[Announce] tripAccount - manage expenses during a trip with your friends
 

I have made a new app for managing expenses of multiple people while they are on a trip.
It is a clone of SplitTheTab app for maemo
It has been written in C++ using QML for the GUI

I love it. The only thing I miss from SplitTheTab is the fact you can define different currencies with a currency rate fixed in a configuration section. Then you just select the currency of the expense.

I would separate the 'edit' and 'new' buttons.

i considered implementing different currencies as a selectable list, as in SplitTheTab. But to me, it felt that the currency conversion rates need not be fixed during a trip. So i changed it to Currency Rate, that can be set for each expense.

i did not understand ur comment regarding separating 'edit' & 'new' buttons. Did u mean placing it outside the toolbar, as independent buttons?

Maybe you are right about the currency exchange. And what about recalling the last rate used? This way you can think about it with the first expense and then relax for a while.

About the buttons: I think they are very close to each other. When I tried I pressed them by mistake. But it was a fast trial. It might not be important at all.

in my next release, i will recall the last currency rate used for each trip.

the button layout is the default provided by QML when using 5 of them in toolbar. If it is a severe usability issue, i will have to move them out of tool bar

Would it be possible to export trip data to csv?

Buttons proximity are not that bad. Keep it as it is today.

Exporting to CSV is on the roadmap. the plan is to save the exported file in MyDocs folder. do you have any other suggestions?
it will take some days though. currently busy with multiple works.

finished coding & testing of recalling last used currency rate other than '1.0'. I thought this might be better, as there is no memory/effort involved in typing '1.0'. For each trip you can have different last used currency rate.
I'm planning to release it along with export feature. If you need it urgently i can upload a deb.

It would be nice to have an option to delete trips and expenses.

While adding and expense, when you touch the fields like Description and Amount it would be useful to have them empty if the text is the default one ('description' and '0.00'). Currently I have to select the whole text and delete it before I can enter any value.

This app is now available on Nokia ovi store:

It is an updated version. The default text entry boxes now have place holder text, that disappear when you start editing it.

I will be busy for next few months, so I wont be implementing the delete feature until I'm free.

There is a work around for deleting trips.
In terminal/foldermanager go to ~/.config/tripAccounts and delete trips you no longer want
