Incompatible Nokia 6650

I'm a little disappointed that I cannot browse on my nokia 6650 MMC card. I can connect via bluetooth just fine but I can't access the contents of my memory card.

Also I have service with t-mobile. I can connect to to wap service on the phone but I can't connect to the internet with the 770.

I use to set up my nokia 6650 and a laptop with bluetooth to access the internet through the 6650, but I don't quite remember how I did it. Searches on the t-mobile website brings me no joy.

If anyone has t-mobile and have gotten 770 working. Please help me with the settings. Oh and of course I'm in the US.

Nokia 3650, Cingular, Mediaworks Unlimited (while mobile), and FastAccess DSL 1500k speed (while at home). Always worked fine - no problems. Then, got a black Motorola Razr v3 from Santa last week, and it works just fine too. Don't expect Cingular to support you on anything 770 related; they will cut your service if they think you are getting your money's worth on the unlimited internet.

Treo 650 - Sprint PCS / U.S.A.

So, file transfer is not supported on this phone, but you can use the phone for Bluetooth dialup networking. The other caveat is that you must re-pair the phone upon each connection, which is completely lame, but at least it works.

Tell the n770 to dial #770, and use the username "web" and password "web" (just as you would for a laptop bluetooth Dial Up Networking connection on this phone).

Also, I have unlimited T-Mobile access on my pda, but its
a 6315 ipaq so won't pair with n770.
Thus, I'll be buying a phone which will pair with n77o,
plus work with T-Mobile, plus able to use TMO's edge.
Any suggestions for an inexpensive phone (new or used)
which will do all this?
Green

Motorola

I have the Motorola v551 with Cingular, I can browse the phone and transfer pictures with no issue. I have full web browsing on the tablet while connected to the phone, and the phone is EDGE compatable and I seem to be getting around 100k throughput.

Samsung SPH-A900 (Sprint)...

... although every so often I'll have to delete the phone from the A900 and re-pair them, even though the 770 is a trusted device on the phone. Samsung's US Bluetooth implementation is just plain lousy.

Nokia 6630, umts, vodafone Germany. Works.

Motorola RAZR V3

On Cingular's network her in the U.S. (Southern California) with Unlimited Media Net. Works great, can link via Bluetooth and file browsing/transfer functions all work well. Can access the internet via the RAZR V3 via the Bluetooth link just fine, and GPRS connections work great though they aren't super fast, just fine for more text based web sites and e-mail. I think the V3 also supports EDGE, but I have to look into the settings for that.

I have 2 of these, "mine" wouldn't work. It always disconnected 5 seconds (or less) into browsing. I swapped Sim cards with my wife, and it works like a charm!

My standard T-Mobile RAZR pairs beautifully and I love the integrated phone browsing. However, T-Mo's internet is pretty useless so I don't know if the internet access works.

Imported Nokia 6230i (T-Mobile USA)

Due to a "known issue" with the 6230 series it doesn't work. I beleive there was a bad batch of 6230 phones (Nokia support said it was a bad bluetooth module) that I happened to get.

Bluetooth works for everything except DUN, where it fails miserably, usually hanging the phone.

Sony Erickson T608 using Sprint Vision
needs newest Nokia 770 ROM
Works great. Unlimited data for $15/month can't be beat :-)

Motorola E815 on Verizon, need to punch in "##DIALUP" to enable dial-up.

Only need to do it once, no known downside to leaving it enabled. Must be keyed in rapidly.

Nokia N-Gage QD works without any modifications.

slackwaresupport 2006-01-18 22:04

on the treo 650, can you tell me your settings?? gsm cdma? username, password, ap name???

bradb 2006-01-19 05:43

My "generic" firmware v3 razr works just fine on T-mobile as well, though pairing is a total nightmare (and now that .51 added T-mobile VPN I can almost suffer thru the bugs ;-)).

Internet is fine as well, though the speed is like watching paint dry (and I'm pretty sure the v3 doesn't do edge)
