Is it only me that finds the calendar bug a deal breaker?

I know that there's discussions on the actual problem elsewhere (and fudged workaround solutions) but I'm surprised at the number of n9 users who seem to be able to carry on using this amazing handset DESPITE the calendar issue. Is it only me that finds it a complete deal breaker not being able to look at events past 39 days in the future? Or am I missing something? Because of that I've had to resort to using a GS3 as my daily driver, even though it has no soul (can a mobile phone have soul??). Just interested in other outlooks...

I think there are a lot more N9 users have to put up with...

Same problem here and it's a shame that Nokia does'nt solve this bug. We know that there will be no new features, but they told us they will support N9 for a few years, so Nokia should release a bugfix.

What does this bug do? I just created an event two months ahead, closed the app and restarted it, and there it was. I also have anual-repetitive events for birthday reminders and they're all there

I never noticed it either.

a month in advance is usually all I need to know anyway

Have some events more than 4 months ahead but cant see any problem with calendar.

Re: Is it only me that finds the calendar bug a deal breaker?

the bug is that the 3rd pane of calendar (agenda view?) won't display an event more than 39 days ahead. You can see your event 4 months ahead if you use the 1st or 2nd pane of calendar and browse to that month/day but in the 3rd pane which lists upcoming events its limited to 39 days' ahead events only.

I remember a work-around for this being posted but unable to find it right now. Will update this post if/once I find it...

So it's only on Agenda view? wow, that's pretty specific deal breaker you are talking about. Though I can't be the judge what fancy you on a phone but personally, that's quite a minor thing, in fact I don't use Agenda view because it can't give me a sense of reference.

No, this happens in all views. The events are in calender database but calender UI does not show them. Recurring events are visible.

It is possible to make the events visible again by these instructions:

The bug is suspected to be triggered somehow when the calender is synced to some external service.

Re: Is it only me that finds the calendar bug a deal breaker?

This is by far the most annoying bug I've ever experienced on a smartphone. I would downgrade to PR 1.2 to get rid of it but that is not possible... Phone, SMS, calendar and email are the most important applications for me and I need my calendar to plan my appointments multiple months ahead. I sync my calendar with google via CalDAV and that's why the bug occurs, it won't occur if you store everything locally.

The above mentioned workaround does work, but you have to do it every time you want to look further into the future, so it is pretty annoying. What I do is setting every appointment as repeating event (repeating every day but it ends the day it begins so there is only one event in my calendar) and this way all events are displayed in the future. This is just another workaround but more comfortable than the other.

All at all I think it is an audaciousness from Nokia not to fix this bug, it can't be that difficult and that phone was pretty expensive.

I would also consider downgrading to fix this bug, but alas that isn't possible. I've often wondered if it would be possible to just downgrade the various packages associated with the calendar? And if so exactly what would be involved?

Calendar bug,
multi-calendar limitation/bug,
multiple contact accounts limitation,

These make N9 a non-profesionnal phone...

This is a huge issue. Could the solution by wonger be achieved using command line and then run it using Profilematic?

Try asking at the Profile Matic thread!
