  • what are you trying to install exactly?
  • how are you trying to install it?
  • what errors / messages are you getting at the end of the installation?

Re: Can't install extra decoders for N900

i installed decoders support two days ago without any problem with apt-get install decoders-support and it went without any problem.

From HERE you can enable extras-devel repo.

Re: Can't install extra decoders for N900

Man, just give us some info, allright??? We're not mind readers...

What is the repo you are using, have you made an error typing it in? Is it a unofficial repo that has nothing to do with TMO? Have you updated apt after adding the repo. Are you using the terminal or HAM or FAPMan?

Just show us the commands you are using and post the exact output of the error message here.

I just did

Code:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall decoders-support
and that works fine so there is no problem finding it online.

EDIT: And please, stop cross-posting your messages.

the command to run is

apt-get update

to catch to output, do the following
Code:

root
apt-get update >/home/user/MyDocs/aptgetupdate.txt 2>&1

you can either attach the file

/home/user/MyDocs/apt-get-update.txt

to a post here directly from your N900 or if you connect your N900 to your computer in Mass-storage mode, the file will be in the Drive:> folder

this line is a duplicate of the one two rows above;
you know it, i know it but apt doesn't :(

all in all, with your network connection being okay (ping) your sources.list file looking fairly good (at least as far as update is concerned) i can't think of any reason why apt-get update shouldn't work

maybe some apt wizard (i'm myself primarily rpm based...) could think of some command to purge the records of apt...

are you in an area where network access can be restricted?
guess, then pinging the repositories hosts (i.e. downloads.maemo.nokia.com instead of www.google.com in earlier post) would show that...

I've been trying to install the decoders, but get

Try to do apt-get update first then install it, or install the debian with dpkg -i
http://repository.maemo.org/pool/mae...+0m5_armel.deb

and make sure you have what in post #16
good luck

./sifo

I've tried dpkg now and the relevant bit of the error message seems to be

Code:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-extra:
 gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-extra depends on libwildmidi0; however:
  Package libwildmidi0 is not installed.

Re: Can't install extra decoders for N900

Make sure your repo settings are like in this post http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=16 in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list.
Then try
Code:

apt-get update
apt-get install -f

Edit: You may have to make sure to enable the Nokia repositories as well!

TomJ 2012-12-03 22:12

Re: Can't install extra decoders for N900

I am tolerably sure I have all the relevant repo enabled. Trying to apt-get the package gives:

Code:

Package libwildmidi0 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package libwildmidi0 has no installation candidate

Looking at what I assume to be the package page, http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...0.2.2-2maemo1/, I can't see a link to the deb. Does anyine know where it's gone?
