Nokia Maps in Israel
Just arrived in Israel - was assuming I could use Nokia Maps on my N9 here, but when I tried to download, there is no Israel to be found.
And on the WiFi network, it doesn't download any detail for where it correctly shows I am... just major routes, no city streets. Fail Nokia  |
Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
Yep.. No Israel maps..

Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
Afaik ISR is in eurasia emmc image.
Afaik its for political reasons Israel is not shown as option in UI. |
Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
Stupid political reasons... Good program that people want to use, but can't..

Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
The only two usable map services are Google Maps and Waze, there's an unofficial port of the latter for Harmattan. Both services require an Internet connection.

Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
Thanks for the info. I plan on going to Jerusalem in a couple of months. I have an N9 so is Waze still the only option for GPS then? Also which rental car service you guys recommend. I saw Sixt has great deals but their reputation isn't the best?

Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
Quick reply...
I use Modrana on N900. It's also available on N9, but provides less features. Nevertheless, this application stores maps offline, and might be capable of offline routing. http://modrana.org/trac/wiki/SystemP...NokiaN9andN950 |
Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
Cool news ! Finally Nokia released maps for Israel ! Yehaaaa :)
I downloaded it now and played a little with it. Tomorrow I will try navigation. One little problem, it not have hebrew voices, but it not a problem for me at least, because I can use Russian or English voices :D |

Drive-setting-navigation voices :) PS. All map (streets) written in English, but its not a problem, to find the address (street), you can use Hebrew. This map not so competed, its not know some places (names), but it can see the place it self. After waze, search also not so good if you want find specific place, not address or maybe i don't know use it right. Navigation is good, also in offline mode. :) |
Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
Guys who use this map, please write here your experiences, tips for searching places etc..
Also if someone know where we can find Hebrew voices, maybe from some symbian devices like N8 if this have Hebrew voices and if this the same format of this files... Thanks. |
Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
The best map by far is Sygic, good Hebrew and English Israel maps including some addresses in the West Bank. You need to extract the Israel map eng or heb .mlm map file from a Symbian, IOS, or Android install.
|
Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
I know about Sygic and I used it on my N900, I also know about this tricks with maps and voices, but we don't have Sygic on N9/50... Also the latest Israeli map that worked on N900 is from 2009...
In Nokia Maps/Drive another formats, you can't use files from Sygic 2009... |

Re: Nokia Maps in Israel
Choose Asia and you will see Israel in the list. If you have any map installed, press on right lower corner and choose "add map" - "Asia".
