Facebook feed disappearing
 
I hate to start a new thread because I am sure someone else has to have had this problem in the past, but searching for it was no help.

As the title states, everytime I click on a Facebook entry in my feeds on my notification screen it opens up the Facebook app fine, but when I go back to my feeds all Facebook entries from the last update (I have it update hourly) disappear. Twitter and RSS feeds do NOT have this same problem.

I read that someone once had an issue when commenting on an entry it would disappear from the feeds screen afterwards, but there was no fix mentioned.

The problem appeared after last Facebook update. I had PR1.2 at the time, and this error was one of the reasons I finally flashed to PR1.3. Unfortunately, it did not fix this problem.

Please help!

Clearly, this is not a problem many people encounter...

If no one has a solution, does anyone have any ideas of possible causes? Obviously, since it is only happening to the Facebook feed, there has to be some information that is gathered from that, right? Could it be a memory issue?

I have tried all possible "simple" fixes I could think of. Since the problem was present before and after flashing, I couldn't imagine that would make a difference if done again.

Any insight at all would be appreciated.

From what I can tell, Facebook are always pi$$ing about with things at their end, changing APIs, that sort of thing....... generally being a PITA TBH.
I get fed up with it on my N900. They messed up fMobi and Sociality for over a week. I've just started getting log-in errors in Sociality again and no updates at all, can't get anything really.

Is there by any chance all of you are using FasterN9 1.0.1? I noticed this behaviour too but only very recent.

recently i have the same problem with stock fb. Feed just.wont appear at homescreen. Then i shiftover to sociality....shiuld be good

I have this problem too, just press refreshbutton again, and your facebookfeeds will re-appear.

I have FasterN9 installed (1.1.3, not 1.0.1), but the problem has been there far before I ever tried any of the versions of FasterN9.

I have found the problem , the problem is the application update ( 1.4.0-1 +0 m7 ) , last one month with the default one in pr 1.3 ( 1.3.2 +0 m8 ) , and did not have that problem , had qtweak fastern installed and still did not have the problem , Install the update yesterday , and the problem appeared , I guess it's a bug in the application or sabotage by nokia Now the question is how can i go back to the previous version ? I do not want to flash again

Like I said in the first post, I am aware the problem didn't appear until after the latest Facebook update.
I would guess that the update was manditory due to changes with Facebook. I wouldn't imagine a working downgrade is possible at this point.

Like what imaginaryenemy mentioned; the update was most probably to bring the app up-to-date with the latest API changes so a downgrade may not work...

If you still want to do a downgrade then as root you can do:

apt-get install $PKG_NAME=$PKG_VERSION
replace $pkg_name and $pkg_version with the respective data...


Btw, did anybody bother contacting Store Support? A few complaints might get them to work on it...

yes, but pr1.3 is not the problem , if not , the facebook update that appears after upgrading to PR1.3

Right. Like i said in my first post, i had the problem after the Facebook update when I still had PR1.2. I got the update BEFORE i had PR1.3.

i can confirm that fb latest up(down)grade is the cause of feed disappearing.

i just rrflashed my N9, the feeds worked

Since you did a downgrade, did you also notice any problems in loading comments on pictures? I noticed that commenting page on pictures sometime disappears

Is there any way I can get the deb for version 1.3.2+0m8 from you? They have removed that version from the repos and I would rather not reflash just to fix this problem. I am told (by thedead1440) that it is very easy to do with N9QTweak or BackDeb.

You would be doing me a HUGE favor.

The deb you posted was 1.3.0+0m8, not 1.3.2+0m8. Is that a mistake, or is that the version you are using?

Yeap..its weird. Im using 1.3.2+0m8, no ideas why BackDeb.backed up as 1.3.0+0m8 ...

For reasons to long to explain, I updated again to version 1.4.0-1+0m7. Unsurprisingly, the problem still exists...

The good news is, after messing around again trying to figure out the disappearing feed problem again, i found a workaround!
It is weird, I don't know why it works, and I don't know if it could cause any damages that I am not thinking of...

Simply re-installing the "facebookqml" and "facebook-meego" packages fixes the problem!...for a little while...

Each time i reinstall BOTH packages (I have tried only installing one, but neither by themselves fixed the problem), I get anywhere from 20-36 hours of perfectly normal acting Facebook feed on my event screen.

Though it seems cumbersome and annoying, with a daily rule in ProfileMatic, I re-install both packages from debs every morning before my alarm goes off. We are three days strong, and no Facebook errors or other issues resulting from this.

I used this website to download the debs.

I used this custom action in ProfileMatic:

This sounds to me like a problem with Buteo Sync FW. When you install the packages, the configs will be created and the Buteo Sync FW daemon will load them. The scheduling works for a while, then fails. Rinse and repeat.

I've had similar problems with Buteo Sync FW myself, which is why I don't use it for cuteTube or MusiKloud. :)
