Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

|
Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
IIRC axel does just that. split the files and gets it.
http://my-maemo.com/software/applica...to=1876&faq=37 Haven't tried it yet, but my ISP does this kind of throttling |
Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
I tried many times to download stuffs but download speed is just 8kb/s 6kb/s or sometimes 12kb/s
....i think you are using AIRTEL network connection. In india fastest 2G connection is provided by IDEA network about 30kb/s next was VIDEOCON network 20KB/S.....I am a IDEA user & no problem with downloading about 400mb file(3hours) also.so if you use fastest network than no problem during the download (sorry for bad english) |
Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
i think axel cant download files from premium accounts like wupload or 2shared
|
Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
im using Aircel it has maximum 30kb/s and for 95rs unlimited plan. but since few days the speed is slow and if i connect it to pc via n900 then it giver me 33 to 35kb/s
|
Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
actually im talking about an app (eg - nvideo - can download the video files. its just an example) or you can refer to internet download manager which is on windows, im trying to say that is we need an application for maemo which can be used for only downloading files. not an x terminal stuff. im convincing you developer guys to build such app. as we know the n900 also known as an mini computer. Download manager would be an great project for maemo

its not the matter of just speed but to have more features while downloading |

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
I have installed pyload on my N900 which even works with most of the uggly FileHosters out there like rapidshare.
It's written completely in Python and comes with a tiny web server to control it over http (the browser). Works great, the only downside is cpu consumption, don't expect to it run more than 4 or 5 hours with loaded battery. |
Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
but we still need a good downloader. no need of battery consuption matter
|
Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
how to use it plz write down whole stuff

Don't forget: You can always rerun this assistent with --setup or -s parameter, when you start pyLoadCore. I felt the need of download manager once and created one for myself. Its just a simple downloader with very limited functionality but you can give it a try.

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
wget is quite powerful (not sure about MU/rapidshare types of sites, but works on gprs, supports continuing broken downloads... google 'man wget' to learn of its usage)

Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
try this:
sudo run-standalone.sh /opt/usr/bin/downloadmanger It should work. The desktop file I have created is pointing somewhere else. |
Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
try this:
sudo run-standalone.sh /opt/usr/bin/downloadmanager Joseph: Why would it require superuser privileges though? |
Re: Download Manager For Nokia N900
I am not cent percent sure why I used sudo but most probably because I have confi file somewhere in /home/user which I was not able to save without sudoe (while i developed another app and same would apply for this one if I developed it further). I am unsure if this app will save anything at /home/user/Downloads if sudo is not used. I don't know how it to fix those permissions.
