Is there a free N9 Message Blocker?

My N900 has a excellent SMS Blocker, while my N9 has only (an excellent) Call Blocker.

Is there a free SMS Blocker for the N9? I looked for it but couldn't find anything. There is Firewall+ Pro, but I am surprised that there is no free app.

why you cant buy it and support developer?

Re: Is there a free N9 Message Blocker?

Why would I want to support a developer? That is like saying that I need to buy bread to support a baker.

If my neighbour enjoys baking bread and likes to give that bread freely for people to taste, you still want me to buy the bread from the baker to help this poor man?

Thing is, you'll either wait for someone to start giving out breads for free, or you'll just buy it, like everyone else. And if no one gives their bread to you for free, ever, don't be "surprised" :)

@bioman you like poor man. You seraching over whole city for free and outdated bread, because you cant buy fresh one. Sadly.

[offtop]
You bought not cheap phone, but why can't spend some money for useful apps?
If you will have a car, will you steal wheels, car audio, gasoline, etc?[/offtop]

I'm not aware of any.

Out of interest, what call blocking application are you using bioman?

I've been searching for one for a while, but they all seem to have bad reviews, or some people say that the phone rings once before the call is blocked.

Call Blocker by CepiPerez is the best one out there with no ringing...

WTF?
You, sir, fail in epic proportions.

Knobtviker is seriously not amused.

I advise you to stay away from a place like this with high concentration of developers.
Or change your opinion and apologize publicly.

I just blocked your IP and all personal data in all my apps.
even if you buy, you are banned in my book.
cheers

While OP sounded like a prick, his original question was simply asking where he can find a free app that does so and so. Things started went hell loose when his question wasn't met with an expected direct response. Sometimes, all I wished that dwellers of TMO take a minute and think whether they have anything helpful in context to say, otherwise threads will just turn into a flame feast once hell broken loose

As a developer, I am ashamed of you, other developers, who are flaming the user.

Plain and simple, you are ***holes. Like you can't create an ad supported free version of the apps you create... Pffft.

I develop only ad supported, free apps. They are worth it, and get way more users than the pay apps. YMMV, but flaming a guy because he wants something "free", is really shameful.

Now, somebody ban me please.

Edit: Also LOL @ the guy who took the trouble to explicitly ban the user from their apps. Congrats, that's a nice way to look at the world and treat average people. I'm sure you have thousands of satisfied other users.

the usual fee for an app is about a dollar or two.. kinda silly reason for not buying an app. i spend more on cigarettes every day. I havent seen a free app doing what u asked for. i cant really say i looked for it either tho.

I can pay 10 dollar or even more if the apps does what I want.

I can't speak for everyone else but Dropian is the best Dropbox client I have so I'm definitely a satisfied user.

I'm real happy for you, just never ever mention that you'd prefer some app for free. He might ban you from his apps for that.

Re: Is there a free N9 Message Blocker?

Regardless about how one feels about add supported apps, or whatever, the amount of virulent hate towards the guy for wanting a free app is just... sad, i think, is the best word. The guy even made a decent point about people who might enjoy doing things for free, he just said it in a somewhat dickish way - but that can be explained by language barriers.

At the end of the day, paying for apps is about far more than just supporting developers. For instance, I will gladly support developers who make their creations open source (even if they still charge for it on an app store), and less so, but depending on circumstance, closed-source. I also like to support the Humble Bundle and similar payment approaches, which are, as far as I am concerned, the much more ideal future of digital good selling.

At the same time, I often have no desire to pay through organizations like PayPal, which I dislike, and honestly, if I could, I would boycot the credit card companies as well. As stated by HerpDerp, sometimes people want to pay but can't. Sometimes they don't want to pay but it's about greater social issues than supporting developers. Sure, a lot of people are just dickishly interested in getting thing for free, everyone else be damned. But you should consider the entire range of possibilities, from people who are like that, to people who want to pay but can't, or people who might prefer to ask around for a free thing just in case there is one, to people who's ideas about ethics and morality keep them from paying in a given circumstance.

As for myself, I have see a lot wrong in the way software selling works. I very strongly believe in an ideal of open source and generous donations (as is when I can, I like to donate in $20 or €20 amounts; if I wasn't a college student and had sufficient spare cash, I would be donating to a lot more people, more frequently, possibly more money). When that's not an option or undesireable, I believe in pay-as-much-as-you-want models with very low minimum payment floors. And I will personally often not use programs precisely because they require payment in ways I don't like.

But what I don't do is flare with vitriolic rage at developers who choose to make their software paid, or demonize them (either in my own throughts or in discourse with others) as all being greedy unethically selfish people - which is exactly the kind of flawed reasoning that the hostility towards the OP displays.

@herpderp and @Mentalist Traceur

I think you guys are gone too far and missed some points.

Firstly, it is very clearly that he DON'T want to pay, not he CAN'T pay.

Secondly, he explain his point of not paying developer in a rude way like saying paying money to developer is like paying money to begger.

They didn't flame him for asking a free apps, they flaming him for not appreciate the developers' hardwork.

Re: Is there a free N9 Message Blocker?

Sorry if I offended anybody here. It was certainly not my intention to upset people or hurt people's feelings. It was just a basic question about an app. I never expected to get a mainly negative response.

To clarify: I don't mind paying for quality work - and have bought apps if I think they are worth it.

Anyway: my question is answered. Thanks for your responses. I am going to bake some cookies.

bibek 2012-12-29 08:30

Someone abusing developers in bad language and here comes some people to support him. Wow. I'm impressed.

Don't we have a moderator, at least for bad language?

You better. Chances of getting free bread are very slick for such breadholes

knobtviker 2012-12-29 16:07

Funny people...
Lets talk about ads.
I've disected a few ad apps and this is my conclusion.
A developer of ad app is giving out his app for free. His earnings come from ads (per view or per click). A company that owns the ads actually gets all the users data because ads collect it and send it over. Company then uses or resells the personal user data collected.
So bravo for you, selling out private and personal user data of your users.

Arie was banned again because he stood up for hard working developers.
Personally, I was offended morr by OP demand than aggressive language. OP should be banned too for asking for paid apps on a public forum. This is not a warez website.

Thanks everyone, that buy, or donate or just spread the word about paid apps. Like someone said, usually its like buying a dev a cup of coffee or a beer.
If you can't pay - you don't buy the paid app. What am I supposed to do about it?
I don't cry and scream and demand a free Porsche because I can't pay for it.
What's wrong with you?
Comparing a devs work to a bread maker is fine with me. You get bread for free?
Where I live that doesn't happen.
Oh you get it from your lovely neighbor?
Well, I'm not lovely and I'm not your neighbor and my bread is not free.
I personally make quality apps (or at least I try) and I leave my spine on the chair because of it.
I make a few € out of it, no dev lives from that money.
So yeah, thank you for being a donkey.
I can live without your contribution.
please, come and visit again. The more you do, more data I have. :)
You're obviously a wallhead. It's not hate I'm giving to you but responding to your most offensive attitude and demanding.

Can I have your N900 for unlimited time please?
Maybe you are my neighbor. I demand you give it to me at once.
Thank you. LOL
