n9 theme Maker
Is there any theme maker tool for harmattan?
Is it possible to adapt Maemo Theme Maker for n9/950? Maybe just skip the graphic UI and keep only the packager to compile the theme in a deb file and then change it with theme changer The Maemo Theme Maker looks pretty good and i think that there wouldn't be many differences between meego and maemo http://thememaker.garage.maemo.org/T...ourceImage.png |
Re: n9 theme Maker?
as of now there isn't a theme maker. you may wish to adapt such an app as i'm sure more designers will then get involved.
however, if you currently wish to make a theme, have a look at ceroberts' themes (black75, cyan75) and F2thak's F.D.B. Themes. |
Re: n9 theme Maker?
Mariano, hru bro? looking forward for themes for me :D :)
nice to see you here :D anyhow, i may try to write this app for win (assembled with masm32, or, python2.6) so, who want to participate...and/or have infos.... regards :D |
Re: n9 theme Maker?
wook! my friend, it seems that the ex-symbians we are regrouping here :D.
I can't help you coding, but count on me with anything else: graphics, testing, etc. the only thing i know is where is theme folder  (like this tutorial says). |

ok, so far, heres plan: i'll take few themes and see what files are there and where do they belong in ui... .if ASM: i hope i will not have to use Cairo library (svg library) but only png/jpg/bmp....if so, i will need someone to "help" me up with cairo to build header and library files....(tried before...didn't worked well) :D it will be built only for windows since i am not power user of linux and don't know much about coding on it .elseif python: i will need help from linux users, because i would love to make it compatible with both win and nux, so i will need to know what's best choice of UI library to use (gtk/tkinter....) .endif i can design it like resource editor or like carbide.ui (so you have preview of how it will look on device...) yes, source will be public but not till it's really ready for theme cooking :D another thing...i am finally happy that i have some project for MeeGo :D |

By the way.. i was thinking the other day that the n9 use only bitmap icons. I will test what happens if i replace it with an SVG one |

I've been testing the icons with differents formats, canvas size, file size and the phone behave pretty friendly with them (in the picture the icons looks smaller because the canvas background is bigger). Just to standarize the svg icons should be 80x80 without canvas space in the borders. What about the base elements? work only in developer mode? I used fileboxroot to have root access with GUI to copy the theme folder and is pretty fast and handfull to avoid the terminal typing. |
Re: n9 theme Maker
looking very nice, try using WinSCP, it's very cool and handy ;) :D
also, you can use it to configure additional commands... |

Re: n9 theme Maker
finally get it to work allowing ssh with n9tweak app.
And i find a way to apply theme without restarting phone: just refresh the GUI with the n9tweak app button (n9 qrefresh) |
Re: n9 theme Maker
aaaaah, blocked port 22 :S
i don't use tweak app, i use homescreen settings ;) it's incompatible with each other (reboot loop :S) i fixed my e7's sidekick mechanism and my back hurts now :D it's almost 3am :D so, icons...tomorrow :D :) btw, i need to cook belle :S nfe works with it's core? right? is there any boot loader tweaks? did Marco played with it? |
Re: n9 theme Maker

who is marco? |
Re: n9 theme Maker

Re: n9 theme Maker
off topic: i didn't knew anything about the symbian3 source code leak. it is strange that nobody build some overclocker app or any kind of os port
|
Re: n9 theme Maker

i wish it was over s-f...that thing would still be in wildness :D unless it already is...:D time to sleep...long ago see ya bro (i'll try to get u icons tomorrow ;)) |
Re: n9 theme Maker
Ah! Found the themers thread! I wanted to theme the MeeGo interface, can anyone help me out with some basic stuff I need? :-)
Things I'd like to change: - Icons - Buttons (rush as the Refresh button or the Snooze/Cancel buttons on an alarm) - Keyboard |
Re: n9 theme Maker
couldn't figured out yet how to modify third party icons.
The hard part is to identify wich graphic is placed and where? thats why a GUI should solve the big problem |
Re: n9 theme Maker
akaik all 3rd party icons are located at /usr/share/icons/hicolor/80x80/apps which can be replaced with the exact same names.
sry if it doesn't help...just thought to share what i remember... |
Re: n9 theme Maker
also i remember at the launch of the n9, a dev from nokia had mentioned that changing the theme was relatively easier to do than changing the icons as in Symbian as there is only one file name for the icons and while coding for the apps, the dev would point the launcher for the app's icon to this folder.
icons for 3rd party apps could be created and changed as per a user's requirement but the theme could be changed by all. just my 2 pence... |
Re: n9 theme Maker
I recentry look the 80x80 folder and yes... they are all in there but if i modifiy one of them, the icon will change not for this theme only, and i will loose the original.
Im trying with the opera icon now (operamobile-labs.png) in the theme folder with operamobile-labs.png and icon-l-operamobile-labs.png but no luck! even i tried in the folder /usr/share/icons/mytheme/ |

extracted mif...it's nvgs not svgs/svgbs :( damn i'll put silver theme into new fw :D |
Re: n9 theme Maker
ohh.. true, the original is with nvgs
The 3rd party icons are important. I can say you that because as theme developer the main user complaint is the lack of these and is the most laborious :( |
Re: n9 theme Maker
perhaps you all might be interested in this thread:
http://www.tinhte.vn/threads/1321113/ They managed to add background to the statusbar and this is the thread about how to change icons: http://www.tinhte.vn/threads/1316268/ /usr/share/themes/blanco/meegotouch/icons/ seems to be the location for blanco |
Re: n9 theme Maker
idk..maybe we can design additional app to support this? what do u think?
|
Re: n9 theme Maker
If you ask me.. i would say yes :D but i'm really an ignnorant in programming, so i couldn't help you there :(
I agree that TPIs are not a priority right now But if you ask me what i want.. (lets dream early ;) ) - The theme packaged in a deb installable file that could be uninstalled - The theme should appears in desktop with an icon like any other app. (making the theme independent of theme changer app) |
Re: n9 theme Maker
uhh, all that under windows?
well...i think it can be done :P :D but, i really dislike this appearing in desktop thingy...you know why? :P |
Re: n9 theme Maker
i said desktop to make it more harmattan standard... desktop icon wouldnt be my choice neither
For ex: i don't like browser bookmark as icon but is the standard  Like symbian in setup menu/themes would be better  |
Re: n9 theme Maker
well...like symbian = like harmattan more or less (without .deb + with must to = install theme changer...:D)
i started .deb packager while ago, never finished it... |
