How to install Gnumeric Spreadsheet

How to install Gnumeric Spreadsheet

Hello,
Sins almost two weeks I am owner of the N800.
It is a nice device but I have some problems with it; one is How to install Gnumeric Spreadsheet.
When I try to install via the N800 Application manager I get the message:
Application packages missing: libxau0

I see in
http://repository.maemo.org/stable/3...omparison.html
Comparison of packages in Maemo 3.1 and Maemo 3.2 free repositories
that possible the file resides in maemo-sdk-nokia-binaries_3.2.sh (2MB)

But I do not know how to get it as I am a N800 user, not a developer.

Question: how can I receive the file: libxau0.

And when I receive it, do I then have to install it via:

N800/Tools/Application manager (pull down menu left-upper side of screen) application/install from file/select application/

???
I have spend hours searched for it but did not find it.

Thanks in advance for your help in this.

Re: How to install Gnumeric Spreadsheet

l had the same problem until i added Maemo and Maemo Extras repositories .
http://maemo.org/community/wiki/appl...nrepositories/
Just add them to your applications catalogue, then try installing Gnumeric again.

Re: How to install Gnumeric Spreadsheet

Thanks for trying to help me out. But it seems I am to unfamiliar with the subject.

If I understand it well the file concerned is:
maemo-sdk-nokia-binaries_3.2.sh
I copied this file to documents and hoped to pick it up with the Application manager. This seems not to be the right procedure.
Then I opened the Application manager/Tools/Application Catalogue and entered a new application by directing it to: http://repository.maemo.org/stable/bora/

This also gave no result.
It seems that I am missing something.
Please help me out.
Regards.

Re: How to install Gnumeric Spreadsheet

Sorry, i noticed my post was not clear enough. Add the following repositories to your catalogue...

Maemo repository
Web address http://repository.maemo.org/
Distribution bora
Components free non-free

Maemo Extras repository
Web address http://repository.maemo.org/extras/
Distribution bora
Components free non-free

That did the trick for me...

Re: How to install Gnumeric Spreadsheet

I seem to be having some odd trouble installing Gnumeric, in that I can't see it listed in my application catalog! I have an N800 w/the latest Nokia firmware, and I have both the Maemo and Maemo Extras repos defined. Gnumeric just doesn't appear in the list when I choose "Browse available applications". Any ideas?

hmm, have anyone been crazy enough to attempt to run this on a 770?

Re: How to install Gnumeric Spreadsheet

Hi. I am an N800 user. I would like to install gnumeric spreadsheet. I have some questions about this:
1. Which files at http://repository.maemo.org/ should be downloaded. In which directory of N800 should I save them.
2. The same question for the files at http://repository.maemo.org/extras/. There are lots of files at this page.
3. Where should I download gnumeric spreadsheet.
Thank you my friends for summing up.

Did you try the "official" way? Go to http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2007/gnumeric/ and click the green arrow. Report problems here! :)

Re: How to install Gnumeric Spreadsheet

I tried the official way. This is the problem I encountered:
When I get to http://repository.maemo.org/; I observed that there are subfolders there. I selected http://repository.maemo.org/stable/bora. In that subfolder I installed
http://repository.maemo.org/stable/b...inaries_3.2.sh
By chance, clicking on it, the rest is done automatically as in PC. That is, the application is installed at the documents directory of the n800.
Real problem started when I connect to http://repository.maemo.org/extras/
It has many many subfolders and subsubsubfolders. I am lost. What should I do? Which files should I install? Many thanks to those who spend time for answering.

The best site I've found for up to date application and repository information is http://www.gronmayer.com/it then select your OS version and start clicking on the links which will install the repository into your application manager - Gnumeric's repository is listed here, which I've been able to install perfectly into my 770 running OS2007HE.

I don't see gnumeric under OS2008 downloads. Is it not available yet, or will the OS2007 version work?

There's a beta version,

Repository: http://people.debian.org/~tschmidt/maemo/chinook
Distribution: /
Components:

There's a thread on it, look for it. It mostly works, but it still has some serious problems.

If by "this" you mean Gnumeric, then I have tried and see nothing crazy about it, it works fine.
