Just got my white N9 my reaction is indifferent

i almost returned it but its opened....oh well

i thought i would be blown away by it's design. idk its still wrapped in the plastic so that could be the reason why. But i think i should have gone with black. Its very lightweight and its form is nice. But the white makes it look rather generic and plain It look better in the videos lol.

I dont really like how the phone terminates sharply at the edges, i know that Apple has patent on rounded corners.

swipe UI so far i am very indifferent towards it.

The screen is very vivid big step up from n900. And its an actual damn phone and not a computer to therefore I hope it behaves like one :)

But it also feels less functional than the N900 because its a phone and not a computer.

when my sim cutter comes i will update my impressions regarding the functionality of the device

its a cool phone but i can see myself switching to something else in a few months

So.. you bought a phone without making at least a small "research" about it?

actually i did do alot of research its just that the pictures and the videos didnt really give an accurate impression

my problem is just with the look and feel of the device really

you could always try the N8 too.
Great gadget which also triumphs on being a phone first.

I can't believe this comes as a surprise. Surely you must have seen this when looking at videos & photos??

Get the black rubber case. Solves both of your problems.

It's pretty easy to get an idea of the "look & feel" of N9, before you order it... just go to any shop and play around with a Lumia 800, as long as it's turned off :)

Wow, I believe this is the first time I see someone not amazed by this incredible *thing*! I have tried millions & trillions of the newest phones + I have seen & tried Nokia N900 but not one phone reached the power and stylishness of this one.

Am I the only one who feels the curved glass is an hinderance on the Lumia 800? Swipe UX feels natural with the curved glass but on WP it seems like an hinderance to me as it disturbs the swiping one does within the screen...

You sure have a lot of experience for a 13 year old!

FYI I can also say I was not impressed by the N9. I liked the design, it's the swipe interface I don't like, too easy to swipe away apps when you'd like to do something else (for example in a game)...

That's the developer's over-sight...For games you can disable swipe in the code...

I have never ever swiped away anything by mistake. The swiping is what makes this phone so special! And its design of course.

Everyone I show the phone to really gets impressed and a bit jelous of the swiping and multitasking.

By the way I saw my first N9 out in the wild today. Made my day :)

TBH I kind of like it. I even find myself standing my phone upright at work and using it as a desk clock. That, or listen to music via the speaker while it's standing

EDIT surprsingly, standing it on the speaker grill doesn't seem to impact the sound much

It's up to you actually ;) Everybody has his own opinion as I have mine, I tried the Galaxy Nexus (for my aunt) which I didn't like. Galaxy Note (My cousin's) And I didn't like it either, as well as my Dad's iPhone.. Ughh. Samsung Galaxy S3 (My friend's) also didn't like it.. Motorola Razr (My friend's) didn't like it! The only phone that fit my hand perfectly and was too comfortable was the N9.

are you even old enough to hold one of those?
what would be the minimum age?
like 10, maybe?

my sim card cutter should be here. now i am looking forward to using the phone.

i come from a long line of buying nokia's fashion phones (a series that they should bring back) so therefore lol i rarely ever impressed by the design of anyphone. i own one of nokia's rather infamous phones that causes me to be rather famous at my school

Re: Just got my white N9 my reaction is indifferent

is it infamous?

am i even more infamous as a 36 year old housewife, with a rooted, incepted, unrestricted-system-UI'ed modded N9 64gb?

Not amazed about your 64G white N9 device?? how about a 13-year-old kid who has "tried millions & trillions of the newest phones"?? Epic!

Well, my old E71 broke down so I had to buy a new phone. Back then, I started modding games and PC's since I was 7 :O And then I saw the N9, without even trying it I knew it was the one. When I went to buy it, the shop owner was like "Oh, you want that piece of junk?! It's a NOKIA dude! It isn't even worth the price!". I told him "I know what I am doing and I will shut you up later on, keep that thought in your mind". Then after a few days I came back to him with after I installed NITDroid on it.
Literally, he had no more comments to use.

AMD we all know your story so don't try to spice it up, ok? :p

You got the n9 knew s*it about it, in fact for quite some time you wished you bought the lumia 800 instead of this...

You bought the n9 solely for the hardware design so don't spout rubbish on what you knew about it...

Why try to dramatize events?

Who the hell wills to buy a phone without checking its software too? I already knew I had to deal with not much apps & games. I was completely fine with that. What made me go sick on the N9 was the tracker. Until know it has broke down more than 7 times. But you, Arie, and wook_sf (for creating the incredible deb!) helped me to fix it. And since there is a solution.. N9 is perfect!
Oh, and don't forget.. Without you I wouldn't even know how to open dev mode!
