the guy and i have been in contact but the price is out of my
range...maybe one of you guys here can be lucky to grab it....
seems legit and when he sends the pictures to me ill update the post....

I do believe one went for $2,000 before.

The non "devkit" ones can be sold. I'm not even sure if there is anybody at Nokia who would bother to follow up with finding out who the loanee was that sold it.

Other days, here in Indonesia, someone's selling his N950 on the online shopping forum for just $400, after a week without any bid, he lower the price to $300.
But then, don't know the cause, he cancelled the selling.

GBP 1,040 at last count.

That's insane for what amounts to a rejected device being given away because they can't sell it.
I'd love a N950, but definitely not at that price point.

I actually had a bid on that device. I was even prepared to go up to $1,000, but I have already been blown away. Why are people spending such this kind of money on this phone?

I guess it is because they find it makes more sense than spending 2 times half the amount on the next Android iteration or iPhone? ;)

What the heck I would pay 2000 or more for a N950 with Pureview cam and promise the GF and ecosystem (the real one) to use it for 4 years :o

Quick question... Crazy because he sells such a rare device, or because he expects somebody to pay so much for it? I would say former... What's the reason for attempting to sell it?

This condition (of Nokia owning the N950 and loaning it to developers) reminds me of "Who killed the electric car?".
This price... Well, the N950 is rare, and he sells it new. Though, the highest offer to him, from a potential buyer, was 200 euro - the price is too high for most visitors.
Yes, he could announce it in a separate thread. Guess he didn't really want to part his ways with it.
The first time I visited the link, it was already a private listing. It merely hides names of buyers/bidders. It wouldn't stop Nokia from seeing the sale...

Cause the many issues make it unusable as daily device, and it is also not very useful at all as a dev device because of hardware and software differences.

Making $$ to buy Jolla phone :D

To me N950 is still better hardware-wise, but it is a dead-end and the hw keyboard has very limited use. The price on eBay is crazy but tempting as well. I remember the loaner agreement stated that if your N950 is lost and Nokia happens to ask for a return of the device, you will have to pay $500...

Crazy for selling a device not owned by him. Crazy for choosing such a (high) arbitrary prize, crazy for posting it here (c'mon, you can do it better), and last but not least, yes, crazy for wanting to get rid of an amazing phone like that.

EDIT: Seems like now the sale has changed to private. Clever guy. ;)

oh yeah, i got my N950 today and it is not a singel scratch on the screen or body. i am happy like a clown at the moment. only one thing that could make me even more happy and that is if someone could sell me their N950 box it came in. i don't have the box. the guy i bought it from work at telenor and he said it came without the box from nokia. so again, if someone would like to sell me a N950 box i'll be ever greatful :D:D:D

if you search a little on this forum, you'll find quite a few developers (who got one for free from NOKIA, in pristine condition as well) confirming that the N950's build quality is nowhere near the N900's
one of the biggest draw back is the screen
apparently the N950 was the 1st device (and last) with that type of screen and is still in "beta" quality; dead pixels appear very quickly, sometimes in whole lines across the screen.
plus it only has 16GB of storage; maybe enough just to run Maemo Harmattan, but if you plan on carrying your whole MP3 collection around, forget about it.
(there is no µSD slot available)

it may be but nobody bothered doing it so far
mostly because there was an effort to recreate Fremantle (N900 OS) desktop on MeeGo
that was before the N9 and its astounding swype interface got presented
since, nobody cares to have Fremantle's desktop paradigm on the N9 / N950 anymore.

and the price is beyond anything reasonable, mostly because it is a "collector's item", not your knock-around type of mobile you keep w/ you no matter what.

better of waiting a few more months until Jolla comes out with (hopefully) a hardware keyboard device.
don't expect one of those next Monday, but maybe as a 2nd model, successor to the legendary Communicator series.
why no hw kbd 1st?
because right now hw kbd is a niche product, only very few care about; always was, always will be
NOKIA could afford such devices, awfully expensive (thus limited demand) and probably not even cost covering b/c back then NOKIA was practically synonym to "mobile phone" and they were making money with nearly every (other) device they threw on the market.
not so w/ Jolla. there are a niche & they need at least a up to standard & consumer's expectations device if they want to have any chance to start up.

even though the N950 is proof that it is possible to make a device with hw kbd hardly thicker then its counterpart (N9) without (13 vs. 11 mm)
but nowhere close to the market's leaders with less then 10mm
