Or via apt-get package: kernel-power-flasher

Overclock support (optional):
From Hildon Application Manager install package: Linux kernel for power user (settings and overclock)
Or via apt-get package: kernel-power-settings

Multiboot support (optional):
In Hildon Application Manager install packages: Maemo ULTimate BOOTloader and Linux kernel for power user (boot image for multiboot)
Or via apt-get packages: multiboot and kernel-power-bootimg

U-Boot support (optional):
First from U-Boot for Nokia RX-51 with BootMenu thread install needed U-Boot packages. Then in Hildon Application Manager install package Linux kernel for power user (boot image for multiboot)
Or via apt-get package kernel-power-bootimg

Kernel modules are already included and installed in /opt/packet-injection-modules/2.6.28.10-power51/
To load/unload it use shell script: http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~pal...t-injection.sh

This multiboot entry worked properly for me, without that line.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

I upgraded from power50 to power51(r1) using fapman. It removed cleven and the wiki drivers package like sifo says.

So far everything seems to be working properly. Thanks to pali and all contributors for their hard work!

i upgraded and nothing goes wrong for now thank you very much Pali and the whole KP team :)

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

For the record, the wifi injection drivers are now included in kernel-power-modules, so there's no longer a need for the maintainer of Cleven to have their package depend on backport-modules.

They can use the metapackage 'kernel-feature-packet-injection' as the dependency instead.

So cleven was uninstalled itself while KP51 installs, and cleven cannot be installed anymore. How I should do??? I need cleven!! I have experienced packets conflict during cleven installation/ PLEEEZ help

Hi Guys, I need your help because my phone is unbootable after I finished the following steps in X-Terminal:

1, apt-get update.
2, apt-get upgrade.
3, reboot

Anyone knows how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

______________________________________________

How strange it is that my phone can boot now! I have done nothing at all. When I choose the V51 option in multi-boot menu the phone can not boot. When I close keyboard and start the phone it successfully boot into V51. I am curious about the reason.

sifo 2012-07-24 05:08

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

@seawall

you can reflash or restore a backup with backupmenu if you have it.

./sifo

olehman 2012-07-24 05:33

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

For SEAWALL -> flasher-3.5 -f --flash-only=kernel -R -F <firmware-image>

this will load default nokia kernel. All software will be kept

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

Thank you pali the Kernel seems to work well.

But there seems to be a problem with the bleeding-Edge-drivers. If I switch to bleeding-Edge there were no Wlans found at all. And charging-LED also is not blinking when on bleeding-Edge.

" Fix bug in bq2415x_charger driver which cause reboot when driver is unloaded"

Hi, my n900 still crashes when charging overnight and I have to remove the battery. But if I dont Charge the battery doesnt hold long enough with jdownloader running.
Thanks for the Update though.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

@projekt,

Is this using KP51 with the bq2415x_charger module loaded? (and obviously, BME stopped).

I have an N900 where I even uninstalled BME and load bq2415x_charger module automatically during boot. It charges fine. I can unload the module just fine.

Can you confirm that you're charging with bq2415x_charger??

S-3-P-3-H-R I suggest DO NOT upgrade PK-50 to PK-51 it will remove cleven. Cleven-experimental will NOT work as well. We will wait for stable kernel

MT, how are the injection drivers implemented? Are they loaded by default or do we still need to run the load / unload script as per post [1]?

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

Hello,
Thanks for the update,
I have a couple of questions.

- the past few days my phone was turning off(crashing) while left charging (the charger, cable everything is fine and the phone says charging),is this a known issue that is fixed with this update?
@projekt was reporting the same issue
i have just updated to V51 to see what will happen

- how can i confirm that it is charging with bq2415x_charger?

-there is a widget called "Wlan driver Selector Applet" that downloads the bleeding-edge drivers from http://david.gnedt.eu/wl1251/wl1251-...9+pre50.tar.gz and loads them, it was built for V50, it was already installed and there was no conflict while installing Kernel power V51 (the same driver that is a part of the backports that is conflicting with V51), i tested it, and it seems to still work, so i'm asking if is it safe to still use that or better to use the shell script "packet-injection.sh"?

Thanks, no I didnt know bq2415x_charger. I stopped BME now
Is that save?

@ for who want the drivers loaded by the applet with kp51

if you have old drivers in your /MyDocs/

Code:

sudo gainroot
cp /opt/packet-injection-modules/2.6.28.10-power51/* MyDocs/wl1251-maemo/

or copy them to any folder and choose that from the applet :P

./sifo

If I get this right, you have to plug it in and enter ''stop bme'' in root-shell

projekt 2012-07-24 19:55

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

While charging, I wanted to turn on the screen but it doesn't work.
But I can still access the Jdownloader Webinterface on my pc
 Now the webinterface is gone too.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

@pali, thanks for your work, great stuff. Quick question, is it possible to strip the .ko files or will they not work anymore? Stripping results in 25% space saving for the cfg80211.ko file, which seems a worth while excercise.

I think the Wiki needs to be updated. What is described there relates to kernels where the new 2415x_charger module was not included.

With KP51 (I still have the pre-release, I assume KP51R1 will work the same), you just stop bme [NOTE 1] and then just plug the cable. You will see that the LED turns solid yellow.

When you're done, unplug the cable, [NOTE 2] and (if you wish) start bme again.

Add.:
NOTE 1: modprobe bq2415x_charger, obviously
NOTE 2: rmmod bq2415x_charger, obviously

This time I left the screen on while charging. Next morning it was off. At least I didnt have to remove the battery to turn on the phone and there was no unexpected reboot message.

Hi,
It says that conflicts with "linux-backports-modules-power".
What should I do about that?

misiak 2012-07-25 11:42

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v51 in Extras-Devel

I lost some time on checking why I can't load this kernel... it turned out I have 2012.04-1 u-boot, while only 2012.04-2 u-boot is supported (otherwise, one must edit /etc/bootmenu.d/20-Maemo5-kernel-power-2.6.28.10-power51.item and change ITEM_OMAPATAG=1 to ITEM_REUSEATAGS=1) - maybe this information will save someone else's time in the future, as first thing I did was reading this thread and checking if someone else had similar problem and found a solution ;)

Why u don't use the newest u-boot version ?

I didn't need to update, old version works for me and if something works and is stable, why update? ;) I guess you are asking because 2012.04-2 does not work for you, but it's not my case - I just upgraded to check if I have same problem as you, but I don't - it works flawlessly. But it's better to discuss this in u-boot thread instead of here :)
