Still using N900? please give me some info!

Hi guys!
i am planing to buy another N900.

i have searched about buying second hand n900 and i have enough info now.

according to this post hardware revision with 2104 & 2101 had faulty usb. but the problem is that i have been to the market today and there are 6 N900 i found and all the hardware revision is either 2104 or 2101 i want some info from you if you could check your hardware version and kindly vote there and also post a reply (so that thread is keep bumping for others)if you had any usb problem, please let me know.

here is the breif info about that post

Quote:

check for the line where it says "Revision : XXXX" (XXXX is in numeric form).
Now with the hardware revision, I would personally avoid hardware revisions 2101 and 2104, many users with faulty microUSB port have said their hardware revisions are 2101. Hardware revision number 2104 was reported recently with just one case of slightly faulty TRRS connector.
to check your revision type in xterminal

Code:

cat /proc/cpuinfo

I have a 2204 with a uUSB that's just gone funny.
But so far my 2101 has been rock solid for 2+ years.
So I think your avoiding version numbers will not guarantee any thing

Re: Still using N900? please give me some info!

My main N900 is a 2204, no problems with it so far. I recently purchased a used N900 that turns out to be a 2101; I don't know how hard the previous owner used it, but its usb port seems to have no problems either.

I agree with Sixwheeledbeast, the revision number isn't going to guarantee that you will either suffer or avoid USB problems...

2104 no probs.

Should add that i filed off all microusb connectors that ever touch my N900 so that they insert and eject almost without any force. I did that the week I got my N900.

Re: Still using N900? please give me some info!

my N900 is a revision 2101 with no USB problem and I used cheap USB cables that sometimes I had to force into the USB port.
I have been using my N900 for 2 years and half and I haven't been too nice with it, but is stll rock solid.

2101, purchased in November of '09. I'm getting real worried about getting another phone if something happens to this one. It has been working perfect. The only problem I've started having is the headphone jack; after years of plugging I'm assuming the metal is getting rubbed down a bit, so I have instances where the headphones are not detected.

^ This.
Micro usb teeth are almost useless anyway.
And filling them help to preserve any micro usb device, the N900 is far from being the only device with a rather fragile usb port.

I have my 2101 since Nov. 2010

Got it second hand. Not a single problem with the usb port so far.

2204 2 years and no issues yet. i think even the mini-usb cable got a bit bent but not the port in the phone.

Re: Still using N900? please give me some info!

2101 owned for 2+ years, no USB problems.

USB cables were the wall charger & data cable supplied with the phone, & they weren't filed or otherwise altered.

same, 2204 using everyday since aug 2010 no usb problems.
I have filled off the teeth to all the micro-usb cables before inserting it into the phone

Re: Still using N900? please give me some info!

since all usb ports on n900 are surface mounted(if im not wrong about this fact) then all the ports no matter the revision are at risk of breaking
