What would make my N9 perfect!

I was thinking about what could make my N9 the perfect phone.
So I will list what I need and the reason if applicable
PS:These are not impossible to achieve

- Hardware acceleration : The N9 really takes its time while doing most of the tasks. Needs to be faster and more fluid

- Unified Massages : Combine SMS and IM into a single converstation (WebOS style)

- Dropbox folder Syncronization : the account is there, now need to configure a deamon to sync a folder we chose

- Populate Gtalk converstaions history : I have a bug filed for it Bug 1024

- Ability to quickly post to facebook and/or Twitter : filed an enhancement request for this also Bug 1025

- Buffer progress when streaming a video : Bug 795

- Data counter auto reset on a defined interval : Bug 477

- Make Search part of the OS : The app is slow to launch and has unnessesary recent items loading that slow it down even more.

- Replace built-in RSS reader with ColoRSS while retaining the view all function

- Notifications to appear on the dropdown menu like every other OS out there : filed a request for it Bug 590

- Key apps : Whatsapp and Shazam

The rest are small bugs that needs to be fixed, here are a few
- Contacts sync
- email zoom when launched from notification
- Push Notifications

Immediate update to fully-functioning-faster-and-without-a-hitch PR1.3 plus a refund from Nokia of 50% of the current retail price - perfect!!!

:D

Plus - I could definitely do with a unified massage... :p

N9 is almost perfect. UX is brilliant. Basic software is good and in market-ready state after PR1.2. All I need is simply different kind of incarnations. With keyboard or With PureView tech... maybe Cutted size low price...
I think so.

Re: What would make my N9 perfect!

Better boot up screen. With better custom variety of Boot up videos my N9 would be so much better. I don't like the current NOKIA
But can't disagree Pureview and qwerty combined whit Meego would be something indeed. :p

Are you insinuating that the N9 has no HW acceleration right now? Really?

So you really filed a bug report requesting that Nokia change the N9's UI to be more like EVERY OTHER UI that's out there?

Just buy a god damned Android phone already...

yes hw acceleration seems to be absent on most parts judging by the lag and waiting time

abt the every other os, I outlined the notification part only as its counter intuitive as it is. No neeed to act as if somebody effended u personally

and btw, I already have an android device

you forgot 41mp PureView...
and creme-de-la-creme: the price for similar Droid device you're moaning about would be 1200 USD:)
you can have pretty decent amp for that..
calm down you guys, we're talking about some 300 EURish N9 here (at least that's the price you can get brand new N9 around here)
the specs and features you'd love to see on it would make it more expensive than iPhone 5 or GS3...

The biggest bug for me which still has not been addressed by PR1.2 is the inability to initiate a Skype call when in flight mode but connected to WiFi.

oh for ****s sake not another one of these threads...

HW acceleration is there

Why would you want the OS to copy every other OS out there with a drop down notifications centre? When you can swipe and have it...

you guys are unbelievable!

So would you care to tell me how fast I can resolve the following senario as fast as possible on the N9?

I am in the multitasking screen, clicked on a webpage card, while viewing the webpage, I got an sms

now, the page am reading is important to me and I don't wanna leave it. So how can I glance who sent the sms and the first few word and get back to my webpage? Assuming I missed the quick preview that lasted a second only

What the f**k?
What hardware acceleration are you asking for? Harmattan already uses hard floating point and Thumb, and the UI uses OpenGL.
Without OpenGL, it'd be like running ICS on the G1.

Also, the notifications are truly global (just swipe!), not like on Android where some fullscreen apps disallow you from getting yer notifications (hurr.)

The lag is typical of Nokia devices.
See: Every Nokia handheld ever made.

I didn't know u were part of the Nokia development team Mr. Fanboy
U just admitted that it lags but in the same time claim all kind of hardware support were implemented! Well this lag is unacceptable in this day and time sir

As for the notifications, I gave a scenario some posts ago, comment on that please

The software already uses the hardware features offered to it to make it go faster. This doesn't mean that the thing is fast all the time.
Hardware acceleration has NOTHING to do with program launch times (assuming you're launching a CLI program)
All it does is offload OpenGL to the GPU (2 year old SGX530, same as in N900, Nokia being stingy wrt specs AGAIN) and video processing to the DSP (which is inferior to the one on the N8. Hurr durr.)

This is a hardware issue, WONTFIX, moff moff.

As for the notifications, imo the current system is fine by me, and a dropdown will simply add more clutter.
But that's my opinion.

Re: What would make my N9 perfect!

I do not need extra features, nor more applications than currently available. All I need is improvements in stability, reliability and energy efficiency. Feature set is there, make it work rock solid.
There are several major issues that need to be addressed in PR1.3:
- I lost all my contacts out of no where. All messages. All call log. That should not happen!
- bug with always up-to-date e-mail accounts - must be fixed.
- internet connection issue bug - must be fixed.

May be several other really small bug fixes and enhancements and N9 will be perfect for me!

install swipe manager and set one of them to the notifications, you get sms swipe left or whatever direction and then choose your sms

Re: What would make my N9 perfect!

I've been reading a lot and been hearing a lot of clamor for Nokia to release the N9 in markets that were previously reserved for the Lumia line. Just wishful thinking but I do think that Nokia has the basic elements of a successful phone spread out over several units (don't they always?). Anyhow, If Nokia were to release a new Harmattan phone without going back too much to the drawing board, here's what I'd definitely want: (Nokia N10/N9i?)

Hardware:
Lumia 800 body with the camera button
Non-Pentile Amoled screen
Latch-less charging port
Better/Updated CPU/GPU
Long Shots..I know.
Gyro
12-20 mpx with 3-5mpx Pureview
Xenon flash
FM Transmitter
USB-on-the-Go
Higher Cap battery

Software:
Wider range of video codecs
WP like speed and stability
Whatsapp, Shazam
Bug fixes, refinements etc.
