Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Take it easy and mind your language. Get a cup of tea and wait.
You use the best platform, but you should use the flashing script.

The first issue I see is your USB device:
Suitable USB device not found, waiting.
USB device found found at bus 002, device address 010.
Found device RX-51, hardware revision 2204
NOLO version 1.4.14

and then later on:
Booting device into flash mode.
Suitable USB device not found, waiting.
USB device found found at bus 002, device address 011.
Raw data transfer EP found at EP2.

Care to explain? Then what about flashing eMMC first?

Thats (hopefully) the right Order

sudo flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f

sudo flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.003_PR_COMBINED_003_ARM.bin -f -R

Make then 2 directories: "emmc" and "os".

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Hi sorry for the delay and sorry for being temper.
I am not sure why I am getting this. The usb cable never plug out while am flashing.
Suitable USB device not found, waiting.
USB device found found at bus 002, device address 010.

and then later on:
Booting device into flash mode.
Suitable USB device not found, waiting.
USB device found found at bus 002, device address 011.
Raw data transfer EP found at EP2.

I also flash in different ways. First combined and vanilla or first vanilla and combined. but same result. I also enable r&d mode but got never ending dot I left it for 5 hours still never ending dots loop.
I am not into linux don't really know how to make a script and then flash I am so blank.
I have tried global version, Indian version and pr.1.2 no progress.
Is it possible to flash with meego and make it working?

Is there any hope that I could bring back my phone back to life?
I don't have any other phone so i don't know what to do...

Is this a new phone?

It is acting like the usb port is dead or dying. If that is the case, there is not much you can do but get the usb fixed.

I bought this in 2010. The usb is perfectly working fine on n900. But I believe its my computer usb faulty cause I am using a usb hub which you can stick into the motherboard.

Please read here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...1&postcount=15

And try to avoid an usb hub. Connect your phone directly at one of the usb back ports of your computer. ;)

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

I see that you are flashing with old firmware (2010.36-2).
If your N900 was with newer than that, then you can't go back.
Download the latest (2011.38.1)

Hi there, yes I had downloaded this with Navifirm some time ago. flashed with it together with the latest emmc from tablets-dev and all went well. did not really remember that it is not to be found in tablets-dev.

No, he did NOT mean "Nokia Care Suite 4 Store 2011.38.1".
As you are correct that it is not listed for download, I guess the only way is to install 2010.36-2 and then update to 2011.38-1.

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Hi good people!

I am here again with no joy. What I have done :-
I was able to flash both combined image and emmc without any problem. While inserting the usb to my pc I don't even have to press the 'U' key on the keyboad cause my PC detect automatically. Successfully flash on Ubuntu and Windows XP SP3 without any problem but I still my Nokia N900 won't boot up.

If I flash with R&D enable the loading dots keeps going forever after. But if I disabled R&D mode the loading dots comes roll in a few seconds and turn off. This is the behavior.

So the only way to boot up my device is to remove the battery while it is flashing in R&D mode.

Sending kernel image (1705 kB)...
100% (1705 of 0 kB, avg. 1705 kB/s)
Flashing kernel... done.
Sending and flashing rootfs image (185856 kB)...
100% (185856 of 0 kB, avg. 185856 kB/s)
Finishing flashing... done
Erasing CMT: 66%Sending request 0x12 failed: No error

So as you can see here I remove the battery at 66% while flashing. And then I turn the power button on. Yes it will boot but with a message "All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disable due to communication error. To recover, you might have to reboot the device."

So the sims doesn't work, no wifi and no charging.

So why is it not booting up if I am able to flash properly both on Ubuntu and Windows XP SP3 with (RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.003_PR_COMBINED_003_ARM) and (RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM). What am I doing wrong.

I have this problem after attempt to install android on emmc.

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Btw. have you read and tried all this??? And please always use a full battery and no usb hubs. (try also leaving battery out for a few hours, then start again)

From the wiki
Quote:

Note that flashing eMMC will delete the /opt directory, so you *always* need to reflash your rootfs (the COMBINED image) after - or same time as - flashing eMMC (VANILLA img)
Quote:

When flashing the eMMC content, the safe way is flash the eMMC/VANILLA image first, then remove battery for a moment, and then flash the FIASCO/Rootfs image. Do not boot up the device between the two i.e do NOT use the -R parameter at the end!

Also see troubleshooting section, bullet 6:"If you cannot establish..."

Rationale: on accidental booting in between the 2 flash processes, the sequence formerly suggested (rootfs first) will result in a broken system. The sequence "eMMC first, then rootfs" is checked back with Nokia affiliates and is proven to work as long as your rootfs still is somewhat functional. Note however that eMMC flashing will fail when your rootfs is completely messed up, the recommended flash sequence then is rootfs, eMMC, rootfs *again*.
For users familiar with flashing and interested in a smooth fast process: you can flash combined first, and then *immediately* after that - without one 10th of a second of booting - directly continue with flashing the vanilla. The other way round doesn't work due to a bug in NOLO - so after flashing vanilla you need to remove battery to recover

Cheers,

J4ZZ :D

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Hmmm, this is really strange mate...

I'm starting to think that you probably need another firmware.
So do you know if it probalby needs another firmware variant?
like:
Maemo 5 USA release for Nokia N900
Maemo 5 Middle East and North Africa release for Nokia N900
Maemo 5 India release for Nokia N900
Maemo 5 UK release for Nokia N900

Or another idea would be trying another simcard, or ask your provider for a new one.

Last thing that comes to my mind is:
do you get the loading animation? the dots? If so how patient have you been? Because the very first boot after flashing could at least take a few (minutes) seconds... ;)

Sorry, for not being able to help you more...

Yeah I have already tried
the following..
1. Maemo 5 Global
2. Maemo 5 Middle East and North Africa release for Nokia N900
3. Maemo 5 India release for Nokia N900

I haven't tried USA or UK variant though.

If I re-flash with enable R&D mode and pull the battery at Erasing CMT: 66% the animation dots shows for about 2 minutes and then boot up with the Nokia Handshake with an error code "All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disable due to communication error. to recover, you might have to reboot the device." In this mode sims is not working, charging is not working and no wifi.

If I re-flashed with disable R&D mode the Animation dots appears for about 20 seconds and turn it off.

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Sorry to see you are still in the same situation.
I am not certain it's a firmware downgrade problem as I suggested before, but the "telephony functions disabled" message does show up in those situations.
If you would care to try with the firmware I suggested before the direct link from nokia navifirm servers is this

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Ok, this starts to sound like a hardware failure (and SIM card related)

But I would definitely try to flash the latest firmware given by evan!

Another idea:

Have you tried the paper-between-battery-and-SIM trick yet? And for the "All telephony functions, including emergency calls..."-error you could have look here Just read the two pages and maybe you'll be a lucky guy.

I found one more way to get the device working again when the reason is max reboot count:
Try that on a plugged in wall charger or with USB port on PC after you successfully flashed both VANILLA and COMBINED image. (do not interrupt at 66%)

- take battery out

- insert USB cable (to boot device with charging boot reason)

- insert battery & put back cover back

- remove USB cable

Good Luck,

Hi jazz
I am here again the paper trick didn't work on me. Also I have tried flashing my device with the latest fw. even tried with pr1.1 global, us, uk, india and middle east variant. old vanilla as well. Still no joy.

When trying to boot it stop at *(*)*** and then shut down.

I also tried this with no joy
Code:

Try that on a plugged in wall charger or with USB port on PC after you successfully flashed both VANILLA and COMBINED image. (do not interrupt at 66%)

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Hello Good People

I've got a good news here. Today after a long break with my N900 I decided to test the battery with new one
Hallelujah
and it works work like a charms. Tested it and double tested it again and triple its fine. Bye bye all communication error.

How can it be a coincidence after installing nitdroid could break my working battery. Anyway it doesn't matter anymore. Now I know how maemo was so good I would never try any thing other than maemo. Maemo is simple enough.

I want to rename my thread as SOLVED.

Here is my success story in short. Might be helpful for others.
1. My N900 in a working state.
2. Install nitrdoid.
3. Cannot boot Maemo or Nitdroid
4. Flash with different firmware from all the available images and vanilla from HERE. Successfully flashed but no joy. Tried it on Ubuntu no joy.
5. After fiddling for a weeks I discover it work in rd mode if I interrupt my device while it is doing a flash. But can't get ride of all communication error

Re: Nokia N900 still won't boot even after flashing. Please HELP

Hello guys,

I just encountered the same problem as the user iJack described. My build number is 2204 and i have tried flashing with both the vanilla image and the firmware after that; in addition, i have also tried cold boot as well. in all the steps, the device flashes, but it does not start up. it gets stuck on the nokia logo screen and it turns off after say 15 seconds. Can anyone please help me how to power this thing. The sad thing is that this particular one is brand new; i bought it to have it as a collection. sigh.....

Thanks
