[REQUEST] Auto hiding status bar for nokia N9 as implemented on windows phone.
We all know that the n9 screen is sensitive to screenburns because of the type of led it uses. I want to request an script that makes the notification bar (batery, hour, operator) to hide when using the phone in prolongated times. And then re appear at request, when tapping.
this is neatly implemented in wp7 and it works nicely. I dont to see my battery indicator forever on ny screen and what is worse is that i have already seen people with this issue. So why not avoid it?? remember that the n9 is one of its type, and maybe the last maemo/meego flagship we will ever see and we all want to keep it fit for a long time. so who says 'me'?? |

We do? This happens? Has anyone had this happen to their N9? Got pics? |
Re: [request] Screen saver for the notification bar.
Do you have an n9?
try using the browser in landscape and check the left lower corner, you may see a very faint ghost of the battery indicator. if you dont see it its maybe because you dont have enough time with your n9. I have mine from october and can see a very faint ghost |
Re: [request] Screen saver for the notification bar.
I've had mine since November. I'll check it out.

THIS IS a bad example of it. This one is very bad. Its very hard to pick it up on the camera I think, all it is, is the organic material in the pixels depleting, after showing the same things in the same area. This is why computers have screensaver. Well older monitors anyways. To stop burn in. |
Re: [request] Screen saver for the notification bar.
Your display BROKEN! Go to Nokia Care and replace display FOR FREE!

Re: [request] Screen saver for the notification bar.
i think part of the problem is the wording for the title of the post. For ex. You titled, screensaver for notification bar. A better title would be. :[REQUEST] Auto hiding status bar for nokia N9. as implemented on windows phone. live and learn i suppose.

lets hope someone who knows how to do it sees/hears your request... Only thing I dislike about the auto hiding status bar of windows phone, is the fact you cannot choose when to hide and not to hide, eg, hiding when not in use is good, but there should be an option to switch auto hiding off for a while, ie you might be on the internet and want to know if it is slow because of network problems... As of now, microsoft has chosen, always hide when not in use apart from charging I think.... |
Re: REQUEST] Auto hiding status bar for nokia N9 as implemented on windows phone.
The developer of the N9 quicktweak app is Schturman, look him up here, send him a pm.
dcastrog your amoled is defective, once again go to Nokia Care and GET IT REPLACED FOR FREE. Please everyone stop fanning the fire, some of these threads are getting ridiculous. I have had my N9 since September 2011 and there have been no issues with it what-so-ever and I've flashed it over 100 times (10 times in the past 2 days alone) All of my errors are user errors, nothing more. Now please stup posting nonsense and uneducated opinions and start posting useful stuff. |

I know how to take care of my phone. Only an idiot would keep their phone's screen switched on, on maximum brightness, and only displaying the same thing (ex. a photo, or the news feed, or anything in the phone's interface) for an unreasonable amount of time (like 30 minutes to an hour). |
Re: REQUEST] Auto hiding status bar for nokia N9 as implemented on windows phone.
I have had my N9 since Sept '11. Only "burn" I notice is on the Switcher HS when "Nothing Open Yet". You can see there are "blotches" but that is it.
I use my N9, for hours and hours on the lowest brightness and have never experienced this issue. As others have said, yes it may be a nice feature, but get a replacement from Nokia Care |
Re: REQUEST] Auto hiding status bar for nokia N9 as implemented on windows phone.
I've had my N9 since Oct 2010, and haven't seen any burn effects on my display. And I've abused my device with max brightness & disable screensaver etc. So I would say useless feature.
If you have problems with your device, then go to Nokia Care. |

This Windows phone "feature" is stupid. When I was browsing the web on my Lumia 800 I had to keep tapping the top of my screen (to check whether i lost the connection) whenever the browser was being slow.
Reception indicators should always be there IMO. But I guess if this is possible then more choice is always good. |
Re: REQUEST] Auto hiding status bar for nokia N9 as implemented on windows phone.
@mohannad i think auto hide is good. If there is choice. That is why in an earlier post i said. They should have given a choice to hide sometimes and other not. for me. There are times i dont want to see the status bar. And other times i do. -- people are different and there is no one size fits all in this world. So thats just me. But agreed with you. More choice. Better

I was going to comment but i held my peace, at first i thought maybe he made a mistake, and ment 2011 Oct, because that seams logical, then after that i thought, Is Nokia giving us Old technology? from 2010, but then i was like, Better not say anything, because this might make nokia look bad. |

People are so quick to assume people are lying here. So childish. If you pay attention to rainisto's posts, it's clear he works for Nokia as well. |

OK, confirmed.
I had this too on my N9. Made in Finland. Nov 2011. It's like 1/6 of the upper screen is brighter than the rest. Obvious in bright background. Using max brighteness from the beginning. Little bit annoying, but since my N9 was not in guarantee terms (i got it free from IdeasProject), looks like i have to used to this condition forever. :( |

Here in Indonesia, if you want to fix a Nokia device, you must have the receipt and the Nokia indonesia guarantee card to gain a free labour work fee and/or parts cost. |

I had an experience with Sony (Sony Ericsson) where i claimed on the warranty, they asked me to send the phone, and they turned back and say, it is unrepairable but if i want the phone back, I must pay for labour and stuff, I let them have the phone, but i did not think it was worth it, Later on, i find out all the phone needed was to be flashed. But they gave me wrong analysis data, they said the resin was broken. it was Very cold when the phone just randomly turned off and when starting up, it failed to come on, only showing me a white screen, but all it needed was to be reflashed. |

After few days reading ebook using fbreader, I realize now that the status bar has burned in and it's visible when something else come on top of it. Well, it's not that bad as status bar is always visible anyway but some hiding-feature could be great.

Re: [REQUEST] Auto hiding status bar for nokia N9 as implemented on windows phone.
One year later and same old problem. I want to hide the status bar from a few applications. For example FBreader because I sometimes read in the dark and the bright white fonts are disturbing.
Is there now a solution for this, for example toggle via a desktop icon, or is my best bet to contract the developers of the applications? |
