N9 Alarm Behaviour
It great that the N9 alarm can still function when the device is off. But why does it sometimes turn itself on to sound the alarm and at other times it just sounds the alarm without turning on? Is there any way to control this behaviour? I've determined that it is nothing to do with the battery charge. I would prefer not to have it turn itself on.

Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
I'm interested in this too.
I don't use it when the n9 is off simply because it's not stable on my phone. I never had it sound the alarm when off, only that it turns on and sound the alarm. The problem with my phone is that it sometimes doesn't sound at all, only turn on, so it's totally unusable for me. Perhaps it's caused because i use a custom mp3 file? |
Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
Similar issue here:
I have a reoccuring timer for getting up. If I switch it off when going to sleep, the N9 will start up at alarm time but waits at the password screen (not PIN). When I wake up overslept (and angry) and type in the code the N9 starts to play the alarm (no custom sound). I think the issue started with PR 1.2. Unfortunately I cannot tell you if it got fixed with PR 1.3 since I cannot get it without bigger efforts. |
Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
Any news? i have the same problem :(

Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
Has anyone investigated if this behaviour is linked to unrestricted system-ui?

Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
I recently flashed my phone and have not installed anything Non store invluding N9QTweak. Will report back what stock current behavior is.
Edit: Kept 10 alarms 1 min apart and switched off phone. Hitting Snooze/Stop/Power button stops the alarm Volume up/down mutes Phone did not turn on, nor did it ask whether it should turn on unlike the older Nokias would Battery fully charged, PR 1.3, Standby screen disabled. I think one of the things that QTweak alters is the alarm UI to inclyde a larger snooze button, can someone with that mod see how it behaves? |
Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
i haven'i install QTweak on pr1.3 but my allarm doesn't work :(

But, I've putted a password (and increased security), have installed Home Screen (and numbers of apps....) and the N9 is now unable to play alarm, it always tries to run/to switch on, but with no sound. After some times (A hour?), it switch off alone.... After getting the PR1.3, it's always "broken".....   Regards, Olivier |

Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
No not initially, but i have tried again with passowrd set and autolock set to No Delay. It still works fine.
I have had my phone come on by itself if I plug in the charger sometimes nothing to do with alarms. I tried to couple these issues, set alarm, switched off phone, and connected to a charger. Phone did not turn on when the alarm went off. |

Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour

|
Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
without home screen background set, alarm seems works fine!!
|
Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
Hmmm, I dont have it set... :S
But thanks anyway :) |
Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
So can it be confirmed that there is this bug whereby your alarms may have issues due to home screen settings app being installed?
If it can be confirmed, I would suggest this be posted in the home screen settings thread so that Vesuri is informed about it and can advice on what should be done... |
Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
i have verified that if image background is set alarm doesent work, but if blur radius is set to 0 and brightness is set to 100% alarm works fine.

Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
Today, I also had some problems with the alarm (don't know if it's related to the earlier posts, though).
Please note that the phone was always turned on, I never tried using the alarm, when the phone was turned off. Some background info: Bought a used 64GB N9 with PR1.3, did a hard reset, used it for 1-2 months, alarm worked perfectly. IIRC, in the beginning I used the default sound, but afterwards a custom mp3. Last week, I bought a brand new 16GB N9 with I think PR1.2. When I turned it on for the first time, I updated to PR1.3 and installed some apps (no reset after update). The alarm with custom mp3 worked a few times, but today it sounded up for 1 sec and then it automatically went to snooze. I heard the 1 sec ringing this time, so I woke up and checked what's going on. The device was put on the table facing down (can this be the issue?). I turned it around to face up and after 10 mins (snooze time), the alarm worked correctly. It would be really bad if I couldn't trust the alarm of the phone. |

Re: N9 Alarm Behaviour
Did anyone find a solution to this? I am using the Device lock Security code (= boot and autolock password) because I can't turn that off. If I could turn that off, I suspect that might solve the erratically working alarm clock as well. I don't dare removing my Mail for Exchange account and possibly that forces me to use the password (I am not sure)?
Very often when the phone is off, at alarm time the phone will just boot to the password screen and get stuck there. Or sometimes it works normally and sometimes it lets out a short alarm sound and then stops. If there is anything I can try to get the alarm clock working and booting reliably, that'd be just great. |
