fMobi will not connect

I have the latest version of fMobi for the N9, which was working fine in the recent past.

However yesterday when I tried it it told me there was an timeout error.

Rebooting the phone did not fix this. Removing and reinstalling the app from Ovi store now results in an "An error has occurred. Please try later" dialog on startup, which when cancelled, leads t an ugly, iconless page with an exit, like, refresh, and ! icons at the bottom, none of which do anything useful apart from generating "Error! Facebook API returned 400 Bad Request"

I have also used the link Jiiku provides to fix application permission settings at eh Facebook end in case that was the problem. Made no difference.

Anyone else seeing this, or got any advice?

not just you, I'm having problems signing in for the first time after a reflash. Must be a problem on Fmobi's end

400 yep... I must find another FB client that is kept up to date. I notice fMobi is not in the Nokia Store any more. Same problem with Kasvopus and... Sociality just crashes all the time.

Re: fMobi will not connect

fMobi is on Nokia Store for Symbian but he hasn't been able to get it back for MeeGo. Nokia took away the apps after people has complained of the function. You can use a web address from PC to sign in for fMobi and after that it's woork. I posted that link in the fMobi thread.

Edit:
MeeGo users should authorize via this link http://on.fb.me/10UprXy (via pc) and then login to fMobi.

Visited the URL from my computer and accepted the fMobi for MeeGo app, but I still get this error message "Error! Session has timed out, you need to relogin".

Then you must login again from fMobi.
1. Start fMobi
2. Open settings
3. Mark the option "log out when exit"
4. Go back and close fMobi
5. Start fMobi and login

It don't help anything.
And the message using your link as also others have informed as follows:
"Success
SIKKERHEDSADVARSEL: Behandl ovenstående URL, som var den din adgangskode, og del den ikke med nogen." (Security warning: Treat above URL as was it your password and don't divide it with anybody)

One major problem is that maybe the solution could be to remove the app and to make a clean reinstall but you can't get the app from store anymore as mentioned.
Second fmobi have for a period worked for me without major problems but then suddenly without visible cause this error appears!

In a short second you can see the facebook login screen but it disappear before you can use it and the front page appears!

You are right. Problem is that there isn't a single good N9 app for Facebook as for Twitter.
The default is of poor quality and the different TMO made are all half finished or less - fMobi was actually the best until it chrashed!

Isn't it possible to complain to Nokia?
What is the meaning to remove an app we have paid for without warning etc. It's theft at bright daylight!
You are right the app is still in store for Symbian!

NB. Using your link more than once need log off your FB account at first on PC. Then you can try again - but unfortunately trying once more didn't help in my case:o

Re: fMobi will not connect

Hi!

There is a workaround for the login error - found on Facebook site of fmobi.

When You start the app and get the Facebook login screen, you have to disable the internet connection before the error appears. Then enter your credentials, connect to internet and submit the login.

After successful login, be sure to disable the "logout on exit" function in Fmobi, if enabled :)

Best regards,

Jaracz

How to be able to manage that - you have less than a second to swift of the internet connection before error appears!?

Have you managed that?

Edit: OK I managed after several attempts, and now I'm in and it works, but don't know how long!:o

Trust me, that method which is also on Jiiku's website and elsewhere, is a fairly old workaround, which worked against the problem I reported back in February. However it does not appear to fix the more recent problem on the N9 that has prevented its use since May. And the author, who happily took my money, seems uninterested in answering any questions about it since about May 7th, either in public forums or in private email.

Trust me, I've tested the method before posting it here, and it works for me.

And Garp confirms that it also worked for him. So I think, no more, no less - that it simply works.

Jaracz

Just one question Jaracz: Did it work for you by just catch the login screen before error pops up or did you made other procedures so as closing your FB on PC etc?

Hi Garp,

I haven't made any other steps. I just closed my internet connection before the errors came. Then I logged in, and gave all permissions I've been asked for (everything in fmobi-App, not on my PC).

Best regards,

Jaracz

OK then I will in detail decribe what I did, because I'm not quite sure what was working for me this time:
1) tried to catch login in screen before error pops up by closing net connection 3 times - no luck!
2) tried again the procedure from @setter (#4 this thread) after closing FB on PC - no luck!
3) still closing FB on PC I removed FB account on N9 and tried open fmobi - no luck!

4) still closed FB on PC, open the FB account on N9 (not establish share or chat and contacts) net connected when asked and quick started fmobi, closed net, and then I succeded in catching the FB login screen, keyed in credentials and push login, the error screen pops up for a second and then wupti I'm in and everything are working fine! (Established share and chat/contacts on FB account without problems)
:):)

Re: fMobi will not connect

I can't get this to work mainly because i cannot urn of internet connection quick enough.
However the facebook mobile web page works well on the N9 so i just bookmarked that on my Home Page.

Re: fMobi will not connect

just did it as written in post #13 and it works... I did it by unlocking the SIM tray and keeping it pressed with finger until the moment login screen appeared - then let it go and it goes offline... phone will keep switching You to the "select network" screen, so go to settings -> internet connection -> int.conn OFF, then enter the credentials, put the SIM tray in, set int.conn. ON, and tap login...

EDIT: ... and don't forget to disable "logout on exit" in settings

Re: fMobi will not connect

I made it in an easy way :)
Flight mode and then connect to my wlan. When the login screen comes up I just shutdown the router and then entered the info and press login and then started up the router again.

After 2 months of connection again same problem:confused:

But even better work-around (my cable-router reaction too slow!):
Connect to internet via Mobile Net, start fMobi, when login screen shows up disconnect the SIM card by open up SIMcard door/cover!
Key-in info press login and press SIMcard in again and connect to net by Wifi or Mobile net!:)

Re: fMobi will not connect

I know this is an old thread, but I cannot start a new one.

Recently the java app stopped working, as well as the official one in both Symbian and MeeGo, and I was wondering if we could bring back fmobi and fchat in both OSs.

Are there any developers that can contact Juuso Kosonen, the developer of these apps?

I found this email address, but I am not sure if it is still valid.

juuson@gmail.com

With some workaround with the GRAPH API for Facebook, there might be a chance to make them work again!
