Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

there was a linux app running on java. Some people at TMO managed to run it on n900. Search TMO may be you will find it.

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

IIRC axel does just that. split the files and gets it.

http://my-maemo.com/software/applica...to=1876&faq=37

Haven't tried it yet, but my ISP does this kind of throttling

I tried many times to download stuffs but download speed is just 8kb/s 6kb/s or sometimes 12kb/s

....i think you are using AIRTEL network connection.
In india fastest 2G connection is provided by IDEA network about 30kb/s next was VIDEOCON network 20KB/S.....I am a IDEA user & no problem with downloading about 400mb file(3hours) also.so if you use fastest network than no problem during the download
(sorry for bad english)

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

im using Aircel it has maximum 30kb/s and for 95rs unlimited plan. but since few days the speed is slow and if i connect it to pc via n900 then it giver me 33 to 35kb/s

seanmcken 2012-03-06 06:36

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

actually im talking about an app (eg - nvideo - can download the video files. its just an example) or you can refer to internet download manager which is on windows, im trying to say that is we need an application for maemo which can be used for only downloading files. not an x terminal stuff. im convincing you developer guys to build such app. as we know the n900 also known as an mini computer. Download manager would be an great project for maemo

ok 30kb/s is accepted speed in 2g.due to network problem your data speed was reduced but it will rectified soon.

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

Support the idea to develop internet download manager for n900
its not the matter of just speed but to have more features while downloading

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

I have installed pyload on my N900 which even works with most of the uggly FileHosters out there like rapidshare.
It's written completely in Python and comes with a tiny web server to control it over http (the browser).

Works great, the only downside is cpu consumption, don't expect to it run more than 4 or 5 hours with loaded battery.

seanmcken 2012-03-07 10:15

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

but we still need a good downloader. no need of battery consuption matter

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

dude look at this

home/user/MyDocs # pyLoadCore
This is your first start, running configuration assistent now.
Choose your Language / Wähle deine Sprache ([en], de, fr, it, es, nl, sv, ru, pl, cs, sr, pt_BR): en

Welcome to the pyLoad Configuration Assistent.
It will check your system and make a basic setup in order to run pyLoad.

The value in brackets [] always is the default value,
in case you don't want to change it or you are unsure what to choose, just hit enter.
Don't forget: You can always rerun this assistent with --setup or -s parameter, when you start pyLoadCore.
If you have any problems with this assistent hit STRG-C,
to abort and don't let him start with pyLoadCore automatically anymore.

When you are ready for system check, hit enter.

## System Check ##
Python Version: OK
pycurl: OK
sqlite3: OK

pycrypto: OK
py-OpenSSL: missing

py-imaging: missing
tesseract: missing

PyQt4: OK

jinja2: OK
beaker: OK
JS engine: missing

System check finished, hit enter to see your status report.

## Status ##

Features available: container decrypting, GUI, Webinterface

Featues missing:

no SSL available
This is needed if you want to establish a secure connection to core or webinterface.
If you only want to access locally to pyLoad ssl is not usefull.

no Captcha Recognition available
Only needed for some hosters and as freeuser.

no JavaScript engine found
You will need this for some Click'N'Load links. Install Spidermonkey, ossp-js, pyv8 or rhino
You can abort the setup now and fix some dependicies if you want.
Continue with setup? ([y]/n): Y

Do you want to change the config path? Current is /home/user/MyDocs
If you use pyLoad on a server or the home partition lives on an iternal flash it may be a good idea to change it.
Change config path? (y/[n]): y
Setting new configpath, current configuration will not be transfered!
Configpath [/home/user/MyDocs]:
Configpath changed, setup will now close, please restart to go on.
Press Enter to exit.

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

Change the config path to
Code:

/home/user/.pyload
and change the download location to
Code:

/home/user/MyDocs/Downloads
(create the folder)
or to SDcard
Code:

/media/mmc1/Downloads
.

I felt the need of download manager once and created one for myself. Its just a simple downloader with very limited functionality but you can give it a try.

wget is quite powerful (not sure about MU/rapidshare types of sites, but works on gprs, supports continuing broken downloads... google 'man wget' to learn of its usage)

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

try this:

sudo run-standalone.sh /opt/usr/bin/downloadmanger

It should work. The desktop file I have created is pointing somewhere else.

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

try this:

sudo run-standalone.sh /opt/usr/bin/downloadmanager

Joseph:
Why would it require superuser privileges though?

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

I am not cent percent sure why I used sudo but most probably because I have confi file somewhere in /home/user which I was not able to save without sudoe (while i developed another app and same would apply for this one if I developed it further). I am unsure if this app will save anything at /home/user/Downloads if sudo is not used. I don't know how it to fix those permissions.
