Stand-by screen and Turn display on by double tapping
Hi,
I sent my N9 for repair (malfunctioning audio jack) and it came back today. While the original problem seems to have been fixed, new problems seem to have crept in. Namely: 1. The stand by screen. It is visible for about 5s and then goes off. Not always visible like it used to be. 2. I can't turn on the display by double tapping the screen. Any idea on how to fix these? Or is it possible that a wrong part was used by the repair guys that might be causing this problem? |

just to strike things off one-by-one:
did you check everything is fine in settings? |

in terminal as root:
apt-get install system-ui-screenlock-nokia --reinstall |

But, still replace the standby screen |
Re: Stand-by screen and Turn display on by double tapping
nokia being bad at surprise...why doesn't that surprise me...
it could be a loose ribbon or sth like that but replacing standby screen is essential as he says it disappears after 5secs... |

I had exactly the same (double tap non working and standby screen going off) issue and reinstalling system-ui-screenlock-nokia fixed the problem.

Especially if while in a call, the screen stays off even when its away from your ear! You don't have anything covering the proximity sensor do you? (Top right of the phone above the screen) Also have you tried doing a reflash just incase? |
Re: Stand-by screen and Turn display on by double tapping
technically its 0.5 not 1...ivgalvez got his fixed..
anyway i'll give u the full 1 mark ;) |
Re: Stand-by screen and Turn display on by double tapping
rahulthewall when u receive a call the screen remains blank or even while in the call if you pull it off your ear does it remain blank?

I am going to reflash the phone to see if it helps (I doubt it will). |

Re: Stand-by screen and Turn display on by double tapping
ah then GOW is right...proximity sensor issues...remember there is no software fix for hardware issues...try a reflash but nokia care beckons...
after all even after retirement you played on in the IPL so nokia care is the same bug...once you go there you'll keep returning :D |
Re: Stand-by screen and Turn display on by double tapping
Yeah, it looks like another 3 weeks without my phone. At least the IPL paid well ...

As expected, flashing didn't help. So back goes the device tomorrow ... thanks all.

Re: Stand-by screen and Turn display on by double tapping
I've got similar problem.
When my phone goes to Stand-by screen it won't wake up by double tapping or pushing on/off button. The clock stops after some time and stands still. I'm able to awoke N9 only by restarting. Even if I turn off Stand-by Mode in Settings it goes the same. Any ideas on how to fix it? |
Re: Stand-by screen and Turn display on by double tapping
This could be a bit entrenching but it kinda looks like Nokia messes up things with N9s deliberately...as if they were ordered to totally doom any N9 that randomly shows up in their hands... there are more people complaining about Nokia Care services if N9s hit the place recently...
also, FW-wise, the whole PR1.3 update looks like it eventually brought some stupid bugs instead of some real improvement...though I canīt say my N9 acts weird or anything but reading about some bugs people are encountering makes me a little annoyed... |
Re: Stand-by screen and Turn display on by double tapping
I've faced this issue and done hell lots of research.
I come out with these conclusions: 1) Tweaks issue: N9tweaks. If you don't have this installed, jump to 2nd conclusion. 2) Software issue: reflashing would solve. 3) Proximity sensor: Take it out and put them back, it works. Try not to touch the hardware, do step by step, start off with reflashing. Here's a guide, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dxsT...feature=relmfu you may jump to 3:43 for how to take out proximity sensor. All the best for people facing this problem. PS: if problem still remains, sorry you gotta send them to Nokia Care, proximity sensor could be faulty. Mine was faulty right after they returned my phone, they change them straight away. |
