buying another phone. suggestion please !!!
 

i have been using my N900 for almost 2 yrs now. it served me quite well. never loved a phone this much as much i love my N900. surprisingly it still in brand new condition. no scratches, nothing. i treated it like my own baby. even the box is still there with the manual and the ear plugs. i am planning to keep my N900 as it served me very well and its a great phone which could do anything.

after two years i planned to buy another phone. i want apps, games, camera and speed. without all these feature i lived 2 yrs but its high time i should buy smthng else. there is no phone which can replace my N900 so i want one which can complements my N900. my basic requirements are:

speed
android(obviously)
camera.
good battery life.one day is good enough (like N900 after purchasing the scud :D)
after i bought N900 i havent been looking on other phones so i hav no idea.

plzz suggest me which phone to buy. u guys know better. plzz help me to choose.

Galaxy note is the way for real techie. HOX, SGS3 or sony are for kids. ;)

32GB is a lot. in N900 i hav got 12GB free. i cant fill them up. i would hav bought S3 but its too big. note is also too big. wont fit in my pocket. so either xperia s or one x? anything else?

IMO regarding Android, it has to be the Galaxy Nexus. A "clean" android is the best, and the phone itself is excellent, but maybe a bit big.

The next in the line is the Xperia P, Sony (Ericsson) got the best custom-Android.

i did. all i got was one x, one s, xperia s. some motorola milestone. (droid and droid razrs) and some optimus with cdma. but i need gsm.

in this forum i saw somewhere that s2 is better than nexus. plzz guys recommend me smthng. 4.7 inch is also too bug but i guess i can handle it. give me few options. the best one. i will choose from them. look s2 is awsome but nexus is nt that awsum. i read the reviews. so its not that the latest phones should be better than previous ones in all aspect. some may have poor battery life. since by using N900 i am fond of tweaking the device. i would love to put custom roms. test them etc etc. so thats not really shown in the specification or in the PHONE FINDER option in www.gsmarena.com

From this page, there is the LG LS860 "Cayenne". Its not released yet, but looks as though it will have the innards of the SGS3, comes with ICS and has a 5row sliding keyboard :)

Might be worth holding out for a little while?

You are asking a question that has only one real answer. That answer is Galaxy S3. All other phones are less, regardless of brand or OS or manufacturer.

If you for some particular reason don't find the S3 attractive, then why are you going for something that is as close to the S3 you can find (the S2 for instance) ?

The Galaxy Nexus is a Google branded phone. Pure ICS is a masterpiece IMO, almost on the same level as Swipe. And this brings me to my main point. If the S3 is not good enough, then no other Androids will be either. Hence you should get the N9.

If you mind resigning from Android, you can try some WebOS phone. It's multitasking is much better for me than android's

i seriously dont hav any problem with note or s3. its just too big for me. wont fit in my pocket. i travel by bus. have to run sometime. live a very tiring live. i need something which is mobile. fit in my pocket when m wearing jeans. u kno like easily carriable. note is definitely not. i will always be worried if i break the display because it will be tight fit in my pocket.
My conditions are: 1) minimum 1.2 ghz (doesnt matter dual or single)
2) 1gb RAM
3) 8mp camera.

what about these phones. is anything wrong wid him. i did advance search in www.gsmarena.com with the above specification.

How about the Droid4?

You will have to be careful though, this one does not have gsm so you might be out of luck if they don't make a regional variant if matters?

This. There's a Galaxy Note 2 on the horizon and the Huawei Ascend D quad XL which looks to be quite the beast.

If I had to buy today it would bet the Note or the S3 since I actually use a lot of storage for music and movies and the oneX has max 32 GB on the import and max 16GB on the at&t LTE flavore. The Nexus is also a great phone, but I've got smaller screens covered with my existing collection of phones - really looking forward to the Note 2.

I would go definitely for the S2 in your list, second comes the htc. Hundreds of custom rome etc for the S2. But if you don't care about dual core and since you loved the N900 go with the N9 and o/c it @1.2
You'll definitely feel at home.

I'd do One X over S2. Faster and nicer packaging. Go play with both and I think you'll fine the oneX quite nifty.

whats the point of this thread? Its terrible people keep asking which should i buy or they buy, we have different purpose and need, just buy what you think good for you, do some research, because everyone has their own opinion, you'll get confuse and more confuse if you keep asking, lol

I think you get nice food for thought by asking. I had created such a thread last year and I ended up buying the thing that had the fewest votes, but the things I learned were valuable.

IMO LG and Sony are behind the competition, and they lack AMOLED screens which is my personal preference.

Because it is available, and has been so for a couple of months. The sgs3 is just around the corner though, but not yet available. The One X is also better looking, better materials (polycarbonate, same as the N9), the SGS3 is (cheap) plastic fantastic.

Since you loved your N900, I really think you should strongly consider the N9. It isn't the same, but itis an excellent match. I have had one for a few weeks now to go with my two N900s, and I find it to be a great followup.

I had to replace my n900 about 6 months ago when my charging port started getting flaky. I ended up getting the HTC Amaze. Dual-core, 1 G ram, 16 G storage. I've got a 32Gb microSD card in my Amaze, bringing storage up to 48Gb. Small enough to put in your pocket. Just got the ICS update in the last week. The HTC one series is slightly better in some ways, but no removable battery or microSD slot. I get around a day of battery life. Android's multi-tasking isn't anything compared to maemo. I haven't tried any real multi-tasking since the ICS update, which is supposed to use the dual-core much better. Just my 2 cents worth.

what are the disadvantages of one x apart from the non removable battery and no slot for micro sd card? iphone also has non removable battery and no micro slot. 32gb is more than enough

anything android that have physical keyboard, maybe.
use opera's keyboard and n9's keyboard is hard for my big thumb when that word is not included in dictionary.

n9 and n950 lacks in speeds and apps. m just tired of tweaking just to make the device responsive. so many hard work to achive simple things.

ok, this part is just pure b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t, can be true only if the n900 wasnt properly used and is insulting for any maemo fanboy(me)
especially part about applications because saying 1000000 applications is better than 500 is just stupid, quality over quantity here, especially since android cant run gnu applications of which every is worth 10000 java ones that android runs :P
there arent that many games here, but 3ds is 150$(so much cheaper than a new phone) and beats anything that fits into a pocket in that segment anyways
for camera you need to buy 808 or at least n8, no android has significantly better camera than n900
and n900 is slow sometimes in the PERCEIVED speed, so the ui part mostly, but the fact is that it does most jobs faster than any android

if you want android beacause it a better toy than our workhorse than go for it, but dont you come here talking like this about my baby!

I don't see him saying 1000000 apps is better than 500. I hear him say that the apps he's after is not to find on the MeeGo platform and hence he's looking for a devuce that'll give him that.

I agree if you want the most out of N900/N9 you have to do alot of modding/xterming to get there, even some basic things and if your getting tired of that you seek elsewhere to cut that part out.

There's a good amount of quality apps on both android and ios especially if you're into gaming.

To the OP I can only say read some reviews and try them out in a store. Find out what you're exactly looking for in the device as in the apps and it'll be clear wich to choose.

Bought a Galaxy Nexus Prime for the girlfriend to replace her aging n900. It's a lot cheaper than the One X, while being almost the same (a bit weaker on the CPU/GPU side).

Needless to say she's blown away by it and didn't really touch the n900 ever since.

This thread is funny. Funny in that so many people turn phones into religion. I prefer the purely gadgeteer approach of seeing each as a toy to be dorked with, and this dorking, hacking, etc. far more fun than any apps :). I even still toss my SIM into my old E72 as that's a great keyboard. Even fired up the E75 last night but man was that slow by today's standards.

Personally, I'm hoping to get my first non-tablet Android toy in the next month or two and leaning toward the S3 even though I know I'll still use the N9 for highbrow outings and the Pre3 with its Mugen 2800 mAh battery for overseas trips when having 2-3 solid days of power on a single charge can come in handy.

(side note: I didn't realize the One X didn't have a removable battery - that sucks)
