Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

well as the title says I dropped my N9 In deep sea while filming something... it is impossible to retrieve it.

any way tragedy aside what should I do now? buy another one or just go for a new phone? I am thinking of Galaxy S3,S2 or Galaxy Note as an option how ever Meego is keeping my heart with the N9 ...

give me your honest opinions guys and please leave aside the fanboyism since this is really not what this thread is about

sorry for that, dude.

i can't imagine using another phone at this point. Still the best hardware/software combo right now, at least for me.
after using harmattan, i can't see any os competing with it.
imho.

cheers,

well ya since it seems to be a personal matter i don't see what is the harm in getting an opinion before making a purchase after all this is a forum so people could discuss matters that matter to them ... dude if you can't help by simply giving your opinion (which will be appreciated) please stop wasting your time with such comments...
you know what as soon as I make a purchase I will delete this thread since it annoys you so much!!!

guys I've heard that the Galaxy note is really good any reason in particular? I mean what differentiates it from other androids other than the screen ad pen input?

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

well i don't intend to flame but if you read thro' your past posts you've adviced people to "try to use the search box in the forum this has been discussed quite many times'...how about putting that into practice?

Well, I got one, and I love it because of the S Pen.
Just do know one thing that it's good for people with big hands, who like drawing and stuff.

If you do get one, you have to install Screen Filter (the screen is a pain to look at in the dark and lengthens battery life), disable the vibration (N9's vibration is superior and this feels tinny and slows the response down IMO) and change the Samsung Keyboard with Swiftkey. (It's so freaking slow compared to the N9's)

Hmm, I wonder if you could dive there and try to retrieve it? I've seen Nokia's survive that deep...

I am well aware that this have been discussed before but since it is a personal matter it could differ from one case to another... and as I said I will delete the post after I decide I have sufficient information out of it for me..

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

This is my opinion:
S3 - too big screen and too much power and too small battery for that power.
S2 - cheaper and there is many good ROMS out there, which you can install (MiUi and CyanogenMod example). It's kind of plastic, but good support and lots of apps.
N9 - cheap and very good phone for everyday using. Good camera, very hard shell and screen! Bad support from the nokia, but best from the users (talk.maemo.org)

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

well seems the majority of people think the N9 is the best, which from experience I couldn't agree more.. I am trying to get a white one for around Rm 500 which is around 160 USD or 130 eur wish me luck

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

The Galaxy Nexus is the obvious choice IMO. The only bad point, it's very large.

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

I have an N9, i absolutely love it, but i suggest you try out the others once before you make a choice. I did like how the Nexus felt...

Note is good too but i dont think a phone should be that big:D

Mada22009 2012-07-22 01:48

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

well i don't really mind size, I mean I am even considering the galaxy note. how ever looking at the specs the nexus is getting old, I mean why not buy an s3 since it's all androids? am i missing something?

Best of luck for your deals....But never forget..nothing..i mean nothing can beat the unicorn :)

PS-I think im Biased :p

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

@MeeNu LOL to be truthful in the back of my mind I can't live with out an N9 and I know nothing is currently better, but since I am tooooo biased as well I thought I might try something else that might change my view... reading your opinion that might not really work (I mean since you have the best 2 other devices in the market)

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

If you can't make up your mind on a matter as simple as picking a phone you want, you should just get a 3310, your life will be less complicated that way.

He is asking for opinions, what is wrong what that? Isn't it what this forum is for?

Seems like a lot of grouchy people around. If you can't contribute something useful why not just keep quiet?

SamGan 2012-07-22 02:41

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

Mada22009, I think you've made the right choice to get another N9. The half-baked Android multitasking isn't going to please you. This is the only OS with a real and fully reliable multitasking, not a recently used app list or background apps at the mercy of the OS whether to run or quit.

well the thing is...what's the use of a phone..if u cant go into it..if u cant run it the way u want....
i also love mobiles and all (fascinating little creatures they are) and have been into it for quite a while now...but since that fateful day when Marko introduced N9....i am in L.O.V.E.
Plus this mobile is a developer Heaven..and i mean it...

If you really want to try something else....then i would suggest buying an iPhone is a waste of money..and Lumia is a death TRAP..so be careful....
But yeah samsung is decent with its huge collection of apps....But Bless My Soul...its stilll nothing against N9....

Man the other day..i was sweet talking Dad..to buy me another N9...64 Gb this time :)

And yeah..agreed with @SamGan..N9: Multitask like never before! :p
Plus i always tease my friends with this: Other mobile gets OLDER...N9 Gets BETTER! :) :D

You are definitely missing something. The Nexus is a pure and clean Android running stock OS. S3 is a Samsung running Samsung version of Android (They are both Samsung, but that's beside the point). The Nexus receives the newest Android when it is available from Google. The S3 receives it 6 months later, if ever.

Cyanogenmod offsets things a bit, but Cyanogen - it is a taste that requires some work, chances are you hate the ****, but you may like it.

Can I have the GPS location because I am a metal detectorist.

Just kidding, I don't have the scuba gear and seawater detector. Those kind of detectors are about 2 g's
There are guys with that kind of metal detector that will find it for you here
http://theringfinders.com/

And that goes for anyone else here that loses their N9 just ask me for help, I am part of a large group of metal detectorists online all across the world and we are very helpful to others (but it is good manners for you to give a tip). I can try to locate you a person in your area if that ring finder place does not work out for you.

my friend cracked her white unicorns screen so i am pursuing her to sell it for that price she still didn't reply me tho...

the phone is fully working and it's only the glass that got cracked...

Edit: after checking the prices of the digitizer it doesn't seem such a good idea to make that purchase

Gutting, voted N9 as if it was me I'd still choose another N9 over the other devices in the poll.

Had the 808 been a poll option though I'd have been torn.

waw every single review i read about it said bella barley does what it was suppose to be doing years ago that's kind of the reason i didn't really look at it
is it that good?

Tetlee 2012-07-22 10:57

Re: Dropped my N9 in deep sea water.... what now?

Well I've always been pleased with Nokia Belle on my E7, and feature pack 1 on the 808 has further improvements over that.

There are plenty of reviews around the web so have a read, of course if you don't have interest in an amazing camera then it might not be so worth considering.

The ultimate for me of course would have been the 808 with MeeGo, but rather Symbian than WP7 any day of the week.

To be honest, I saw Galaxy Android at carrier's store, and the MeeGo's interface & multitasking is much better than Android's.
I'd take MeeGo.

WELL AFTER DEEP THINKING I ARRIVED AT A DECISION :D
well I got this great deal on a couple of iphone 4s that i could sell for quite a good profit then i am gonna use this profit and add some on it to purchase....... a white N9+ a white galaxy s3 ....at great prices as well
I've been quite lucky with these deals and all this will barely set me back 400USD :D thanks to the crazy market for Iphones ...tomorrow all the deals will go down and will let you guys know what happens ...
