[ANNOUNCE] movgrab (latest) ...
Hi all,
Here is my first attempt to package the latest version of movgrab : Edit the 30th April 2013 : Pushed version up to the latest (1.2.1) ... Changelog : Version 1.2.1
movgrab : movgrab is a downloader for all those pesky sites that insist you use a big fat browser that runs flash in order to see their content. It's a command-line app written in straight C, and so doesn't require you to install perl. Nor ruby. Nor python. Nor guile, scheme, glib, gtk, qt, gnome, kde, X-windows, m4, firefox or windows. No! Not any of that! It *should* compile on all posix unix systems, I think (although I'm a bit worried about the whole little-endian/big-endian thing). Overview : Written in straight C. Command-line application. No dependancies, everything needed is in the .tar.gz source file. HTTP Proxy server support. Write download to std-out to feed into another application: (eg movgrab -f - URL | mplayer -). Progress display while downloading. Fork into background with '-b' flag. Homepage : https://sites.google.com/site/columscode/home/movgrab Download packages from extra-devel : Activate all repositories following this tutorial : Repositories Activation Then, as usual, as root, install with : Code:
-bash-2.05b# apt-get install movgrab && movgrab --help Example : - First we use '-T' option to show all formats available ... Code:
-bash-2.05b$ movgrab -T http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL8puJMUDpk Code:
-bash-2.05b$ movgrab -o "AWESOME X: Beautiful Moments.mp4" -f 3gp:176x144 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL8puJMUDpk A++ |

Re: [ANNOUNCE] movgrab (latest) ...
I've tried building movgrab v1.1.15 for Harmattan.
Get it from here... Caution: This is one of my first few compiles so may contain errors though never got any when I tried it :D |
I have already pushed the latest version to the auto-builder, but it look like it was offline for maintenance ...

My brother was trying to download few videos from some website but it didnt download them. Code:
BusyBox v1.21.0 (Debian 1.21.0power2) built-in shell (ash) thats why i asked does it works for sites with multiple embedded video and not does it support website with multiple embbeded videos. |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] movgrab (latest) ...
Okay, with this information having given in first post would have saved from you from my little rant ;) Sorry for that.
It seems like the link on the site refers to another site where to download the video from (just like a lot of file sharers do). So I do not believe that movgrab is able to handle that. It can download videos only from sites where video is directly "embedded". But I am not the developer nor maintainer, so see this as an educated guess. |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] movgrab (latest) ...
Thanks a lot for this little big gem - using it, after just few minutes (of learning syntax and/or field tests) I was able to download things that never wanted to work by *any* other tools, including famous cutetube.
To the ^^^ above - you're using -t generic, which assumes video is embedded in normal (youtube'ishj way. Considering, that your video site isn't on list of officially supported ones, you may want to try other -t types - odds are, that your site uses same method, as other existing (and supported by movgrab) services. It's unlikely, that they have deployed own method, incompatible with everything else. /Estel |

you should cd to folder before using movgrab to save file to your desired folder. |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] movgrab (latest) ...
Hallo!
this app looks like what I'm searching for since long! But I couldn' t make it work with vimeo. I get to the page where the video is, then copy the url and do: $ movgrab 'url' But the answer is : FAILED TO GET DOCUMENT REFERENCE! Do you have any idea about!? Thanks a lot! |
