Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
Soooo... So far one of the features they're most pleased about it mimicking one of the most pointless features on the iPhone...

Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
No matter how powerful it is, IMHO Android will spoil it.
Clumsy UI, no multitasking, advertisements traps for your fingers everywhere... |
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
Ok, wireless charging, the first feature that actually impressed me. (I know it has been coming for a while)
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
it depends. How is the range . I excpect very very short range.

Sure to be a hit.

Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
i like Square design not Oval :(
i hope Note-2 remains Square |
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
Wireless charging is the bees knees! I don't care who uses it or on what device, EVERYTHING should have it!
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
Napoleon Dynamite currently narrating...
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
appart from the mega super quad core i don't see anything outstanding nothing 2011 devices already not have.
I hope Note2 suprise me more than this. |
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
I hope Sammy is prepared to get sued by Nokia. The design is a C7/701 clone. I guess they can't innovate.
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
still multi tasking is a question? N900 & N9 rocks!
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
That video has 15minutes of intro to it. I was ready to turn it off until I saw Suzi Perry come on stage
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
It's not cutting edge design but it's pleasant on the eye and no doubt a beast under the hood. Be interesting to see if claims about power consumption are true.
Overall i'm becoming more and more impressed with Samsung, they don't sit back and dwell too long on any device. 1-2 years and a clear successor is launched. The way it should be as they have a few different areas covered with the Note etc.. I will never buy a Windows Phone but i am a sucker for punishment and will most likely buy another Nokia device at some point.. what's wrong with me? |

May be it's not the best place to ask it, but can you disable the low mem app killing and have a desktop/maemo way to visualise running tasks on android ? And can you run a X server that run natively on android (like Xephyr on linux, cygwin/X on windows) ? |
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
not impressed, give maemo lates SoC and booooom, byebye android, honestly nokia is blind, lol
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
That is some pretty badass hardwar...oh wait...android.
It is like they took the steering wheel of a spaceship and replaced it with a lard dido. Fuc* this useless android crap crippling all this sweet boner making hardware. |
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
Sure my N900 has "real" multitasking, but it always starts to swap if the device has been up for over a day and I try to use for example net-radio or fm-radio and surf on the web at the same time.
Even when I know Android does not have a "real" multitasking, I can do the same mentioned two tasks and even some more without a glitch with my friend's Samsung Galaxy S2. I've turned to like more and more Android and care less and less about it not being a "real" OS, when I know it is the best one can get; there will never be another Maemo nor Meego-device. I think my next device will be that SGS3. Impressive hardware and not too small battery, which will help. If some people are still working in Meego platform, why not try to port Meego to SGS2 and SGS3? Why settle for less? |
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
afaik porting meego to another device is impossible, nokia never give us full source of it, cmiiw
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
Interesting news coming from outgoing Chairman
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-0...-hybrids-.html Could Maemo be resurrected for one last stand? :) |
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
I don't know why they are still using same super amold display and same 8MP camera with some enhancements ( supposed to be better if 12MP).
Bechmark tests shows the CPU of SGS3 overtakes HTC one X but I am still confused which is better espacially that I'm a gamer, Tigra 3 supports gaming more and shows more details and effects in some games. |
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
buy ps3, or nintendo wii, thats real gamer
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
we have 2 ps3's in home :)
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012

|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
The design sucks big time.:D
|

Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
the only thing i like is the exynos processor. generic samsung design (nokia, htc and even sony are sexy, classy, and hip), samoled (screen burn-in), and android. i have an android device and the os really feels clunky and a mess compared to the other os of my devices...
|
Re: The Next Galaxy Unpacked 2012
Galaxy S3 has an amoled pentile display. On the N9's pentile display some eagle-eyed users were complaining how coarse it was although I can't for the life of me see what they were complaining about.

The One X's Tegra 3 is 40nm and the SIII's Exynos 4 is 32nm, so it should be more energy efficient. Adding more intrigue to the efficiency question is the Tegra 3's extra low-power core which if utilised properly by the OS could save even more power. As for graphics, it looks like the Exynos 4 quad-core Mali 400/MP4 GPU is definitely faster and more powerful than the Tegra 3 GPU. It even narrowly beats the iPhone 4S' SGX543MP2 (dual-core) GPU - the previous smartphone graphics benchmark. But, if you want mobile gaming, I would definitely get a PS Vita... The hardware in that, a quad-core A9 CPU and quad-core SGX543MP4 GPU, blows everything else away right now. The only mobile device with similar graphics horsepower is the new iPad (3) which has a very similar GPU, but has to drive a much higher res screen reducing available resources for effects. The fact the Vita doesn't have to bother running a resource intensive OS, providing most of the available power just for games, and allows developers to code directly to the hardware also gives it an edge in efficiency. Plus, being a gamer myself, I have to add that you just can't beat a good pair of analogue sticks and old-fashioned buttons! |
