downloading the app from Nokia store, and my N9 rebooted before the usual "Launch" screen appeared in the Store.

N9 rebooted, so I went online in my Google Talk account, my gf went online via her laptop, but when I clicked on her contact, only the usual Google Talk button was available, no video option of any kind.

Went back to Store, it told me the download/install had an 'error' and I needed to reinstall, so I tried to download again, but I was told I could not as it was 'already downloaded'. (Annoyed deep breath). So I uninstalled the app (rebooted itself again - a bit annoying) and tried the whole thing a second and third time. FAIL.

Uninstalled this for the last time. Now my N9 is laggy, (it took about 20 seconds to open a text a friend sent me) but hope that is temporary.

I find it very weird that half the community are in this video chat party, but plenty of people are having major, major problems. Any smart people know what the F is up with this?

I don't know, but I have yet to update my N9 past PR1.1. If you are interested why, read about it here:

You will know really quickly why I don't plan to update to PR1.2, let others complain and get Nokia to fix the problems, My N9 works flawlessly on PR1.1 at the current moment.

I have exactly the same problem and have uninstalled it for the third and final time .... Well at least until the bug is fixed.

Same here, and even worse :(
After the crash of install/uninstall, It does not have the "swipe to answer", which is a good thing most of the time. When in a call or when waiting to answer, the screen saver kicks.

If any one has any suggestion how to restore, or which files are corrupted I would love to hear it :)

I had these strange installation problems (when it says there was an error during installation etc.) twice. Uninstalled, re-installed, hated the re-boots... This is lousy, really. The whole PR 1.2 experience is a mess.

Anyway, after the third attempt to install this thing it seems to work. I can at least call myself. ;) (I initiate a call from my N9 with the Google Talk account online to my desktop PC where I'm online with a regular XMPP-account.)

The only thing I notice (I hate these small bugs) is that the smaller video on the N9 - the window that shows what the other party will see - goes black after a few seconds. The call still continues and my video is still visible on the other end of the line, I just cannot see what I'm showing to them at the moment.

for all those having problems after the installation, try the following:

-get the contact to appear online
-make a regular gtalk call to the contact
-disconnect the call and make sure the avatar of your contact shows the green "online status" dot
-now go back to the contacts app and find the contact, you'll see the video call option in the gtalk services option (will upload screenshot later for your reference)

My experience with the installation was nice and easy.
After automatically rebooting itself and logging me into gtalk, i could not find the videocall option. Had to set my status to offline then online and it all worked like a charm after that.

Called my friend on his galaxy note and then he called me back a few minutes later with no problem

The screen orientation was wierd though, its like a window to the left that covers less than half the screen, saw it go fullscreen for a second and then back to left

It could be improved upon but i'm happy

Hi, guys. Those who have problems with installing gtalk video calls, try this:
1. downloading the software on the PC. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34051204/vid....5-1_armel.deb (sorry that I give my link with dropbox), or download it from OVI store to PC.
2. load a video-call-installer to the phone => in folder Downloads
3. open a terminal, enter the devel-su, get root, write "cd /home/user/MyDocs/Downloads" , and do "dpkg -i video-call-installer_1_446132.0.5-1_armel.deb" , without " ".

try and write about the results.

Oh no, now i have it, too: camera does not work any more after installing this. Their development team is not as good add it used to be in the maemo-days.

Today I saw there is an update for gtalk video calls. I tried to install this update, but installations failed. Now I cannot use the gtalk anymore, cannot install, reinstall or unistall. Someone had the same problem?

I tried to install it, the screen went blank, I assumed it was rebooting. Then in red letters on the side, rescuing software update, please do not interrupt and now it is busy loading. I was worried, I waited, then I tested it out and Gtalk video works soooo much better now it's awesome.

Today there was a new update for GTalk Video call in the Store (strange enough I didn't get an update notification in the homescreen, not even after going to Manage Programs and clicking on the refresh button in the Update screen, wasn't PR1.2 supposed to bring this feature?).
