Gtalk issues on Nokia N9 - Cannot make outgoing video call
 

Hello,
First post on this board. I searched and searched the web for this issue, but did not find anything. Please point me in the right direction if I have missed the answer to my problem.
Basically, my N9 cannot make an outgoing Gtalk video call. I can get incoming calls from my computer (mac or PC) and the video works ok (very choppy, but it works). From the ipad Vtok app, I can see the ipad video, but the N9 video does not show on the ipad.
Now, if I try to start a video call from the N9, the computer/ipad (any device really) immediately disconnects the call and claims there was an error with the google server.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Is it just me? Any fixes? I tried reflashing the phone, installing only Gtalk. It did not work...

I cannot make video calls either, but my contact can video call me and no problem, so incomming calls working fine, outgoing calls imposible no video call option enabled

Has any one been able to make a successfull video call?

Calling my PC from my N9 results in the same error as the OP: claiming there was an error with Google's servers.

Calling from my PC to the N9 works, but I get no audio or video.

I tried calling from my N9 to Windows 7 and worked OK. Video and audio.

used to work on PR 1.2. Some people reported it works on 1.3 after a clean flash of the device , so maybe try that.

videocall fails on my ssu updated PR1.3 device... haven't tested on clean flash of device yet.

My ota update works perfectly , :/
only cutetube and quickvoice input thats wont work again, missing dependencies libmeegoimquick0 , but i cant install it from nokia repo, :|

Why does it seem to work on some devices and not others? It never worked on my PR 1.2 device (clean flash or not, no other apps installed), either on windows 7, windows XP (yes, I still have a VM running XP) or mac OS X Lion...

Yet on youtube I saw a video of someone who was able to make it work while initiating the call from the N9... It makes no sense...

i have issues with it too

it began since pr1.2 recently. i cant make or receive video or voice calls, i get disconnected right as the connection is made

i also flashed pr1.3 so no use reinstalling, but haven't tried to reset the device completely, it's too much to sacrifice for this

With pr 1.2 gtalk videocalling worked flawless for me.
Since pr 1.3 the button won't show up in contact cards. Also after re-install. Did not tried a flash yet.

Still no love on a wiped/reflashed PR1.3 device. Incoming works, outgoing gets error message from Gtalk. That said Gtalk is apparently down today. Maybe they will fix this issue (if it is indeed an issue with Google's servers as the error states)?

Hi all,
I have similar issue with my N9. When I call or get called from a PC to a phone over Gtalk, everything is OK, but talking to someone on another service (ie Fring) which uses Gtalk is not possible. When I call someone on Fring/GTalk, or they call me, only one party hears a call. On N9 I see only "connecting ..." and nothing else happens.

Any idea anyone!?

So.. same thing for me, error when trying to make calls. It worked fine until few weeks ago. Upgrading to PR1.3 or reinstalling GTalk plugin did not help. Fortunately it's possible to be called, but it's still annoying.
Does Google try to sabotage the N9 too? :(

I too am facing the same problem. Even incoming calls are not working fine for me. I'm sure it's not the issue with PR1.3 but the way google has changed it's video calling. Even GMail shows up an altogether new calling UI (video hangouts).

So pretty much the Gtalk Video Call plugin has to be updated in N9 to match the latest Google APIs.

Same problem here. I think youre right Vikas, the new hangout system is the main cause of the issue. This plugin need to be updated !

@ibra could you add details of your gmail account?

Have you done a 100% device-exclusive gmail account, or have you tried it on a computer beforehand?

Nope just regular account, fyi i installing gtalk videocall plugin before updating my fw, maybe thats why, cmiiw

i tested it and it works, but i can't make video call. and i can't even make voice call VTok on iPhone :S that sucks :S

Doesn't work for me here...I'm using iOS grob so I don't know whether that's the cause maybe someone using stock UA can verify too...


If its indeed true one thing we can try is ask Sergey in the N9 MfE thread whether he can make any workaround like he did for hotmail...

OR

Those who haven't done so can leave a 1-star negative review on Store for Gtalk Video Call plugin as well as keep contacting Nokia Support regarding this...Maybe Nokia then make a new plugin? :p

So when somebody uses video call from gmail to call you i.e. hangout, you receive the call? :confused: I only receive an invitation link to the hangout which can't open :o

Hmmm...I just tried making a video call from my n9 to my SGS2 and it works! BUT my video is not transmitted to the S2 just a blank screen is shown on the S2 while on the n9 i can see both mine and the recipent's video...

I'm trying to make videocall from Pc to N9 and viceversa, but nothing works. When calling from PC I only recive on the N9 an invite to the hangout (and it doesn't works). Calling from N9 to the PC sounds only one and than the call broke down

Gtalk working fine here, from pc to phone and from phone to phone with wifi and 3G.

Same here, no video, no voice with gmail
Been like that for a while, i though the problem 4m my device :\

I believe the problem accrue after google implemented their "Hangout" into gmail chat :\
