QNeptunea - Best Twitter Client for N9/N950 - HowTo Create Themes

For those not aware of this great app, you can download from Store or from here.
Even though it is still under development, it is already very good and feature rich.
And its getting better and better. The developer (@task_jp) releases new versions frequently!

One of the many nice features of QNeptunea is, that it supports themes.
Here is a short tutorial how to create your own theme:

1) See this zip-file for sample images and sample .qml-file

2) Edit the image files in .zip-file:

- 'splash-portrait.png' (854 x 480 px)
(note: its portrait format rotated 90°counter-clockwise)
- 'splash-landscape.png'(854 x 480 px)

- 'background-portrait.png' (480 x 818 px)
- 'background-landscape.png' (854 x 480 px)

- 'logo-portrait.png' (70 x 70 px)
- 'logo-landscape.png' (40 x 40 px)

- 'default.png' (480 x480 px)
(will be theme preview in theme selector)

3) Edit .qml-file in .zip-file.

4) For testing your theme, copy the files you created/edited to

on your N9

5) Restart app and select / apply your theme (should appear with "tbd" as preview)


If you are happy with your newly created theme you might want to share it:

6) Put all the files you created (except default.png) in a folder.

7) Zip this folder and upload zip-file to e.g. dropbox or any other online storage

8) Post a tweet like this:

<ThemeName> *press enter*
<ThemeDescription> *press enter*
<zip-file download-link> *press enter*

with 'default.png' attached (will be theme preview in theme selection view)

9) Retweet your tweet @task_jp to let him know of your theme.
As soon as he retweeted your tweet from @qneptuneatheme it will magically appear in theme selection within app ;-)

Done!

Someone suggested to create "One for each color variant".
I skipped this so far as I was unsure about what color codes to use for magenta and cyan variant to match.
Besides that it should be pretty straightforward to do and wouldn't need anything too fancy/complex I guess.

Thanks to the help/instructions of Reflektorfalke, I created my first theme for qNeptunea. "blueNeptunea" brings some blue to the application with an own start-up screen and a soft-linen, black background. With white,blue&magenta text, typical N9 colors are present. Please try it out (or one of all the other great themes) and retweet if you like the theme :)

It's really simple to create an own theme for qNeptunea. The application even has an inbuilt preview option for themes under work. So don't hesitate and please let us see your own creations :cool:

And another one: "webTwitter". It's a qNeptunea theme in the style/copy of the original Twitter website. No copied-graphics though, all made from scratch ;) Enjoy!

News of the day: QNeptunea made it to Nokia Store - go get it if you donīt have it already!

Besides that I created another theme, "Angel Eyes" - see attached images.
This time I used a little trick.
The lights on the top bar are "off" when no connection is established and "turn on" when connected ;-)

By now there are 20+ themes available for QNeptunea.
I think it is already a very nice collection, that should include something for anyone's liking.
There are simple and elegant ones as well as fancy ones, light ones, dark ones, colorful and less colorful ones.
Some themes are just plain, others have a texture or follow a certain topic.

What do you think?
Is it enough or do you want more themes?
What are your favorites? You prefer plain or fancy, light or dark?
Do you miss or wish to have a specific theme?

Why donīt you create your own theme?
Its easy - give it a shot!

Btw, the app also features a voting system for themes.
Simply RT the publishing tweet of the theme you like.
(You get to the tweet by tapping the theme title in theme detail view or simply use the RT-Button also in detail view)

These are great! I loved almamo's blueNeptunea theme the best! I'm wondering if we can take that icon from the splash page in that theme and replace the default app icon? Green really isn't a "Twitter" color.. it's blue.

Unfortunately the theme API has no option to change app icon. But you can replace the icon manually. I think it was discussed multiple times already how to do that and where the icons are located, just search the forum...

What do you mean by simpler?
I think it is already quite simple, no coding, no compiling...
Simply create / edit image files and a .qml text file, copy them to your phone and tweet link to your files for publishing - how can it be easier?
Which is the hard part from your point of view?

EDIT: You mean creating or changing theme???
Changing can be done very easy from within app:
Go to settings, tap heart symbol to see selection of all available themes, tap the theme you want to try and hit "Apply"-Button...

it took me 4 years to discover qneptunea as my rocket client stopped authorizing ;)

Qneptunea won't work for me. I did start>pin>authenticate then it takes me to the main screen and won't actually sync. Any ideas as to why?

My thoughts are it that has something to do with my default browser being set to firefox?? Or it could be that the n9 is just a **** in that it also won't retrieve nokia map data, overwrite .conf files in nano, and won't update with apt-get update, for example . . .

Just out of curiosity. Today i tried to install, authorize and use QNeptunea for the first time ever, ver. 0.4.1 (using Tweetian instead). And it still works! Only little workaround is needed: authorizing URL opened by QNeptunea in the N9 browser needs to be copied/rewritten to modern PC browser (e.g. Firefox 58 on Win7) and the auhorization completely done here. After getting authorization PIN it needs to be rewritten to QNeptunea authorization dialogue.

Is there a way to increase the update feed timer? Im tryna save battery so 10 minute update time (max in app) seems too short. Can it be changed to a half hour or even an hour? Even better, can it be customized peak times and non-peak times like our email accounts?
