Re: ifconfig wlan0 up failed
@amank053,
For some reason you don't have the module cfg80211 loaded. Have you tried rebooting and seeing if it works then? Otherwise, do, again as root: # modprobe cfg80211 and then try the ifconfig wlan0 up again. QUESTION: besides wifi-switcher, have you installed and/or played with other wlan-tweaking tools? |
Re: ifconfig wlan0 up failed
Sir, thnx for your concern.

Re: ifconfig wlan0 up failed
OK that's weird. What kernel are you using?
Can you run this on the terminal (as normal user, no need to be root): $ uname -a and then $ ls -l /lib/modules and then $ ls -l /lib/modules/`uname -r` those above are ``back-ticks`` (or grave accent, or whatever you want to call them). if you don't manage to run the last command, do this: $ uname -r you should see something like "3.2.0-32-generic" (more likely 2.6.28-bla-bla). Then $ ls -l /lib/modules/2.6.28-bla_bla (i.e. what uname -r returned) If you post the output of the above commands, we will know which kernel you are running and which modules are available. We can take it from there. |

Re: ifconfig wlan0 up failed
OK. Apparently the stock kernel doesn't have the cfg80211 module (maybe it's built-in, or maybe it's just not used, I don't know).
One way to get this to work would be to install kernel-power, but the obvious question is first: why do you need to run "ifconfig wlan0 up". Is your WLAN not working? |
Re: ifconfig wlan0 up failed
i want to use wifi on my phone....my phone does not detect the available wi-fi connections...i dont know the reason behind this....

and i havenot used wifi on my phone for last 1 year.... |
Re: ifconfig wlan0 up failed
To reflash follow the procedure on
http://wiki.maemo.org/Reflash |
Re: ifconfig wlan0 up failed
After reflashig is it for sure that i will definitely be able to use the wi-fi in my mobile phone...
if YES then i am ready to do so... or you still need to check some other things in my phone.??? |
Re: ifconfig wlan0 up failed
Yes, you will be able to use wifi after reflash for sure IF its not a hatdware fault. I think you will be fine. Good luck !
|
Re: ifconfig wlan0 up failed
If it is not a hardware fault then yes.
You have no option other then a full reflash to find out. |
