Flashing the eMMC in the N900: Suitable USB device not found, waiting

I am trying to follow this link to complete flash of my nokia n900. Some reason latest N900 firmware update to the phone disabled my ringer in my phone. Ringer wasn't working when someone calls me. But vibrating fine. Beeps for SMS. But no ringing sound when someone calls me. So I decided to flash it with FIASCO aka *COMBINED*, flashing process worked on Windows XP 32-bit but didn't fix the ringer problem. So Now I need to go back to factory default with eMMC aka *VANILLA*. After going through the steps below:

http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_t...MC_in_the_N900

I get USB device is found and then goes on to say suitable device is not found. What is this mean? Am I holding 'u' key too long or some other issue? Please help. (Windows XP 32-bit and Flasher-3.5)

if you are using windows xp, install service pack 3 and nokia pc suite so it would include the usb drivers.

Do you by any chance run 64bit win XP??

It is 32bit, not 64bit. Any other way to fix my phone and get it to work?

I also have Windows 7 64bit and Mac OS X 10.6. Is there any way to fix this phone on Windows 7 64bit or Mac OS X 10.6 if I can't do this on Windows XP 32 bit machine?

Re: Flashing the eMMC in the N900: Suitable USB device not found, waiting

Windows 7 64bit:

I have downloaded flasher 3.5
I have downloaded libusb-win32-bin-1.2.2.0.zip

Now pressing U while N900 is being to attached the USB.

Quote:

Wait for the original driver to install <- step is failing.
Anyway I went to next step, running inf-wizard.exe.

I select the item with the following properties:

Vendor ID 0x0421
Product ID 0x01C7
Manufacturer Name: Nokia Mobile Phones
Device Name: N900 (Storage Mode)

Ran the flasher 3.5. But no success:

How can I fix this driver install issue:

Quote:

Wait for the original driver to install <- step is failing.
Soon as I plug in the N900 driver is not getting installed. It is failing.

Looking for help. Thanks.

I have no idea I've faced a few problems with 64 bit linux and win machines but it worked fine uinder 32 bit.. If this is a desktop try the USB ports on the back.

Re: Flashing the eMMC in the N900: Suitable USB device not found, waiting

All are laptops no desktop. Main issue is driver on N900 is not being installed on the laptop. When I plug in the N900 with pressing down U button, I get into the flash mode.

Then driver on the n900 tries to install on Windows XP 32 bit/Windows 7 64bit. But install fails.

Not sure what is wrong with 770Flasher on Mac OS 10.6.

Would it be safe to flash FIASCO aka *COMBINED* rather than eMMC aka *VANILLA* after attempted failure of eMMC? FIASCO firmware won't get me the ringer. I have to make sure this works. If driver causing the issue in Windows machine then this too won't work.

Going from current up to date firmware to FIASCO, no issue with drivers. All worked fine.

Now, from FIASCO -> VANILLA, brought up the driver issue failure on Windows Laptop machine.

Don't mess with x64 windoze, as it won't help here, nor is the case. I can't guarantee anything, but maybe Your NOLO is screwed? Search for "cold flashing" and try that.

Re: Flashing the eMMC in the N900: Suitable USB device not found, waiting

Success. Problem solved.

I flashed it with Windows 7 32bit laptop and Flasher 3.5. On this machine I only had Nokia PC Suite, not Nokia Ovi Suite. Everything is back to factory default.

For future reference I followed these steps for Windows 7 32 bit and Flasher 3.5:

try this link:

download libusb from here:

Happy ;)

Re: Flashing the eMMC in the N900: Suitable USB device not found, waiting

I tried to flash my n900 with firmware eemc using flasher 3.5 The first flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f worked then after when I used flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f it says flashing cmt-mcusw sending request 0X50 failed : No error and stops.
What's the solution for it. Also the device driver is not properly installed message pops some times.
