Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
Shopper is a QML based eBay app for Symbian and MeeGo devices. Supports browsing and searching products, view categories, item details, user detail, addition and removal in watch list. It is aimed to be a fully feature eBay client for Symbian and MeeGo platform.
Shopper is still in initial stage and has some bugs that might lead to a crash. We are working on it and hope to release it soon on Nokia Store. Some features: # Homescreen showing currently popular items, top selling products and most watched items arranged in tab layout. # Category list showing a list of primary category for user selected site(India, US, UK, etc.) which can be clicked to show items of that particular category. # Search - User can search items with a particular set of keywords. # User account - Shopper need a user account setup to access all its features. It enables user to add and remove item from user watchlist, see user details and see user's buying summary. Shopper is built with a mixture of eBay's Shopping, trading, finding & merchandising APIs with custom Qt/C++ wrapper written to access all API methods. Due to this reason, a vast number of features can be added in it in future. http://arushisingh.files.wordpress.c...4_13-35-06.png http://arushisingh.files.wordpress.c...4_13-35-16.png For more info and package download: Google code Please try Shopper and provide your feedbacks, crticism and suggestions here. |

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
After a quick test:
-Top selling items don't open -Auto Accessories & Parts gives Invalid category ID -Search doesn't start searching with the VKB enter-button edit: -The yellow condition font is a poor choice on grey background -Where can I change the currency? The UI is very fast and responsive. Looks OK, too. |
Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
Maemo5 is forgotten... :/

Are other categories apart from Auto Accessories & Parts showing? May I know which eBay country/site you are logged in to? I'll try to make required changes regarding font and search with enter button! |

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
Thanks for a responsive app with friendly UI. Some glitches:
Invalid category ID for: Auto Accessories.... Charity Fitness & Sports Fun Stuff Kitchen & Home... Memory cards.... Mobile Accessories Mobile Phones Services and Real Estate Shoes and other Footwear Stamps ==================== Yes, the yellow font is hard to read - make is RED instead ? Top selling not opening items I am searching via Australian site ? Looks like a promising app, otherwise. Thank you! |
Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
Is it possible to incorporate the persons purchase list , as well as a messages , so I can track my package/view my current purchases and respond to messages.
Aside from that that app is very smooth, love the ui except on the product list some text is in yellow and Its hard to read. When i access the app without network it asks me to connect to network but behind the app in other words I can't connect to wifi when I'm in the app I have to exit it and connect before i launch the app (hope I'm making sense) Also when i search for some products I get 0 results - example I tried searching "Gerber Vise" but got nothing. On PC i get numerous results. Will continue to use and report any bugs or problems, and I am looking forward to the finished product. |
Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
thank you everyone who provided useful feedback, i've fixed some of the issues and new installer can be found here
The problem with opening "Top selling products" is that they are products and not items. We have not yet added that fuctionality to show individual products as we are little confused b/w ebay items and products Regarding showing recent purchases and messages, etc., it is possible to show them as eBay provides a huge number of APIs. We will try to add them soon but at the moment we are facing some problems with parsing data from eBay API response which ShwStppr has mentioned here Due to this problem sometimes app shows wrong thumb for wrong item and sometimes it may crash (primary reason for not publishing the as yet). Although, he has promised me to rewrite the XML parser with Qt DOM classes which might solve the problem. "Invalid category" problem is now being solved as earlier because of a bug application was showing categories for India site irrespective of user's site which led to the error. I've also done font color changes. There are some other elements aslo that needs some minor changes for better readability. Be assured they will be modified accordingly! Please continue providing your feedbacks and suggestion :) |
Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
A little bug is fixed related to popular items listing (when user site changed, it was showing older items in the list as well). New installer is here

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
i am having several issues that i haven't seen posted yet.
-when i do a search i either get very limited results or no results at all. when i bring up the mobile site i get pages and pages of results (so it's not that i am just searching for unpopular items!). -my accounts brought up the correct ebay site for me (US), however the prices some items are showing up inncorectly. i at first assumed it was a currency issue, but it says USD next to it. unless someone wants to pay $3000 for an N9, or $500 for a power cord, something is not right! (these items were checked with the mobile site and the prices were the far more reasonable correct prices). i hope this stuff can get figured out, because i have long awaited a quality ebay application! |
Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
Is there anyway to clear app's cache, it seems that my ebay user account is not setup correctly and since then app is crashing after it starts.
Thanks |
Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
Thanks for pointing out the issues. There is problem with parsing xml response from Ebay API due to which there is mismatch in values/thumbnails shown against items and sometimes it leads to crash. I've figured out tyre solution and will be fixing that once my broadband is fixed.
Regarding lesser number of search results, I'm not pretty sure yet why it its happening but we will try to fix that soon, maybe we ate using wrong Ebay method... |

Else some new issue :( |
Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
Yes it worked once, I think you are right, it must be something related to that parsing xml problem you said, I just got confused as this happened while I was trying to setup an account.

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
We've tried to fix parsing module and now parsing responses through DOM, hopefully it will fix some of the issues.
Regarding searching isssues, we've tried to modify some code and it might help. If someone still having some problem with search, please consider posting the link of search reults you've got on mobile or desktop site. New installer can here Working on refining results modeule and showing user's bid list, purchase list, etc. Hope to update soon! |

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
New version is working well!
The search problems I had are no longer present. I seem to be getting the corrct number of results with the proper prices! Several issues though: -When looking at an item, if I click on the "Detailed description" tab, many times it is blank. Is this an error, or something in the way the item is listed by the seller? -When looking at search results, there is no indicator of how many results were found. No number of items, pages of items, or even a scroll bar to see how long the list is. Is there any way to add this? -Lastly, when will purchasing be able to be done? I don't see any options for bidding. Thanks again! |

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
The app is shaping up quite nice, I can't wait for the final product.
I was wondering if you might be able to make an app similar to eBay's "RedLaser Barcode Scanner" That would make a great compliment to your eBay app, or maybe you could even add it in to the current app. Not really expecting you to do this, just a thought :) Keep up the good work! |

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
Can anyone confirm the working of those selling lists(Sold, unsold, etc) because me & Trinity are using eBay only as buyer and wasn't able to test those features

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
Great, was looking for such an app.
Works great so far. Would like to suggest two things for future updates: - I can choose Netherlands as country, but the list isn't updated with Dutch auctions, only US. - Would like to see if I can chose between National, European or World wide auctions just as the website version. |

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
There needs to be a way to sort and filter search results by all the options that ebay provides otherwise it becomes frustrating and I will just uninstall and use firefox. There are many things you can search that will pull up 10000 results that you do not want to sort through.
For some reason my phone stopped responding to swipe when I installed this while charging so i had to turn it off and on. This normally happens if I plug in an external speaker (the x-minimax2) that is charging but for some reason it happened here after installing this app. Maybe it is just a one time occurrence but normally when it happens with an external charging speaker I can just unplug everything and turn on and off the lockscreen twice and the swipe starts responding again but here it did not and it was pretty scary trying to get the phone to reboot but I finally did. |

Great work! Every update is an improvement. Is there any way to search within a category?

Re: Shopper - eBay App for Meego and Symbian devices
I forgot to say thanks for your work so far. I'll donate $5 like I did for quick tweak or buy it from store if you can make it filter and sort results like I need. I like the look of it and everything, I just need the filtering and sorting to be there.
Maybe my swipe not responding was a one time thing or it could have been from me plugging in the X-minmax2 speaker while it was charging earlier and I just do not remember it. I really do appreciate each new app that really has a good use for us on this OS. |
