NOKIA N9 message center Big problem
 
Hi have this problem.
When i received an SMS or a SKYPE message , i can see the preview, but if i enter in the message center an i click on the message , the message center disappear , and i can't see any SMS , SKYPE or other type of message.

I have inception , n9tweaks, wazapp , and a lot of other app.
But I don't want reflash the N9
Any help?

Last day the problem was the gallery , i have installed this gallerybugx_0.0.1_armel.deb and now i can see all the image that are inside and outside the DCIM folder

Well some people are just bitter so ignoring them is the best thing to do ;)

Would you explain your own issue as well as what steps you took to troubleshoot it?

Now I'll try to explain.
I receive text messages fine, as well do they pop up on my screen and notifications. But when I go into messages and click on a specific one, the messages app closes. And if I just click on the notification, it just disappears. This gets increasingly frustrating because it won't let me message anyone on skype, either.

Can you send SMS messages normally, and open messages that you have sent yourself?
Does the problem persist immediately after reboot, or does it appear some time after?

I can't compose new messages either. When I click send the message app closes.
And the problem does persist immediately after reboot.

maybe a re-installation of messaging packages might help....

As root in terminal do:

apt-get install --reinstall libmessaging0 libmessagingwidgets0 libqtm-messaging messaging-ui-settings-001 messaging-ui -y

Are you using firmware variant 001, i.e. what repository do you have in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ ?
messaging-ui-settings-001 is specific for that variant, other variants have a different file(name).

i've got 005 variant, is it a simple case of changing the code to 005 ending or something else?? i dont want to brick my phone;)

well, you can see what's the correct package by apt-cache command. As you can see, for example I have -001:

I ran the code and it showed I had 005. I then ran the previous code with the 001 substituted for 005. Terminal downloaded tonnes of items, so many that I couldn't name them ;-). I got my hopes up that it'd be working again, but no. Messaging still non responsive, can't attach picture to MMS thru gallery app either. I'm just not smart enough to know what to do now :confused:

Another thing I've just noticed is I can't turn on my Skype account, in accounts it just dims the button and hangs. Could this be connected to my issue?

Hello everyone, I am also facing similar problem. Sometime back I had flashed my N9 as per the Comprehensive Flashing Guide from here (TMO). It was successfull and my phone is working fine without any problems I noticed. But recently I noticed that my phone does not open the messaging app. I cannot send Skype messages, Facebook messages, or even the regular SMS. I cannot even view the messages that I receive from outside on my cell network. Please help.

Sounds like your "tracker" is playing up. You'll want to reset it but don't forget to backup your contacts, etc first.
