Should I buy the Nokia N9?
 

I love my Nokia n900 but as the hardware is a bit temperamental (USB falling out etc)
I feel like buying a Nokia n9, should I?

I got myself cyan N9 16gb for 300€ about month ago and I so love this. So without futher babbling, I'd recommend getting one :)

Edit: of course if you need keyboard, other hacky-hacky features then I dunno

It's sexy as Hell (the N9) and has a fantastic Operating System plus plenty of ram.

But I would keep an eye open for the upcoming Pureview 808 as well.

It has EVERYTHING in terms of connectivity plus it has a very very powerful GPU.

Yes, because you can get them extremely cheap now. They are great value for money, well maybe not great but worth the price.

No, because you will get much more value for your money by getting a Galaxy Nexus, they are almost as cheap as the N9 now. That may not even be an option for you, but it should IMO.

The N9 is also officially discontinued in most markets they were sold in, so you have to decide fast, they will soon disappear. It's like Nokia cant wait to remove every trace of the Maemo/MeeGo adventure.

Yes, you should get the N9 as it is the closest experience you'll ever get to your N900. Forget about closed os like ios and WP7.5, you will run screaming back to your N900. As for Android you will not be happy with no terminal mode, no positive way to close an app and flaky multitasking. So get an N9 because it's the only chance you have to continue your N900 experience or most of it.

You could always "rent" one... buy it new from Amazon or off ebay, try it for a few months and if you really don't like it, switch to something else (i.e. [re]sell it). There'll be some demand for these handsets at least for a few more months. I am not running back to iOS, Win 7.5 or Android. MeeGo fits me, YMMV. Good luck.

I had one, my wife test it, she is not phone lover
but she is in love with and when she try another phone
she get upset and ask me; why other phone don't have the double tap and swipe gestures? answer: this is a unique phone.

please do so... buy it. i have one...it's the last meego device. collector item. developer love it, so it'll alive even without nokia supports.. like n900.... thanks to all maemo/meego developer!

While the N900 was a mobile computer, the N9 is a smartphone.
One of those rare devices nowadays that you can really call a smartphone.

I bought one... It is currently sitting in my Postal sorting office at the moment waiting for me to pick up which I can't do for another 48hrs yet :(

Do anyone of guys that have the N9 notice the pentile screen? I never liked pentile as I'm pretty sensitive to it. I had the galaxy nexus and it was terrible when reading text (could also be the banding issue).

I use n9 as a dumb phone and iPhone as my smart phone

Pentile can look coarse with low resolution screens but with high resolution like the N9 you won't notice it unless you have microscopic eyes.

Your problem with Galaxy Nexus may not be due to pentile but other issues. It's worth comparing with another Nexus to check.

Thanks.. I have used a motorola atrix but that wasn't using a standard pentile screen. It was the pentile that adds an extra white pixel for better backlight and that was very distracting. I also haven't read any reviews or feedback from users mentioning pentile so it probably won't be an issue (I hope).

Do they pay you?

On N9. The UI is great and software vice has everything I want.. No problems. This is still an awesome phone after Mmonths of using it... Very Very Good.

Brand new N9 64Gb Black in my pocket, well she's been there about a week now but still. I can't understand how fluent the UI and user experience is compared to my old android, Desire Z. It nearly kicks N900's butt! That's my most trusted backup.
