[RIP] My N9 Is Agonizing, Random Reboots and More

Old post
Quote:

If i install Accuweather or Meecast, the phone randomly reboots. I don't know what they have in common, maybe the the weather drawing in the events screen?

Does anyone know how to fix this?

After a lot of random reboots yesterday and me trying to revive with phoenix, refurbishing/reflashing, today i wakeup and i saw my beautiful n9 with its screen turned on with low battery and the menu that didn't response.

I think that i played too much with oveclock opptimizer and fried something inside.

Going back to symbian now, let see if i'll buy another n9 soon

Re: N9 Random Reboots If Accuweather Or Meecast is Installed

Random reboots sounds like a possible hardware problem to me. Have you had any sudden reboots unrelated to these two apps?

Just for the record I have never had either of my N9's reboot by themselves while running at stock clock frequency. (Not counting single reboots done by some install script)

Might be worth to run memtest and see if your phone reboots/crashes doing it.

[EDIT] Here's link to the thread where you'll find it: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=89076

just in time when new update arrives: http://mynokiablog.com/2013/02/24/mo...ego-harmattan/

Isn't the meego team in jolla now? who made that update?

Re: [RIP] My N9 Is Agonizing, Random Reboots and More

of course there should be at least 5-10(could be a little more no info ) people working on harmattan and that should be enough for some security and critical app updates ( of course no new feature )

Re: [RIP] My N9 Is Agonizing, Random Reboots and More

No its not the same Harmattan team. This is the team of sub-contractors who came up with pr1.3 and are based in Accenture...

Re: [RIP] My N9 Is Agonizing, Random Reboots and More

thedead1440 Do you know if there is a better way to flash ? (better than phoenix's refurbish) I mean something that clean all totally and starts over.

I did secure erase with phoenix but maybe i forgot something

Re: [RIP] My N9 Is Agonizing, Random Reboots and More

I haven't used Phoenix since the Symbian years so don't remember if the erase all is the same as flasher's...

Try to do the erase all in flasher:
Code:

flasher -f -F rootfs.bin -F emmc.bin --erase-user-data=secure -R

Edit: Flasher tools available here if you are finding them ;)

If it doesn't work, try to find slower older computer to flash your phone, just to make sure every bit of fw is flashed...i had a bit similar problems and now i don't have it anymore!

Yeah...i like cheesing a bit around the meego lol...your N9 is not floppy disk...my advice take it as granted or leave it...you still have chance to prove with my advice, but if you are tired of it than forget it...and sorry i disturbed you.

Because testing Schturman..

Ok guys, looking very promising so far.

Only 1 reboot (and after heavy use and tethering)

The only thing i can't understand is why always i see the "Apkenv" folder on /home/user/MyDocs/. I installed Apkenv hundred flashes ago, and it still there, and never installed again. That means that the flashers (phoenix/winflasher) don't totally erase all.
I don't restore any backup or nothing similar.

Anyway, seems that winflasher working better than phoenix

Re: [RIP] My N9 Is Agonizing, Random Reboots and More

what you installed after flashing ?
If you installed N9QT, the folder "Apkenv" in MyDocs belong to this. N9QT create this folder every installation...
That mean it's ok...

flotron 2013-02-27 00:57

Re: [RIP] My N9 Is Agonizing, Random Reboots and More

you are right! The folder apkenv is dated from today, and i flash it yesterday.
good tip!

another reboot :S
Ok i assume the worst..

Anyway who can take a look to the syslog?
It reboots around at 22:20 / 22:25

Re: [RIP] My N9 Is Agonizing, Random Reboots and More

Nothing specific in the syslog, it just seems to boot out of the blue.

You could check the device blackbox logs, do a "strings /dev/mtd3 > blackbox.log" as root.
That log stores failed boot attempts, but there might be some hints in it...
