[Workaround Found] No more automatic standby screen on N9

Hi,

I'm new here, so first I would like to say that I love what I've seen from this community so far. I have a N9 for a few weeks now and I'm glad its ecosystem is so open and easy to use.

Well, I'm here now because after tinkering with the thingy for a few days, changing stuffs with command lines and community tools, even though I'm happy with what I've come with I have a small issue that I can't seem to find the source of. It is thus:

When I stop using the n9 and put it aside without pushing the lockscreen button, I would assume it should go to the standby screen (screen saver is set on "on" so...), but this is not the case. I have to manually lock the screen otherwise the light fade a little after 15 secs and then stays as is... hence sucking my battery !

I know, I know, I'm the one to blame cause I certainly broke something while playing with the phone, but I did so many tweaks in the past few days that I can't find the source ^^

So if a kind soul would like to help me find a cure for this sad misfortune, I'd be gald to send him my best regards ;)

A reset did work for me when I faced somewhat similar problem with stand-by screen and auto lock .

He doesn't need to do that; most probably his /etc/mce/mce.ini file has something screwed.

OP, get a fresh one from my db: http://db.tt/kc2XzrD3

after replacing the file either reboot your device or restart the mce service and most probably it should work fine now ;)

Is this file also compatible with the N950?

I too had a similar issue and a reset solved it :)

Unfortunately I'm not sure about it :o

You may want to try back up your old file and use this to replace it and see if it works...

Why just not to go to Setting -> Device -> Display -> change display time-out to another one -> save -> change display time-out back -> save.
It always work for me...
If I remember right, this problem happens sometimes after applying "Blanking off" or "Disable automatic brightness" don't remember which one :)

Hi everybody, thanks for all your answers and sorry for the delay !

So thedead1440, I tried your file but it did nothing except nullifying some of my tweaks. The screen would still not go to standby mode automatically. I reverted back to my file then.

And as for resetting my device, I sadly can't do that because it asks me for a code and 12345 or 00000 are not working... I have no Nokia Care center near my neighborhood except 300kms away from my place! I also tried to flash the device, but the flash utility do not recognize my phone when following the procedure described on this forum...

So I think I'm stuck with what I've come with :/

If someone has another trail to follow... but it's not a big deal anyway ;)

BTW already tried that and it didn't work... thanks anyway :)

Stay put in here... I am sure our community would be able to help you.. Need some patience :)

Did you tried this:
Code:

apt-get install --reinstall system-ui-screenlock-nokia
?
And refresh or reboot ?

Nope, didn't do the trick. Thanks though.

Was thinking about using ProfileMatic to set a rule to go to standby mode after x minutes, but can't find a command line to trigger the mode... if someone has it, I'll take :)

Download "Lock Screen" application from Nokia store. Then launch its executable from ProfileMatic's custom action.

Yes :) It did the trick ! Although LockScreen from the OviStore didn't want to download so I had to install the MeeCatalog version.

I'll mark this thread as "workarounded" ;)

Suffering this issue too, but only when in charging position, the screen won't dim, in normal condition it's fine. Strange.
