well just curious :P of how many people wish to keep their n900's till it dies i know i will :D Love my n900 :* well mainly because of all the :) community people its the best device :D a noob question will their be a time come when n900 browser cant browse sites correctly if so about when ?

im using 2 nokia n900 nw,this phone is superb really fantastic maybe i will plan 2 buy n9 soon,thanks for the developers,ive been appriciated all the support 4 this phone,

I'm keeping mine - I'm still discovering new uses for it even up to now!

Think I'm going to get the new Galaxy S3 or something similar when it comes out, but will be keeping this as my tablet :)

will get a 808 PV for the camera soon with my contract renewal, but the N900 will remain my primary phone 'til a device with OS2013 comes out.
who knows, with hw keyboard & mSDXC slot :D

Like stayloa above, I too am still finding new things to do with the n900. For example this week where I learned that if you set the alarm and turn off your phone, then the alarm will still go off, then I learned that we can run blender 3D on the n900! (old to some, new to me and still very cool)

Now I'm still trying to teach my self python and with the Raspberry Pi coming arriving soon, there will no doubt a whole new era of tinkering fun with the n900 coming as we use it to manipulate th R-Pi.

Still gonna get an n9 too.

I have one left, and will keep it. However I wouldn't mind buy a new one who doesn't have the white spot issue :/ So I am checkin tradera.se alot latelly for a second N900 :D

edit: one day I remember when my N900 stopped booting and before reflashing it I used to just get it in my hands and look at it. I don't know but I feel that there is something captivating in its shape/cover irrespective of its wonderful OS side.

same here i got 2 n900
i just cloned them so if one dies i got another one with the exact setup...

(bought it from my sister for 100$ its the replacement from n97 when she complained to bbb because nokia wont give her money back, its either new n97 which she dont want or n900, im happy because thats when i started to play with n900 and bought one myself) btw she uses s2 now.

If you have a mostly white screen (e.g. a web page with a white background) you may notice bright spots in the display. All three of my N900s have this issue to a greater or lesser extent, are there any that don't suffer from this to some degree?

my n900 departed from me. but i still won't departed from her. she is my first love, n9 will be my wife and my first kid will more advance and my grand kid will be super duper.

Bought one.

Decided that I'll stay with another one in case this one dies. At least until Nokia makes something else that might just be the kind I'm looking for.

Oh, I may have to watch out for that. I can't say that I ever noticed this on mine before. I have just tried a test too by opening a blank canvas in mypaint and could not see a spot, maybe I'm just lucky so far.

That said, now I know this issue exists I will probably become increasingly paranoid about it. :D

I have two and i will keep them going as long as it is possible.
-Hopefully... there will be a new open linuxbased mobile-computer in the market by the time they both have died.

Regarding spots...
Is there a scratch on the screen where the spot is?
I have a small lineshaped spot following a deep scratch in the display, but i usually dont notice it.

as AnsasSyria said i'll keep it untill i die nobody knows maybe tomorrow.now ......:D and there is many people around me got N900 maybe if mine die i could buy a used one at least ;)
and also im wondering could the CPU or the memory get crached by the time as like computers ?...

I have two N900s and plan to keep them forever. right now, I have a 10 inch Acer Iconia 500 Android about six inches from my N900 -- but I'm using my N900; it's more convenient and more fun.

Maemo 5 is the best os ! i have ever seen i mean it handles so many tasks so well with such less amount of ram and lacks processor speed but i guess 1 ghz overclock helped me alot here i just wish we get better hardware i dont mind using maemo 5 :) with some minore improvements such as swipe to close an app and portrait desktop support though without them still maemo 5 is the best :D

It's good that it doesn't affect everyone then. Maybe there are some models that aren't susceptible to this issue. If you're being paranoid, I have a theory that these spots are caused by excessive heat, so you might want to stay away from NITDroid (which can make the N900 run quite hot) and be careful with overclocking, unfortunately I haven't got a supply of fresh screens I can use to test this theory.

@electroaudio, I have several spots and no scratches, but my other less favoured theory is that they might be caused by excessive pressure to the touchscreen.

I will keep mine till it dies.

As for the white spots, mine had one since the beginning and got another when someone poked the screen really hard. :s

yes problem with backlight that made the LCD show white "spots" on the screen. Both mine did have this issue :-(

My N900 is a backup phone, I carried it with me all the time while I used the N9 as the main phone. I am keeping my N900 till it stops working. BTW, is there anyway I can land a N950 or a white N9 now?
