Nokia n9 camera broken
Hi All,
Whenever i open the camera application i get the following error, "The camera is not responding. Try again or restart the device". I have tried all the mods and also reflashed it many times. i have even tried the gps fix, none of them worked. I mailed Nokia care and they told me to take it to Nokia care. I am from India and N9 is not supported here. What am i supposed to do? Please suggest a feasible solution. I am not sure if its a software issue or a hardware issue. Regards Krishna |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
well you can take it to Nokia Care in India and try your luck...I think they should be able to tell you if its a hardware issue and whether they are ready to repair it at a cost to you...

Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
Hmm wait for somebody's advice here. Mean while try both restore settings and clear device then flash again. Just in case.. you know.. Good luck.

Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
Well he has reflashed it several times...if he has done a reflash of both rootfs+emmc it definitely is a hardware issue...

Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
The camera acts up with gps turned off for me:)

kidding, yes, i agree that it might be hardware fault, but seems like nokia didn't do drivers very well. some n9's/950's had similar problems with headphones (mine does) however service should do the trick (unless he's happy like italian guy who bought n9 in swiss and had tons of problems) |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
i used to get this ALOT in 1.2 but in 1.3 never showed up since

Both RootFS AND eMMC just incase :) Follow the instructions in the link below, they are basically the same for the N9 just a different version of flasher and obviously the image name is different. Flashing the eMMC in the N900 WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA ON THE DEVICE, PLEASE DO A FULL BACKUP OF YOUR FILES BEFORE FLASHING THE eMMC!! |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
GOW why give him the n900 link when you can give him the n9 Comprehensive Flashing Guide: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82693

The only real difference is the image name, if he has flashed already, then he knows how to use NaviFirm.. The wiki is easier and better to see how to, compared to searching through lots of other info on location names and firmware info that he must already know.. |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
Hi all,
I have flashed the fone with rootfs+emmc as well. I still doubt if this is a hardware issue. The camera started behaving wierdly after updating to pr 1.2, sometimes the pic used to be fine, and most of the time i used to get a pic 80% of the pic was covered with yellow lines. I dont remember from when, but one day i started getting this error. i have debranded the phone to PR 1.3, the issue is still the same. I still doubt if its a hardware issue, AFAIK i didnt even drop my phone. took it to nokia care in India, they said they wont repair it, guess i need to request them again. Really frustrating to have such a nice cam but unable to use it since 4 months. :( :( :( Regards Karthik |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
It is definately a hardware issue!

Re: Nokia n9 camera broken

http://www.nokia.com/in-en/care-point-finder/
Device should still have factory warranty, if your local care point don't know how to fix, I bet that they are able to send it to some global care point which is able to fix it. |

Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
I have had the same problem. Nokia Online Repair put new hardware in my N9's shell, in their words a swap.
|
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
Are you sure it isn't the gps? I had the exact same problem yesterday, and I saw this thread, saw page 1 and turned on my GPS. Worked like a charm.
It seems that this occurred because I had enabled 'Use GPS' function in the camera, but I turned off the phone's GPS in the settings. Here's a way to make sure that it really is a hardware problem: try other apps which use the camera, e.g., a QR code scanner. |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
Tried all apps which use camera. they went to not responding state.

Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
got same problems here.
first the camera won't respond, says "Camera not responding, try again or restart the device if the problems continues." then the problems grow, all contacts, messages and images won't appear, images are still exist in the folders. trying to uninstall mods like fastern9, use 'user.dirs-dirs' method for could be a tracker problem, but the errors persist. any help, please? |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
efion,
Camera not responding seems to be a different problem from images etc not appearing... Are you sure you fixed user-dirs.dirs? Did you re-transfer media to your phone to test? Once done and satisfied you can try fixing camera by installing the 2 camera-related packages... |

This same message on the camera ("The camera is not responding. Try again or restart the device if the problem continues") is now happening on my second Nokia N9 device (after I sent the first back to MobiCityUK for repair, and then they did not repair it and LIED REPEATEDLY TO ME, but that's another story...) Can you tell me exactly how to fix? Last time, the camera thing started happening, then lost text messages, Skype stopped working, as did GTalk video calls, and various other things I can't remember now. This happened this time after re-installing all my music on this new second N9, and downloading various apps I had downloaded before, including Emumaster, and lots of other things that I am now uninstalling to try to find out what was the cause. Another thing it says is that I can't add a CalDav calendar, as I "don't have enough internal memory", even though I clearly do! Roll on Jolla! |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
Got the same issue here since last week.
My call log, messages, pictures in gallery disappeared. So i did a tracker backup and restarted tracker. After that most pictures were back again and my call log and messages also. Now it doesnt show those pics i did after restoring the tracker backup. Since today my camera also lags and so on... Hope somebody will find a solution soon  |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
Since last few days I am having the same camera problem. "The camera is not responding. Try again or restart the device if the problem continues".
Is there any idea to solve it? In addition my third party flash light application also not working. |
Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
Hi Guys, Even I am from India, My N9 will shut down if I insert the sim, It works without the sim. contacted Nokia care point they said they will not support it because the phone was not launched in India. If your N9 has a prob Nokia care point will not service it for you in INDIA :(

Re: Nokia n9 camera broken
Hi,
how many of you were using phone torch for a long time? I replaced the camera, same error. Maybe phone torch messed up something related to camera and LED flash power? Because LED flash doesn't work either. |
