1.2 BIG Disappointment
I had not updated my N9 because frankly, it was working just fine.
These were the issues prior to the update: 1.) An internet connectivity bug that occurred somewhat frequently - Usually after several days, the internet connect would no longer connect automatically. If connected manually, the device would connect, but would not be able to use the connection at all. 2.) Rough accuracy with copy/paste. 3.) Inability to copy/paste tweets. I mean, really... 4.) With bluetooth headset connected, a static type interference sound could be heard when 3G/Wifi was connecting or down/uploading 5.) Can't sync twitter accounts with contacts. Twitter accounts aren't even given their own contact field. After the update: 1.) Internet connection doesn't disconnect unless you lose service or enable airplane mode, even with 'Allow Background connections' set to OFF. The symbol remains visible. Although by the looks of the battery consumption, it's not active the entire time. 2.) Copy/Paste accuracy is MUCH improved. 3.) Still can't copy/paste tweets for reply. I mean, really... 4.) Bluetooth issue resolved. 5.) Still no contact space for twitter accounts, but if the person's contact name in your address book is the exact same as their name on twitter (which isn't likely) it will merge the two automatically. You still can't manually add a twitter account to their contact though. 6.) Twitter no longer updates constantly. I'm sure this was done to save battery power in some way, but this is annoying. Now, I can't tell when I'm getting twitter mentions because the app itself doesn't update frequently enough. It would help if there were a setting to customize how often you want it to update, but there isn't even that. The twitter feed on your notification page will update, but it of course doesn't show your mentions, retweets, or DM's. 7.) The UI seems generally slower. I'm not sure exactly how much and exactly what ways, but it doesn't feel as fluid as the first time. EDIT: 8.) The Drive app does not open anymore. Navigation works fine, but opening drive for voice navigation after plotting a course in Maps simply did not work. After 8 minutes of waiting and almost missing my turns completely, I just followed my path in the Maps app. BIG mess up there. The Maps/Drive apps worked seamlessly together before. It's disappointing to have a phone with the utmost potential and have it be treated like a stepchild. This could be the best phone ever. No exaggeration. Hopefully somebody will care enough to make this a perfect phone with the next update. |
Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
did you do a full reflash? when you do most this will be fixed.
|
Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
How do I do a full reflash?
|
Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
I'm pretty sure that all of these will be fixed in pr 1.3, when ever it comes.
|
Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
How long have you been using pr 1.2? It was buggy for about a day until everything settled down, Consumed a full charge in about 12hrs when i updated but found it to be a big improvement after that.

Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
You still can retweet with an edit.

Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
download the flasher tool and the firmware file and emmc if you want and run
flasher -f -F firmware.bin -F emmc.bin -R or just flasher -f -F firmware.bin -R if you only want to flash the firmware and leave the userspace untouched, the first command will delete all your files |
Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
Good thread to help you with flashing:

> 1.) Internet connection doesn't disconnect unless you lose service
This works (for me) if you enable powersave mode. Otherwise it stays on. > EDIT: 8.) The Drive app does not open anymore. Navigation works I had a similar problem. It turns out it was related to the navigation voice I had chosen. Try to reset the voice to its default in settings, then the app will load, and you can download the new voice you want and after that, switch to it. I hope you can fix your issues soon enough. |

Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
1.2 is a big disappointment no browser improvement, sometimes threads are mixed, stutters, lags, pic quality inferior to iPhone. I guess Carl Zeiss lost it. Overall N9 has joined the long line of Taliban phones

Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
Haha yes it failed because people didn't buy it, not because Nokia didn't advertise it, not because Nokia killed it off, not because it want released in a lot of Europe, since so many reviews love the phone. But as usual your right and the people who's job it is are wrong.as usual in true fanboy fashion duck you

Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
Wow. People are getting heated at Lumiaman? I mean... once I saw that name, I knew it was going to be a countdown until he pissed off everybody in a way that would equate to epic entertainment.

Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
I just ordered and N9 that should be here tomorrow.
I'm assuming the first thing I should do is flash to 1.2, but should I use the Nokia app or the command line flash tool? As for the Lumia troll boy - don't fee him! |
Re: 1.2 BIG Disappointment
command line ftw
